About

Gucci Mane in Concert

The year 2005 was like yin and yang for Atlanta bling rapper Gucci Mane. He enjoyed success entering the charts with his first national hit, "Icy," became involved in a quarrel with that song's collaborator, Young Jeezy, and found himself facing murder charges in the Georgia courts. Before his career as a rapper, Gucci Mane, whose birth name is Radric Davis, loved to write poetry when he was in elementary school. He moved to Atlanta from Birmingham, AL, with his single mother during the fourth grade. Since progressing to rap was a fairly easy step, Gucci Mane already had spent time in a recording studio by the age of 14. The glamour and sense of fashion of rappers like Big Daddy Kane motivated him to put words to music. His locally played debut single, "Black Tee," earned him a contract with Big Cat Records, and in May 2005 the label released his debut album, Trap House, which stood at the number one spot on Billboard's Heatseekers chart.

The beef with Young Jeezy originated from a fight over the rights to the album's "Icy" hit single, which spawned a number of dis tracks traded between the two. Within the same month of his LP's release, Gucci Mane was arrested for murder following an altercation in which he shot at a group of five men who burst into his friend's house, threatening to kill the rapper. As it turned out, the murdered attacker was an associate of Young Jeezy, but he has denied any involvement with the incident. Gucci Mane declared in court that it was self-defense, and by January 2006, Georgia prosecutors dropped all charges, citing lack of evidence. After being released from jail (on charges unrelated to the murder) that same month, he quickly went back into the studio to make his second album, Hard to Kill, which was released in October. He took the song "Go Head" from his first album and made it the lead single for the second in order to make up for the time taken away from promoting Trap House. The State vs. Radric Davis, his second official album, was released in December 2009 following a dizzying array of mixtapes.

    I just don’t know

by Misha on 11/8/21Colonial Life Arena - Columbia

Boosie did great. Gucci did good. Rick Ross was a no show and I was very very upset. I feel like when an artist don’t show up, they should let the ppl know instead of prolonging the concert. Then they started super late. Sound system was bad all throughout. Should give ppl back their money and stop false advertising

by Brooke on 11/8/21Colonial Life Arena - Columbia

The event didn’t start until 930pm. Then The Legends of the South turned into Gucci Mane and Boosie….. that’s it! What I thought was the intermission was actually the end of the concert!!!! 2 performances!!!!

Love Boosie! F the other two

by Moe on 11/8/21Colonial Life Arena - Columbia

Boosie gave us an amazing show! Gucci was stiff on stage and didn’t attempt to engage with the crowd. Rick Ross didn’t even come out😡 We paid for three performers and basically only had one which was Boosie

    Not Too Happy

by Gator on 11/8/21Colonial Life Arena - Columbia

Overall I enjoyed seeing Boosie wished he could of stayed on a little longer. The same with Gucci Mane seeing as Rick Ross did not performed! Granted things happen because they are people too, just the other members of the team should of made up for Rick Ross not being there. I wouldn’t had mind hearing Or seeing Boosie for another hour and half! Looked cute in his yellow! Only him could of pull that off!

    Overall Disappointment

by Anesha J on 11/8/21Colonial Life Arena - Columbia

I was so excited about this event. My husband favorite artist was going to be performing, but little did we know, he was not going to show up. I did enjoy Lil Boosie and the headliner, but if one of the artist was not going to be there, guest should have been notified. They ended the show abruptly and just told guest, "Goodnight". My husband and I were disappointed because this was a surprise for him. Total let-down.

    No show

by Disappointed fan on 11/8/21Colonial Life Arena - Columbia

The Colonial Life Arena and every venu involved with The Legends of the South Concert did the fans who purchased tickets a disservice by not once informing us that Rick Ross was not going to be attending a show that he was advertised on.

    No Show performer

by KP on 11/8/21Colonial Life Arena - Columbia

It is really disappointing when you all promote an event with multiple top tier performers and then you have no shows! There has to be a way to inform the attendees before the performances.

    2/3 Of A Show

by Redd on 11/8/21Colonial Life Arena - Columbia

The show was great from start to finish , however we only received 2/3rds of what we paid for . One of the acts did not perform as promised . If they knew the 3rd one wasn't going to be present , then they should not have advertised him for this event . Also , they did not tell us that the 3rd act was not coming , instead they told us to have a good night and to drive safe . We had to use hints to understand that he would not be performing . We should have been compensated something for this . Also this event was non-smoking , however having floor seats , there were several people not abiding by that rule . Overall experience 7/10 .

    Horrible

    by A. S. on 11/8/21Colonial Life Arena - Columbia

Boosie was great, Gucci was just ok and everyone was upset because Rick Ross didn't show up. It's not fare that we paid all that money for tickets and didn't see a complete show. This was my second time paying to see this show and this happens, and its not right.

    Not happy at all

by Alicia on 11/8/21Colonial Life Arena - Columbia

Paid regular price for tickets. Headliner did not show up. The two artists that did perform, performed so fast the concert was over before it started. I know it says lineup subject to change, but for a headliner not to show up is VERY POOR quality & service. I bought 6 tickets which is not cheap. Needless to say, even without COVID, this will probably be my last concert...

    Unsatisfied

by Nora on 11/8/21Colonial Life Arena - Columbia

The concert itself was definitely not on time. For the amount of money that I spent on my two 3rd row floor seats and an act didnt show. I mean a 2hour wait. 2hours. Very upset and want my money back.

Took to long for the artist to come out then wasn't informed that one of the rappers wasn't showing up I think tickets should of been half off because of that

    Wayyy to much smoking allowed

by Tish on 11/8/21Colonial Life Arena - Columbia

So we get there. I understand people sneak and smoke inside venues but it was ridiculous here and the staff didn’t say anything. Only 2 of the 3 performers showed up for the show. The show was scheduled to start at 7 but didn’t start until 830. I have been to a lot of shows and this was hands down the worse I’ve been to. I do appreciate the artist being good sports about the whole situation. I’ll never be going back to Columbia for another event to say the least!
