I pay money to attend musical concerts for the musical performance, not to hear about the musicians personal enlightenment... And the concert was very short--considering they made opening act David Wells play an hour, when he was scheduled for 45 minutes and then took 40 minutes to remove David's guitarist amplifier from the stage...
Guitars & Saxes was off the charts. David Wells, the opening act was only o.k. He is a great horn blower, though he hit some flat notes. But, his between-the-songs banter was really annoying and excessive. I'm a Christian also, but he was so obviously pandering to the Christian crowd, like a politician. It was in-sincere. Scott Gold, his bassman -- high energy fun. He saved the opening act. Back to the main event. The four up front were great musicians and entertainers. The three supporting musicians were equally great. Their drummer did a powerful solo; he even did the running man as he whaled away. Go see these guys. Just don't be in a hurry for the warm-up.
This was a great show. Unlike the last time I saw their performance where each artist performed their own sets, they integrated their songs and player off each other's talents. Nice variety of styles, from blues to gospel to contemporary jazz to smooth jazz. Between Kirk and Gerald - best performance of saxes I have seen. When Jeff goes over the edge with his guitar - great stuff!
The combination of these players was unusually effective. Even the warmup act of David Wells was well suited and they were very entertaining. All of the players were at the top of their form and I can honestly say that there was one tune that I did not enjoy immensely. As a sax player, it made me want to use mine as a planter!!
This year's show was even better than last year's - and they were great. You could tell that this group of musicans played and worked together often - they were so in tune with each other from the opening act to the finale strut with 'The Saints go marching in". The Fraze will have to work hard to top this year's performance.
Excellent!! Best concert I've been to in years. I was completely satisfied. Even the rain cooperated with the event. I'm so glad I went!
Awesome show, Awesome muscians, Awesome time. If you're on the fence about whether or not to go, get your tickets now. Fellows, it's a great show, sure to earn you some points with your woman.
These guys played together so naturally that you would think they had been together for years. The three guys that they had supporting them were awesome. This was one of the tightest bands a music lover could wish for and well worth thie money. I hope that if they are still touring together next year that they bless us with another show. My wife and I had a really good time. Thanks so much
Very good show. As usual, I left with total satisfaction. The Fraze provides top notch entertainment on a consistent basis. This is definitely one of my favorite places to go. A true blessing to offer great entertainment.
Great sound, great guitars, great saxes. Good weather
Great show! Would go to again. We loved Peter White!
They changed to format somewhat but the results were awesome. Singing by several members also made a significant difference. Sign me up for the next years concert.
This event was amazing! The talent between all four men, the warmth with the crowd, and the williness to sign their CD's after the show? Well, I wish we had more shows like this in the Phila. area. Where have all the performers gone? This was a very uplifting event. Summer is almost over and this concert began a nice exit for me !
To listen to the CD's and listen to them on the TV Radio Stations, The Wow is to see them in person, What a show,,, great time, If you like Jazz, then this is the show to see.
With the demise of WNUA 95.5 at the end of May 2009, this Smooth Jazz was the "best medicine" for the aches and pains of losing a long time friend - WNUA. However, this concert and my discovery of WLFM - 87.7, the newest home of Smooth Jazz in the Chicagoland area was the best remedy. Every smooth jazz concert that my wife and I ever attended at the Pepsi Skyline Stage at Navy Pier were memorable and unforgettable.
great show great area just a great time will continue to purchase tickets for events at navy pier
The interaction by all of the musicians was very good. They smoothly transitioned through sets and songs. I would definitely go to another concert this. Euge Groove brought it like always. Jeff Golub was kind of the MC and was very much into the performance. Jeff Lorber rocked it. Jessy J was very nice on the eyes and the ears. Great synergy with this group.
The venue was at Navy Pier was cozy and had an intimate feel. The performance by everyone was spectacular and I"m hoping that the event will happen again in 2010. I'l be there!
Our seats were excellent, although there's not a bad seat in this venue. My daughter and I were on our feet clapping and dancing. It was one our most exciting and entertaining shows ever. Please DO IT AGAIN!
