About

Gucci Mane in Concert

The year 2005 was like yin and yang for Atlanta bling rapper Gucci Mane. He enjoyed success entering the charts with his first national hit, "Icy," became involved in a quarrel with that song's collaborator, Young Jeezy, and found himself facing murder charges in the Georgia courts. Before his career as a rapper, Gucci Mane, whose birth name is Radric Davis, loved to write poetry when he was in elementary school. He moved to Atlanta from Birmingham, AL, with his single mother during the fourth grade. Since progressing to rap was a fairly easy step, Gucci Mane already had spent time in a recording studio by the age of 14. The glamour and sense of fashion of rappers like Big Daddy Kane motivated him to put words to music. His locally played debut single, "Black Tee," earned him a contract with Big Cat Records, and in May 2005 the label released his debut album, Trap House, which stood at the number one spot on Billboard's Heatseekers chart.

The beef with Young Jeezy originated from a fight over the rights to the album's "Icy" hit single, which spawned a number of dis tracks traded between the two. Within the same month of his LP's release, Gucci Mane was arrested for murder following an altercation in which he shot at a group of five men who burst into his friend's house, threatening to kill the rapper. As it turned out, the murdered attacker was an associate of Young Jeezy, but he has denied any involvement with the incident. Gucci Mane declared in court that it was self-defense, and by January 2006, Georgia prosecutors dropped all charges, citing lack of evidence. After being released from jail (on charges unrelated to the murder) that same month, he quickly went back into the studio to make his second album, Hard to Kill, which was released in October. He took the song "Go Head" from his first album and made it the lead single for the second in order to make up for the time taken away from promoting Trap House. The State vs. Radric Davis, his second official album, was released in December 2009 following a dizzying array of mixtapes.

I should of read these reviews before buying tickets to see GUCCI . Concert started at 8 and there was like 10 local artist performing. Gucci ended up coming out at 11pm and left the stage at 11:30pm. It was a waste of money to just see him for 30min.

    Not worth the money

by AlexMonsalv on 9/26/16UIC Pavilion - Chicago

Gucci mane only preformed about 4 songs at the end of the show. The other artists that performed were unknowns and I dont believe the show was worth the money.

by Anonymous on 9/26/16UIC Pavilion - Chicago

Lets start with the fact that I was on vacation in Chicago and happened to see Gucci was having a concert my friends and I would be in town. We purchased our tickets and we were taken by surprise when gucci showed up not only three hous late but only performed five songs none of which were from his new album. This dude is real flaw. DO NOT waste your money

    Prices high, show too short!

    by MB96 on 9/26/16UIC Pavilion - Chicago

Disappointed! Been a fan of Gucci for years so naturally I was excited to see him in person. However, the startup artists were so-so and had the nerve to take forever getting off the stage. Security kept saying Gucci wouldn't come out until the stage was cleared. He *FINALLY* came out close to 10:30, did a couple songs and was done by 11:15. We had second row seats and paid a good amount for them but felt the VERY SHORT show was not worth what we paid. Gucci could have done better for his fans!

    Gucci was lit!!!

    by Trinidadp83 on 9/26/16UIC Pavilion - Chicago

Gucci was great!!! The performances before him was terrible! It took Gucci 2 hours and 45 min to perform! Once Gucci was on stage he only performed for 30 min. He was at the after party longer than he was on stage.

    Worth The Wait.

by AaronGhart on 8/30/13Agora Theatre & Ballroom - Cleveland

I attended the Gucci Mane show in August at the Agora Theater in Cleveland. I am a huge fan of Gucci and have been for over 6 years. The venue was very awesome except the 20 opening acts. They were pretty bad as well as the DJs. They did a decent job of trying to pump up the crowd although they kept playing the same songs over and over during a 4 hour wait for the Trap God to appear. The wait was long but very worth it. Gucci brought OJ Da Juiceman with him which made the show even more crazy. The fact he brought OJ out and opened the set with him was incredible as I am a huge fan of Juiceman as well. The 4 hour wait was definitely worth the wait. Gucci showed mad love to the fans performing almost 10 songs. He played old trap bangers and the newer songs like "Bussin Juugs" and "Trap House 3" . I loved this show and couldn't have asked for more! and I met Charles Ramsey the hero of cleveland who saved the girls from a pedophile. The night was one to remember. A great 40$ Spent!! I will absolutely attend the next concert Gucci performs in Cleveland.

This was not a concert but an appearance.

    by Kentstudent1 on 8/27/13Agora Theatre & Ballroom - Cleveland

From the time the doors opened at 9pm until around 1230am random local artist performed. The entire time the host kept saying Gucci Mane is backstage, he going to come out when your more amped. The rapper Gucci Mane did not show until 1235 according to him he just left another appearance. He performed a total of 6 different songs but only completed 2 of them, the others he stopped half way through. He was on stage for less than 30mins. I paid $120 for 2 VIP tickets to watch local artist perform and to listen to a rapper for 30mins. This event was advertised as a Gucci Mane concert, not a public appearance. Completely dissatisfied......

Was it a Gucci Mane concert or a free-for-all?

by laurenstratos on 6/29/13The Majestic - Detroit

The concert started at 7:30pm so I got there at 8:30 or so with a group of friends. Opening acts weren't memorable but they were mostly local so I didn't mind it. At around 10:30, everyone is smoking weed and cigarettes in the venue which I didn't mind at all, but security didn't care. They tried to introduce Gucci Mane to the stage on three separate occasions and had the stage cleared/intro music playing but Gucci never came on stage. They just had to keep pulling opening acts out of nowhere to fill in the time. At 11:30, there were no more opening acts. The DJ began fighting/arguing with the other people on stage while the crowd just sat there and watched. There were probably 20-30 people just standing on stage, doing nothing for 30 minutes or so. They kept trying to get the crowd hyped but people began to get very angry about it. There was a dancer on stage for a couple minutes but drinks were thrown on stage so she got off. After four and a half hours of waiting for Gucci Mane, we just left. Lots of other people began to leave too and the only ones that stayed were the ones that were too drunk/high to care otherwise. I called my credit card company and refuted the payment and they didn't charge me for it. There was no way I was going to pay 250+ for that mess.

    Excellent show!

by BarbeDoll on 6/24/13DeVos Place - Grand Rapids

The show was very entertaining! JoeyB and Gill were awesome! The smoking section was convent and accommodating. My only compliant was I paid for VIP and was not treated like VIP. I got a pink bracelet that got me to the side of the stage, but was kicked out if there before JoeyB and Gill went on and was not allowed there during Gucci Man show. I did not receive anything else to make it worth the money I paid. No table and chairs, no back stage, same treatment as someone who paid for front row, only I paid $20 more for my ticket.

    Classy Gucci

by HpnotiqCrunk on 6/24/13DeVos Place - Grand Rapids

First of all, the venue for this was pretty high-end compared to others options in the area. However, I bought VIP and it was pretty much pointless 15min before Gucci appeared. The venue was greatly understaffed in security and people were simply walking right through the VIP entrance w/o wristbands and crowding the stage area. There were at least 8-10 opening acts that contained multiple members (5-10 additional people) and it was nearly impossible to understand anything coming off the stage during their performances. One solo female wrapper was pretty good. Door opened at 7pm, Gucci made it on stage close to 11pm. He was VERY crowd friendly and pretty funny to get things going. Overall - he was on stage for just over an hour probably... cost of the ticket (VIP ~$80+/ticket) was a real stretch to make it worth it. Would of rather liked to see Gucci along with other non-local talent for that price point.
