GUY IN CONCERT:
New jack swing favorites Guy rode a string of R&B hits to fame in the late â80s, cementing their status as icons of the genre with their appearance in Mario Van Peebles aptly-titled 1991 film New Jack City. Boasting an impressive catalog of Top 5 R&B classics from their heyday, the group continues to dazzle at their live shows, often touring with other choice era acts like Al B. Sure and Tony! Toni! Tone! On the road again in 2014, Guy is sure to have plenty of booties in the aisles as they treat fans to electric renditions of funky hits like âMy Fantasyâ and crowd-favorite âI Like.â
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Formed in Harlem in 1987, Guy pioneered the burgeoning R&B subgenre new jack swing with their self-titled 1988 debut LP. The album went double platinum on the strength of three Top 5 R&B hits, raising the groupâs profile and leading to writing gigs for a variety of artists including Bobby Brown and Boy George. 1990 sophomore LP The Future contained another string of hits, topping the R&B chart and landing the band a featured role in the 1991 gangster classic New Jack City. After a hiatus in the â90s, the band reunited for 2000âs Guy III, which contained their biggest pop hit to date with âDancinââ. Back on tour in 2014, Guy will share the stage with a host of other legendary R&B acts that includes Salt-n-Pepa and El Debarge.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
âGuy was incredible, Aaron and Damian started the show with âI Like!â They snapped, Aaron Hall still has it, he came out his shirt, he pumped the floor on stage, he came out into the crowd and sang âI Miss Youâ⌠Finally Teddy Riley hit the stage, the crowd went wild.â
âGuy- great energyâŚVocals were good. Showmanship great!â
âGuy was good, Aaron Hall is a character! It was so cool to hear Teddy Riley too!â
Aaron Hall made me so made because he wasn't there!! Overall they did a great job! They even performed Goodbye Love! They should've performed SMILE! That me even more sad.
I missed an act because all the shuttles and they sent one at a time to the compass to pick us up.
Very nice show all Performances were on time and did an awesome job
It was definitely a HOT summer night and an amazing show. I had an absolute ball!
Every performance was amazing. I've been waiting to see Guy
It was very hot and the venue/staff was not prepared for the sold out crowd. $5 for a small bottle of water is discouraging and promotes dehydration. The bars ran out of supplies such as ice, cups, and even water.
Teddy Riley showed us what incredible artist producer song writer he is đđđđ
Had a awesome time at the Dell. Each and every artist were FANTASTIC
It was GREAT and I canât wait to attend more upcoming events.
Teddy Riley is a wonderful entertainer. He is then now and will always be the man.Avant is so talented. Tank is a show stopper. Where was Aaron hall. It was great to see Damien Hall. I Loved the show. Theater was great. Mature crowd.
Liked everything about the R & B Valentine show,,,except it seemed the sound system not quite up to par, some songs seemed muffled. The entertainers gave good effort! Black Street with Guy and Teddy Riley brought the energy to end the show on a high note! Over all a very good show 9 out of 10!!
Really loved the line up of performers! Loved that all of Guy performed! Was glad to see 702, K-Ci,112 Blackstreet, Guy and of course Teddy Riley! Loved that Teddy brought out local talent to perform!
I really enjoyed myself at this concert. Teddy Riley, KC, and Guy did an awesome job and I got more then my money's worth. The MC was great and kept the audience enagaged.
My husband and I were looking forward to that concert got monthd. Great performance buy Guy!
It was cool to hear the old school music but I expected solos from Dave Hollister and Aaron Hall instead of all that playing the keyboard. I needed more songs and not some random artist that isnât in the list. Why did 112 have only TWO members with them the performance was good but when you say 112 I expect to see all of 112!
It was an awesome show,Teddy Riley did his thing! KC, Blackstreet,112, loved them all!
Overall, I enjoyed the show. However, when there is a lack of dedication to your craft, it shows.
My girlfriend touched K-Ciâs jacket as he walked through the floor area of the concert, but do to her medical condition we could not stay for the entire concert. It was her first concert in over 20 years because of her condition, just wished she couldâve enjoyed it until the end of the concert.
We had an amazing time. Teddy still melts my heart
I enjoyed myself...I had great seats and the event started on time!!!
