GREGORY ALAN ISAKOV IN CONCERT:

Folk singer-songwriter Gregory Alan Isakov has been enthralling audiences with his strong vocals and smooth acoustic tunes since the mid-'90s. His solo live performances are filled with passion and emotion, and he tells affecting stories with powerful lyrics on fan favorites like "The Stable Song" and "Big Black Car". Whether he's strumming his Gibson or performing alongside a full orchestra, Isakov commands the stage with ease and has ticket buyers coming out in droves to his exciting live shows.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Johannesburg and raised in Pennsylvania, Gregory Alan Isakov got his start at age 16 touring with a local band. While in college at Naropa University, Isakov began penning songs about his travels and worldly experiences and collaborated with other musicians on campus. His acoustic-driven music and narrative lyrics truly took shape when he recorded and released his 2003 debut Rust Colored Stones, an earthy album that showcased his songwriting talents and soothing vocals. He’s spent time on the road touring the US, Canada, and Europe with his band and has gained a devoted following along the way. Since then Isakov has released three more acclaimed albums including 2013’s Weatherman, which peaked at No. 1 on the Top Heatseekers Albums chart and earned major critical praise. With his solid collection of folk ballads, the humble singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist creates an intimate experience for concertgoers every time he takes the stage.

  • Awesome experience

by Jo on 1/24/23The Fillmore Charlotte - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

Got to see one of my favorites while in Charlotte. Gregory Alan Isakov, what a great performer and his band was just Amazing. I also loved how funny he actually is he had everyone laughing with his stories. Seeing him live made me love him even more! He performed a new song from his upcoming album and it was just beautiful!

  • Sucked, standing only.

by Me on 1/24/23The Fillmore Charlotte - CharlotteRating: 1 out of 5

If I had known it was standing only, I wouldn't have gotten tickets.

  • He should have played longer!

by Jaybird on 1/24/23The Fillmore Charlotte - CharlotteRating: 4 out of 5

He is one of our favorite artists. Since there was no opener, we assumed he would play 2-hours. The show was amazing but they came out 15-20 minutes late and then only played a little over 1 1/2 hours. Disappointed, to be honest.

  • AMAZING...each and every time

4th time seeing him perform and each time is stellar.

The concert was great and so were the employees. Everything was easily done and the lines to get a drink weren’t long.

Both concerts were fantastic. I have listened to this artist for years and even still both performances surpassed my expectations

  • Gregory Alan Isakov at the Ryman

by Frank on 4/5/22Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

This was our fourth Gregory Alan Isakov concert and first ever show at the Ryman. We were really excited about our seats and the historic venue--both exceeded our expectations. The seats are a great value, and the sound is amazing. Gregory and his band performed wonderfully, and the crowd was very receptive and appreciative. We plan to see these musicians again and visit the Ryman and Nashville in the future.

  • Fast Flashing Lights and Drunk People

by meridoodle on 4/2/22Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 3 out of 5

I loved the performances by both Joe Purdy and Gregory Alan Isakov, but Isakov’s use of flashing lights (without prior announcement or warning) caused me to panic. I am very sensitive to light/sound over stimulus and I have a history of seizures (and this was my first concert, so maybe lesson learned). An announcement prior to the performance would have been nice. I also had an issue with the ushers’ lack of attention to disruptive audience members. There was a drunk couple that was yelling obscenities for most of the concert until another audience member said something. Only one of them was kicked out; the other facetimed her and was loudly talking to her on the phone during the concert. It was very distracting and people kept looking back at them. The ushers only handled half the issue when someone complained.

  • Out of this world!

by ColoradoK on 4/1/22Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

There aren't adequate words to describe how fantastic the bands performance was at the Ryman. Suffice it to say that it may have rivaled their concert at Red Rocks with the Colorado Symphony. They're a not to be missed Americana icon.

  • Best poet alive

by Gmart on 4/1/22Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

What an amazing experience. Gregory incorporates pure poetry in his music. I've never heard anything that comes close to his craft. His full band is a joy to listen to and experiencing them with my first visit to the Ryman was something I will never forget.

  • Amazing experience

by Shreve on 3/30/22Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

My daughter and I went as I surprised her with Xmas tickets so we waited for a while for the concert. we were both so excited and the night did not disappoint at all. Gregory is obviously a very gifted artist and we could listen to him play into eternity. A perfect evening.

  • OUTSTANDING

by Hobo Bill on 3/29/22Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

My experience was exactly what I was expecting from a truly excellent Artist. GAI brought the house down in Atlanta. If you really go back to his beginnings, you can really hear how he has evolved with his playing, song writing, and Producing. Every album is a growing process from the previous album. I will(god willing), of course, go see him again.I have seen him now twice(Chattanooga fall 21) and here in Atlanta. He was well worth it. I hope to see him again. william crawford.

  • Great music, but we were freezing

by Gregory Alan Isakov Fan on 3/29/22Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

We love Gregory Alan Isakov, and the venue is really cool, but we had a problem. We were on the third level of the Tabernacle and the security staff insisted on keeping the doors to the fire escape open. We were in section 303, right next to the fire escape, and this meant we were freezing most of the night as cold air was coming in constantly. I asked a security staff person if the door could be closed, but he said that they were required to keep them open. Ok, but that seems odd. I just accepted what he said. Then later during the show, one of the staffers came up and shut the door. So, what gives? My wife and I were freezing, had paid good money to attend, and were suffering it seems for no reason? If you attend the tabernacle on the top level near the corners, be aware this might be an issue.

  • Fantastic except for the people who don't know how to wisper

by Sayruh loves music on 3/29/22Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

I love the tabernacle and I absolutely adore the artists playing that evening. It was slightly soured by the folks around me that wouldn't stop talking. It took away from the experience and is extremely rude.

  • Way too much waiting

by Timmer on 3/28/22The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 1 out of 5

Show to start at 8:00 pm. Apparently, there was a "warm-up" artist who came out at 8:30 pm. She played well for about 30 minutes, then left. One Guy! came out and began doing sound checks on everything. At 9:30 there was still no main artist. We left disappointed, without even seeing him. Waste of time, waste of money.

  • Always amazing

by Chef G on 3/27/22The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve seen GAI four times over the last 6yrs or so. Waiting for over two years to see him again might bias my review slightly, but I couldn’t think of a better act to welcome live music back in my life. The band is great, the show so entertaining while still seeming incredibly humble. Amazing, again. One of my all time favorites.

  • amazing!!

    by Y. L. on 11/29/21Rialto Theatre-Tucson - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

It was awesome to have Gregory back in Rialto after almost 3 years! The music was fantastic, the crowd was supportive and fun, and it was especially amazing to enjoy Gregory's old songs with beautiful harmonies at the end of the show. I'm so glad I talked my friend into this concert and bought the tickets back in summer. Loved that the concert staff patiently checked everyone's ID and vaccination record at the gate. Amazing experience!
