GREGORY ALAN ISAKOV IN CONCERT:

Folk singer-songwriter Gregory Alan Isakov has been enthralling audiences with his strong vocals and smooth acoustic tunes since the mid-'90s. His solo live performances are filled with passion and emotion, and he tells affecting stories with powerful lyrics on fan favorites like "The Stable Song" and "Big Black Car". Whether he's strumming his Gibson or performing alongside a full orchestra, Isakov commands the stage with ease and has ticket buyers coming out in droves to his exciting live shows.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Johannesburg and raised in Pennsylvania, Gregory Alan Isakov got his start at age 16 touring with a local band. While in college at Naropa University, Isakov began penning songs about his travels and worldly experiences and collaborated with other musicians on campus. His acoustic-driven music and narrative lyrics truly took shape when he recorded and released his 2003 debut Rust Colored Stones, an earthy album that showcased his songwriting talents and soothing vocals. He’s spent time on the road touring the US, Canada, and Europe with his band and has gained a devoted following along the way. Since then Isakov has released three more acclaimed albums including 2013’s Weatherman, which peaked at No. 1 on the Top Heatseekers Albums chart and earned major critical praise. With his solid collection of folk ballads, the humble singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist creates an intimate experience for concertgoers every time he takes the stage.

Gregory Alan Isakov and his band are the very best performers. It's a privilege to attend their shows, and I got every year because the beauty of the music and the joyous environment is not to be missed.

Gregory Alan Isakov puts on one heck of a show. Lucius was equally amazing! Tabernacle never disappoints. One of my best experiences ever.

  • Left early

by Amos on 10/5/23The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

Chicago Theater is great, seamless entry and seating, enjoyed many shows there in the past. Vocals and quality of music performance were great, except regular technological voice distortion as a special effect was disappointing. The artist had little stage presence and audience engagement though obviously talented. Lighting decisions were awful, turning lights off the stage often and lighting the crowd too much. Just let us see the show. Audience members frequently shouted stupid comments during quiet periods of the performance or when the artist was rarely speaking. Maybe too much opening artist time to let folks get too hammered. Love the artist but would skip the live show unless hardcore fan.

These shows neve cese to amaze and give you a few hours to open up, His music builds slowly and you find yourself humming along, allwile keeping a laid back an light hearted atmosphere..but don't be fooled that's when a wall of music comes and pulls you in by the head and the heart.. Thank you, Mr. Gregory Alan Isakov..

  • Bad acoustics

by Susulka on 10/4/23The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

We saw the artist at the Chicago Theatre and sat in the main area downstairs, beneath the mezzanine. The acoustics were horrible, could not understand the vocals and there was no balance between the many instruments in play at this concert. Perhaps it was our seat location. The best part of the concert was the encore, where the musicians clustered together in a group for an acoustic performance.

  • Perfection — As Usual

by Mister Moose on 8/26/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Gregory Alan Isakov is a brilliant performer. His show at the Masonic was excellent. On the heels of an awesome opening set by Shovels & Rope, Isakov and band then moved through an incredible 18 song set (including a three song encore). His voice, his band, his song selection — all impeccable. I can not recommend this performer enough.

  • One of the best shows ever!

  • Beautiful

    by E. T. on 8/25/23Rating: 5 out of 5

We saw Gregory at the Paramount and it was amazing. I would argue he sounded so much better in person. The vocals and instrumentals were amazing. Just booked tickets to see him again in a different state, it was that good.

  • Disappointment

by Joye on 8/22/23Rating: 2 out of 5

Thank you for this opportunity. I could not reiterate more how much I love the music of Greg and the band. This was our 10th concert with him over 9 years. Including 2 trips to Red Rocks. However, the Paramount show was terrible. We left after 1/3 of the concert. The sound and echo was disconcerting . Greg did not sound like himself. Broke my heart, and we will definitely attend one of his concerts again. Not at the Paramount however. Saw a video the next night at the Showbox and the sound was great.

  • So Good

by Lindsey on 8/21/23Rating: 4 out of 5

I loved seeing Gregory Alan Isakov! He's one of my all time favorites! My issue was that he started so late. Concert started at 8, he didn't come on until almost 9:30. His music is more mellow, so while it was very exciting to be there, me and my friends were all falling asleep! We had to get up early the next morning for another event, so we ended up having to leave early. I was sad I didn't get to see the full show, but the part we did see was so amazing!

  • Amazing

    by Momof3 on 8/21/23Rating: 5 out of 5

This concert was amazing! The Paramount Theater is an incredible venue. There is NOT a bad seat in the house. Gregory Ivan puts on a spectacular show. He is better live. He preforms with a group of 6 and the combination of sounds is like a modern folk orchestra.
