About

Gregory Porter on Tour

With his rich baritone voice and his mastery of the deepest traditions of soul, jazz and gospel, Gregory Porter has established himself as one of America's most versatile and acclaimed vocalists. His artistry and sensitivity is plain to the ear whether he's putting his stamp on beloved standards by heroes like Nat "King" Cole or demonstrating his own writing talents with original songs strong enough to stand with the many classics in his repertoire.

Produced by Troy Miller (Jamie Cullum, Laura Mvula), All Rise is Porter's sixth studio album and fourth for the iconic Blue Note label. Like his 2013 breakthrough Liquid Spirit — the Grammy Award winner for Best Jazz Vocal Album — Porter's latest is a confident display of his many gifts, starting with his ability to convey feelings of both exaltation and sadness with uncommon directness and warmth.

Selling out venues to capacity, like Warner Theatre (Washington, D.C.), as engaging and charismatic onstage as he is on his recordings, Porter performs in support of All Rise throughout 2020 in venues across the U.S. and Europe.

Gregory Porter in Concert

Though Gregory Porter has been widely heralded as one of the premier male vocalists in contemporary jazz, his roots in soul and gospel are just as deep. Raised in Bakersfield, California, he got his start in music singing in the church where his mother was a minister. After a promising athletic career was cut short by an injury, he came to New York in 2004 and began building his profile through appearances and residencies at clubs in Brooklyn and Harlem. Porter's albums for the Motéma label — Water (2010) and Be Good (2012) — introduced listeners to a remarkable talent whose baritone voice maintained his warmth and richness regardless of the style and setting. His first album for Blue Note, Liquid Spirit (2013), marked a wider breakthrough on both sides of the Atlantic, winning Porter his first Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album and reaching the Top 10 on the UK charts. In 2017, Porter released Nat King Cole & Me (2017), a collection of songs recorded and inspired by his lifelong idol. His sixth studio album, All Rise, is released in the spring of 2020, with Porter performing new dates in the U.S. and Europe.

  • Great night

by Swede on 8/19/25Country Club Hills Amphitheater - Country Club HillsRating: 5 out of 5

Despite the rain on and off , it was a great night of music . Gregory and his band really brought it. The facility is great , very easy in and out , no lines for drinks . The venue passed out free ponchos, a nice touch that came in handy .

  • Golden Voice

by David K on 7/7/25New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

Beautiful venue, convenient location, golden voice. The band lived and breathed as one organic unit.

  • MORE THAN I EXPECTED

by NJLADY on 7/3/25New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

As one lady said when we were leaving the venue "he didn't give a performance, he gave service". That is exactly what Mr. Porter did! His band was on point and Mr. Porter did not disappoint. I will go see him whenever he is in town.

  • Disappointed

by Greg Porter Fan on 7/2/25New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 3 out of 5

My husband and I have attended Gregory Porter’s Valentine’s Day concert every year he has had one except this year. So I was happy to learn he’d be in our area in June. We were so disappointed when the opening act performed about as long as Porter. And when he rushed off the stage less than a minute into Be Good, I was flabbergasted. Wow! What a disappointment.

  • EXCELLENT

by Lisa on 7/2/25New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

Absolutely a great affair. from the time i came to the PAC. No problem at all, A great bonus was being a TD Bank member and was able to go and have refreshment and sit down and enjoy the beautiful view. it exceeded my expectation. Gregory Porter was OUTSTANDING. And once the Concert was over , There was entertainment outside that was so nice to just sit back and unwind.

  • Gregory Porter at NJPAC

by Jimmy on 7/2/25New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 1 out of 5

Gregory Porter is a professional and excellent vocalist. The members in the band were excellent. However, the performance lasted precisely 65 minutes. This was quite an expensive show and quite a trip from NYC. I think the audience is entitled to more.

  • Gregory Porter the BEST

by Hope on 7/2/25Rating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing Gregory Porter live, at NJ PAC. His opening act was phenomenal. But Gregory didn’t disappoint. He gave me the groove I needed. This was also the first time I attended a concert alone. It was in the afternoon and I felt safe at the venue. Gregory has a lot of GREAT songs, which he didn’t get to perform a lot of. His band was excellent!!!! My only complaint, which is not a COMPLAINT, is the set was too short. I know performing is a lot, but I needed more of Gregory Porter.

  • Even for jazz non-connoiseurs the show was espectacular.

by Excellent show. on 7/2/25New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

Everybody was very, very kind and helpful. No issues with the sitting arrangements

  • Gregory Porter, The Storyteller

by Nashon & Missy on 7/2/25New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

Mr. Porter assisted us in starting a much needed vacation. Hours after leaving his performance in Newark at the NJ Performing Arts Center, we took a flight out to San Diego to celebrate our 23rd anniversary. This was our fourth live Gregory Porter performance and each time, we have been drawn by his great stage presence and incredible vocal skills.

  • Never disappoints

by ReginaD on 7/2/25New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

Gregory Porter and Sounds of April & Randall were excellent and have yet to disappoint me. I've seen both many times and each time I have completely enjoyed myself. Great performances.

  • A pleasure seeing Gregory Porter!

by mariageovann on 7/2/25New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

It was a great time going to NJPAC in Newark. The facility was nice, staff went above and beyond to direct you to your seat. Very friendly staff! Concert was great! Aprill and Randall were so good! So happy to have been able to see them for the first time. As for Gregory Porter, loved, loved, loved him! I would see him again!

  • Terrible Sound Quality

by Kurt on 1/10/25Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 3 out of 5

Not to take anything away from GP and his band, but sound quality was terrible! I sat up in the mezanine left side. It could have been our location. The sound was too loud drowning out Gregory's voice and the band sound seemed mashed together. Not sure how sound changes with different artists at the Paramount Theater, but I have been to many other concerts there with great sound quality. Was very disappointed.

  • Enchanting voice Wow!

    by Dawn B on 1/6/25Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing Gregory Porter in concert and he was fabulous! His voice and lyrics just amazing. Music soulful, energizing, deep, loving, sensual, etc. The venue, the Paramount theatre was very comfortable, clean and the ambience, decor was fabulous. I stayed at the Grand Hyatt and it was exquisite. This short trip was just right and I would do it again. Gregory Porter fabulous singer!

  • Great performance

  • Gregory Porter Concert at Dolby Theater

    by Cheryl D on 1/4/25Dolby Theatre - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Outstanding. Started shortly after scheduled time. Mr. Porter came out and got busy. Love his voice. He Sounded as expected and the band was phenomenal!! Great venue!

  • Great Concert

by Terrance on 1/4/25Dolby Theatre - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Gregory Porter put on a fabulous concert, not a show. His band was so tight and each musician was a performance by themselves. He performed 2 1/2 hours straight…..who does that these days? I have seen him a couple times before but this was sooo over the top.

  • Soulfully Spiritual

by Fuji on 1/4/25Dolby Theatre - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Beautiful voice, beautiful music. Deeply soulful experience. We grooved to the sounds and related to the inspirations for his music. His stories were culturally grounded and touching. He is like a breath of perfect air - full of nurturing elements lifting you up to exhale in total pleasure. My husband and I would go again and again and again.

  • I Absolutely Loved The Show!

by Sweet Bus Angel on 1/3/25Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

I listened to him exclusively, when I lost my Sister, this year for months! He was so compelling The acoustics absolutely complimented him and the band. I was in Heaven!
