GREGORY ALAN ISAKOV IN CONCERT:

Folk singer-songwriter Gregory Alan Isakov has been enthralling audiences with his strong vocals and smooth acoustic tunes since the mid-'90s. His solo live performances are filled with passion and emotion, and he tells affecting stories with powerful lyrics on fan favorites like "The Stable Song" and "Big Black Car". Whether he's strumming his Gibson or performing alongside a full orchestra, Isakov commands the stage with ease and has ticket buyers coming out in droves to his exciting live shows.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Johannesburg and raised in Pennsylvania, Gregory Alan Isakov got his start at age 16 touring with a local band. While in college at Naropa University, Isakov began penning songs about his travels and worldly experiences and collaborated with other musicians on campus. His acoustic-driven music and narrative lyrics truly took shape when he recorded and released his 2003 debut Rust Colored Stones, an earthy album that showcased his songwriting talents and soothing vocals. He’s spent time on the road touring the US, Canada, and Europe with his band and has gained a devoted following along the way. Since then Isakov has released three more acclaimed albums including 2013’s Weatherman, which peaked at No. 1 on the Top Heatseekers Albums chart and earned major critical praise. With his solid collection of folk ballads, the humble singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist creates an intimate experience for concertgoers every time he takes the stage.

  • THE best

Loved the venue and especially loved Gregory Alan Isakov and his musicians. Absolutely epic. The lighting and sound people were amazing too. Everything was perfect.

  • Not perfect

by Mela on 10/21/23MTELUS - MontrealRating: 4 out of 5

GAI is very generous as a performer and the audience was the most engaged and polite of the many I have seen in 20 years. Thank you so much. The musicianship was wonderful but the full band overwhelmed the venue and the songs themselves. The sound was also muddy in the first half but maybe that was just the balcony. So happy that there is seating in a balcony, though. Maybe we will cross paths with him someday at Gold Hill.

  • Gregory Alan Isakov

by Mykia on 10/17/23The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

OMG!! This was such a great experience so much fun. The double-encore situation was exciting and the last performance of stable song brought me to tears. The opening performance was incredible… I’m still tracking down songs from the performance. My first time visiting this venue…Food, bar, organization/helpful staff, beautiful lighting, & overall energy was on point. Gregory & Lucious gave us their all! Perfect show for autumn ☺️

  • Truly Fabulous

by FurBrrr on 10/16/23The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

The show was more amazing than I could have hoped for. He along with the band sounded better live than some of the studio-recorded songs – an incredible feat. I hope to catch another one of his shows soon!

  • Great - but terrible parking

by Kt on 10/16/23The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

Venue was beautiful. Isakov was lovely. Parking was chaos. Terribly disorganized. Paid to get in and out of the garage. Absolutely ridiculous.

  • A must see

GAI put on a great concert playing both new releases and old favorites. He's a must-see live artist.

  • Excellent Experience All-Around

by Matt on 10/16/23The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

I've always really liked Isakov's music but this concert brought it to another level. The instrumentals and visuals were riveting in person. He definitely knows how to put on a show!

  • simply awesome

by Bonnie B on 10/14/23Firefly Distillery - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

The outdoor venue always makes the experience a question mark. In this case it was rain … but it stayed mostly away until the end! I could hear the music wherever I was walking so you didn’t need to be up front . I saw Gregory Alan Isakov In 2019 in Charleston so I knew it would be awesome and he and his pals did not disappoint ! There are moments when his voice comes over the crowd and it is so powerful it can make tears come to your eyes . The instrumentals / acoustic sound were second to none . This is a very special group of musicians and the energy and comeraderie they share is palpable . I hope it does not take them another four years to return to us . worth every penny !!

  • Wonderful!

by Steve on 10/14/23Firefly Distillery - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

On a wet, dreary night, the sound was excellent! Venue is great. It would be nice if they could add parking, and I miss being able to bring lawn chairs, but great otherwise. Millers All Day food truck was TASTY!

  • Top 5 concerts

by Jodi on 10/11/23Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This was an amazing concert. It is in my top 5, and I see a lot of live music.

  • Great Singer/Songwriter, Great Showo

by Second to Isbell, Only on 10/11/23Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

It's hard for an artist to not get inspired by performing at The Tabernacle. Isakov was no exception. He put on an excellent show, interacting with the audience and playing old favorites and new ones. No complaints about the performance or the venue. I can't wait to head back for another concert.
