About

Gretchen Wilson made headlines as a country star when her debut single “Redneck Woman” reached the top of the country singles chart. She was the first country artist to do that in years, and her single was the quickest to reach No. 1 in decades. Wilson’s country twang, sassy attitude and deep, soulful vocals draw fans to her concerts and tours, and the honesty in songs like “Redneck Woman” are her ticket to superstardom. Wilson’s most recent release, on her own record label (Redneck), is Christmas in My Heart – the last of three released in 2013, which include Right on Time and Under the Covers as the first two.

Wilson had a rough upbringing in rural Illinois, but she credits her girlhood with instilling in her the tough and strong attitude that makes her so popular with fans. At the age of 15, Wilson was discovered singing in bars and joined her first band, Sam-A-Lama. While “Redneck Woman” shot to the top of the charts and also earned her a 2004 Grammy Award, Wilson has released other successful tunes, like 2004’s “Here for the Party,” which reached the No. 3 spot on the Country Singles chart and the No. 39 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, and 2005’s “Homewrecker,” which reached No. 2 on the Country Singles chart and No. 42 on the Billboard Hot 100. Wilson has come into her own as the head of her own label, and with the three new records she put out in 2013, she has proven that she remains a strong, powerful presence in the country music industry.

  • Loved the venue!

    by Shell5437 on 8/1/13The Tulalip Amphitheatre - TulalipRating: 4 out of 5

It was a great day/night for an outdoor concert! There were plenty of refreshments available which was great since it was a hot day! It was a smaller venue so it felt more intimate than some huge stadium or something. Both opening acts were great! Really got the crowd involved. Gretchen was good but seemed to be heading a little too much into covers and rock. I love her first two albums but think she should get back to her country roots. Although I did love the song about grandma smoking weed lol

  • Gretchen Wilson & Clay Walker- a night to Remember

    by Skimmer234 on 7/31/13The Tulalip Amphitheatre - TulalipRating: 5 out of 5

Both of these artists gave a 150% Wonderful show, lots of audience interaction, fabulous weather didn't hurt either! I'd definetly see both of them again..preferably together!

  • Love that Redneck Woman!

by BakingCountryGirl on 7/29/13Deep Water Amphitheater - MansonRating: 5 out of 5

I took my cousin as an early birthday present. She had never really heard Gretchen's music but is a country fan and was so excited that I was taking her. We had a blast! The set was only a little over an hour but for a show at a casino's amphitheater and with just one act, it was a great hour! Some of the songs that Gretchen played were the rock covers, which my cousin knew more than I did (she's also a rock fan). The only problem I had was that even though this was an all-ages show, we still had to walk through the casino. While this wasn't a problem for them (a staff member escorted my cousin - who's under 18 - and I to the amphitheater) it would have been nice if there was an exterior entrance/exit. All in all, my cousin and I enjoyed ourselves.

Clay Walker, as the opening act, was great! He's very entertaining. Gretchen Wilson's voice is powerful and clear. She's was definitely there for the party! And everyone was right there to party with her!

  • Chance McKinney was great!

    by mariej500 on 7/25/13The Tulalip Amphitheatre - TulalipRating: 4 out of 5

The only bad thing about this concert was that Chance McKinney only played about 45 minutes as opener. I would have liked to hear more of his stuff.

  • gretchen wilson concert

by railnut on 7/25/13The Tulalip Amphitheatre - TulalipRating: 3 out of 5

gretchen puts on a fair show, but is the least liked of all female country singers by everyone I know. We came to see Clay Walker enjoyed Chance Mckinney just fine. One person discibed Gretchen in one word NASTY!!!!!

  • TOOOOO LOUD

by debbiebooker on 7/25/13The Tulalip Amphitheatre - TulalipRating: 1 out of 5

Chance McKinney and Clay Walker were awesome. Then when Gretchen came on it was so loud that my chest was vibrating. We were not even close to the stage. We had seats in the back section isle 24. Why did it have to be so loud???? It was capable of drowning out the sound of a 747. At first people were standing but I sat down right away with my head in my lap. during the second song people all around us started leaving. We left minutes after.

  • great show, bad event staffing

by nwezt on 7/24/13The Tulalip Amphitheatre - TulalipRating: 4 out of 5

the show was great but the event staff was very unproffessional. the number on his shirt was 4052, he had let some of his friends in the show without tickets and told them to stand between the beer garden and the general seating. when we asked them to move them, he laughed and said they could be anywhere he wanted them. We than asked the staff at the beer garden to move them and he did. but the other guy kept coming back and harrassing us and moving his friends around in front of the vip seating. it was bad enough that they change the arrangment of the beer garden area from show to show but adding the staff issues we were very dissapointed.

Gretchen rocked it! She gets better every time I see her live and loved how she mixed her music with some of rocks greatest hits.

We got a surprise third artist. We were moved from the Beer garden SRO to the $65 seats for free. All 3 artists were absolutely amazing.

Opened with Chance McKinney, followed by Clay Walker and then there was GRETCHEN. a GREAT concert! Watching the full- moon rise in the backdrop during Clay Walker's set was a sight to see....

  • Hot Hot Hot

by positraction on 7/24/13The Tulalip Amphitheatre - TulalipRating: 4 out of 5

OMG, Gretchin Wilson was fabulous, She reminds me of Janis Joplin only way hotter. Love the attitude and she rocked the stage. I am looking forward to the next time. The venue was pretty good. Security did a nice job controlling the overexcited fans and easy to move around.

  • Chance, Clay Walker, and Gretchen were tops!

by sfog on 7/24/13The Tulalip Amphitheatre - TulalipRating: 4 out of 5

Chance opened on a perfect Northwest night to rev up the crowd including a fun story of when he met Gretchen. Clay Walker and his band were an entire show within themselves. Gretchen had all her redneck women in an uproar! Was a whole night of singing and dancing along under a super moon!

  • Gretchen Wilson, Clay Walker and Chance McKinney

by NanoMan on 7/24/13The Tulalip Amphitheatre - TulalipRating: 4 out of 5

The performers were first class but it was impossible to separate the vocal from the band and it required a long time between performers to set up and take down. It is great to attract the level of talent that we saw but I don't know if I would go back again.

  • Redneckin' good time!

by Naomivb on 7/24/13The Tulalip Amphitheatre - TulalipRating: 4 out of 5

The opening singer was Chance McKinney and he did a really great job! I had never heard of him before until that night and I would even consider buying his cd. Next up was Clay Walker, he was great too. He was very entertaining and fun! We waited a while for Gretchen Wilson to come out after Clay. Not sure if they were waiting for the sun to go down so that we could see the light and what not they had going on on the stage but there was some long intermissions. She was awesome though and put on a great show! I would definitely go see her again!

Great Show! Clay Walker and Gretchen Wilson were amazing - as was Chance McKinney, their opening act!

It was awesome night with my best friend so surreal she rocked the venue

  • by hwnnn123 on 7/24/13The Tulalip Amphitheatre - TulalipRating: 1 out of 5

We went to this concert eagerly awaiting a great show By Gretchen Wilson but were terribly disappointed. The band amped up their bass guitar and drum so loudly that we could hardly hear Ms Wilson sing. Even with ear plugs we couldn't stand the noise and left the concert, along with many others, after only 4 songs. It was awful and we are rock and roll junkies. I would hope that the bands publicist reads these reviews and advises the band to reassess their bass volume.
