About

Gucci Mane in Concert

The year 2005 was like yin and yang for Atlanta bling rapper Gucci Mane. He enjoyed success entering the charts with his first national hit, "Icy," became involved in a quarrel with that song's collaborator, Young Jeezy, and found himself facing murder charges in the Georgia courts. Before his career as a rapper, Gucci Mane, whose birth name is Radric Davis, loved to write poetry when he was in elementary school. He moved to Atlanta from Birmingham, AL, with his single mother during the fourth grade. Since progressing to rap was a fairly easy step, Gucci Mane already had spent time in a recording studio by the age of 14. The glamour and sense of fashion of rappers like Big Daddy Kane motivated him to put words to music. His locally played debut single, "Black Tee," earned him a contract with Big Cat Records, and in May 2005 the label released his debut album, Trap House, which stood at the number one spot on Billboard's Heatseekers chart.

The beef with Young Jeezy originated from a fight over the rights to the album's "Icy" hit single, which spawned a number of dis tracks traded between the two. Within the same month of his LP's release, Gucci Mane was arrested for murder following an altercation in which he shot at a group of five men who burst into his friend's house, threatening to kill the rapper. As it turned out, the murdered attacker was an associate of Young Jeezy, but he has denied any involvement with the incident. Gucci Mane declared in court that it was self-defense, and by January 2006, Georgia prosecutors dropped all charges, citing lack of evidence. After being released from jail (on charges unrelated to the murder) that same month, he quickly went back into the studio to make his second album, Hard to Kill, which was released in October. He took the song "Go Head" from his first album and made it the lead single for the second in order to make up for the time taken away from promoting Trap House. The State vs. Radric Davis, his second official album, was released in December 2009 following a dizzying array of mixtapes.

He was only up there for about an half hour. He could of brought some of his artists if he wasn't going to be long. It was nice to see him I just thought it would be better

    Horrible/cheap

by Lex on 5/31/22Ladd Peebles Stadium - Mobile

I will never buy tickets to another event under this organization. They had people who paid well over $100 per ticket sitting on hard benches like we were at a baseball game. This was so unacceptable. The VIP seats were right next to the regular seats. Horrible and i will never go to another event.

    Great venue for a concert

by Floridabound on 5/31/22Ladd Peebles Stadium - Mobile

Everything was good until Gucci performed. There was a minor scuffle up front with some VIP folkz and that was that, he was gone. Moneybagg yo had my money well spent. He was the show

    Gulf Coast Bash

by Anonymous on 5/31/22Ladd Peebles Stadium - Mobile

The seating could’ve been better. Can’t really see the act close up when you sitting in the bleachers. Thought we would have an actual performance and not it being club style. They basically just brought the club to the stadium. High priced tickets, high priced drinks, etc. could’ve definitely been better

    Sucked

by Ocean springs on 5/31/22Ladd Peebles Stadium - Mobile

I was a waste of time and money .. you pay for certain seats and when u get there u just sit anywhere .. when the actually performers come on stage u can just migrate to vip smh.. they rushed through songs

    Not the best

by G Boo on 11/9/21Colonial Life Arena - Columbia

First off the first 2 hrs was performers that I wanna say were nobody. At least nobody I paid to see. Lil Boosie did his part for sure!! Rick Ross ??? I never did see or hear him.. The main one I wasted my birthday wish on. Gucci now that was the disappointment of the night!! I have saw him perform before. Actually he opened up for the Weekend.. His performance was amazing. Honestly it’s hard for me to believe that it was really Gucci on that stage.. Even the people around me felt like it wasn’t Gucci on that stage. This will make me think twice when I hear Gucci Mane coming to Cola SC.

    Disappointed!

by LW on 11/8/21Colonial Life Arena - Columbia

The show was a disaster! Acts didnt show, Gucci Mane was either high or something bc that was the worst performance! Rick Ross didn't show and there was no mention of it. Boosie gave a dope performance despite his tragedy earlier that day! They just cut the lights on and talked about an after party smh...they need to issue us a refund.

    Disappointed

by KPWilson on 11/8/21Colonial Life Arena - Columbia

We were expecting Rick Ross since the promoter advertised that Rick Ross was in the lineup. Gucci did not bring the energy we usually see from him. Bootsie did his thing.
