GREGORY ALAN ISAKOV IN CONCERT:

Folk singer-songwriter Gregory Alan Isakov has been enthralling audiences with his strong vocals and smooth acoustic tunes since the mid-'90s. His solo live performances are filled with passion and emotion, and he tells affecting stories with powerful lyrics on fan favorites like "The Stable Song" and "Big Black Car". Whether he's strumming his Gibson or performing alongside a full orchestra, Isakov commands the stage with ease and has ticket buyers coming out in droves to his exciting live shows.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Johannesburg and raised in Pennsylvania, Gregory Alan Isakov got his start at age 16 touring with a local band. While in college at Naropa University, Isakov began penning songs about his travels and worldly experiences and collaborated with other musicians on campus. His acoustic-driven music and narrative lyrics truly took shape when he recorded and released his 2003 debut Rust Colored Stones, an earthy album that showcased his songwriting talents and soothing vocals. He’s spent time on the road touring the US, Canada, and Europe with his band and has gained a devoted following along the way. Since then Isakov has released three more acclaimed albums including 2013’s Weatherman, which peaked at No. 1 on the Top Heatseekers Albums chart and earned major critical praise. With his solid collection of folk ballads, the humble singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist creates an intimate experience for concertgoers every time he takes the stage.

  • Excellent show

by CS on 3/21/25Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

Wife and I were very impressed with the show. First time seeing Isakov but have long been a fan. Played for nearly two hours and the orchestration was excellent. Felt it was good value for ticket prices, too. We would definitely do it again.

Not enough good things I can say about their music. If you don’t get it, that’s okay. It’s not for everyone. But for those who it’s for, they’ll never disappoint. Spiritual experience.

So beautiful! Loved seeing the full symphony and Gregory’s band work together and sounds so great!

  • Incredible

I am an easy person to please so take my opinion with a grain of salt. But Gregory was utterly amazing. The symphony and him was phenomenal. You could feel the music in the air and his setlist was perfect. I loved it, as did my friend who went with me. He’s certainly a shy performer, but once he opened up, he was just amazing.

  • Venue Policies

by Patron on 3/19/25Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts - GreensboroRating: 4 out of 5

As always, Gregory Alan Isakov was fantastic, along with the Greensboro Symphony. The venue should: 1) Consider a dress code. 2) Not allow late patrons to come into the auditorium after the show has started. It is disruptive and disrespectful to the performers, and the other patrons who’ve paid their hard earned money to see a performer they enjoy. If you can’t get to the show on time, guess what, you’ll have to wait until intermission. If you leave during a 1 hour see, guess what, you’ll have to wait until intermission, or miss the second half if you leave during the second set.

Always a great show, and with the symphony it was magical.

  • Could not see the performers.

by JB on 3/19/25Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts - GreensboroRating: 2 out of 5

We were frustrated. When we go to a live performance we like to see the performers. Only occasionally could we see their faces and barely their instruments. They were backlit for most of the show with weird lights that were not bright. The music was okay We didn't know his music that well but we like a few of his songs. We left at intermission.

  • Exceptional

by Tim S. on 3/19/25Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts - GreensboroRating: 5 out of 5

GAI did not disappoint, he always kicks it up a notch each time we see him. (7 times now) The Greensboro Symphony were fantastic. Highly recommend his band with an orchestra any day of the week.

  • Awesome Show! Great sound! Great set list!

by ChrisC on 3/19/25Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts - GreensboroRating: 5 out of 5

Long time fan, but first time seeing Gregory Alan Isakov live. The Greensboro show was so much better than expected, and I had, in my mind, set a pretty high bar. He opened with my favorite! Amsterdam! and proceeded to include EVERY song that I have come to love! San Luis, The Fall, The Stable Song, If I go I'm goin, so many more... Isakov and his band were incredible but when backed by the Greensboro Symphony with the Dragon at the helm, their music was pushed to levels of greatness that I didn't think possible. Tanger did a great job of hosting... friendly staff, awesome acoustics, Sold out Crowd! So.... yeah... It was good!!!!

  • Gregory Alan Isakov and the Greensboro Symphony

by Montiesw on 3/19/25Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts - GreensboroRating: 5 out of 5

This was our fifth time seeing Gregory Alan Isakov, but our first with the addition of the symphony. The performance was breathtaking. I didn’t think his show could be any better than previous performances, but I was wrong. The addition of the symphony was like the icing on the cake. They entire experience was phenomenal. I look forward to seeing another show in the future.

  • Love Gregory Alan Isakov.

I’ve seen gregory Alan Isakov a number of times in different venues. The theater is Tucson wasn’t my favorite. I like the Arizona financial theater better.

  • GAI is simply terrific!

by Jamie on 2/6/25Linda Ronstadt Music Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

Gregory Alan Isakov is such a talented musician and song writer. This was the third time I've seen him and I am always astounded with his musical accumen. This concert was much mellower without the full band but he put his heart on his sleeve with his lyrics and inter-song stories. Having Steve Varney play several songs with Gregory was a treat with his multi-faceted talents and beautiful harmonizing. It was also cool to have his brother on stage for a few songs. My only criticism was that the stage was too dimly lit which made it difficult to see the faces. Adding a few more lumens would be appreciated. I would highly recommend to anyone that they catch one Gregory's concerts. The upcoming concerts with orchestras should be off the charts.

  • Moving Performance and Atmosphere

by Rebecca on 2/6/25Linda Ronstadt Music Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

Gregory (and his band members) have the ability to give you the experience of floating while sitting in your seat. His voice and the harmonies were strong, the dark stage added to the atmosphere of the show and his humor kept you smiling while floating. The overall sound was booming and soft.

  • Great music, great format

by A Moore on 2/6/25Linda Ronstadt Music Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

This was one of my favorite Gregory Alan Isakov shows. The more laid back atmosphere and the music all made for a great evening of music.

  • Bummer

by Crash on 2/3/25Grace Cathedral - San FranciscoRating: 1 out of 5

I’ve seen GAI live more times than I can count at multiple venues across the US. This show was a bummer. Grace Cathedral is beautiful but it was frigid. The seating was disorganized and the sound was less than best. It felt like an old tavern show with the price tag of an exclusive tour.

  • Not bad but not what I paid for

by Peters on 10/25/24Red Hat Amphitheater - RaleighRating: 3 out of 5

One of the three original performances showed up. While Mr. Isakov gave a great performance I flew from states away for the secret sister and Ray as well. Did we get a discount, a coupon or anything due to the performers not coming? You are correct NO.

  • The aesthetic alone was worth it!

by Juniper on 10/18/24Red Hat Amphitheater - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

My best friend and I had an AMAZING time! There's never a bad seat at Red Hat, so being on the lawn, sitting on a blanket under the stars, with cool autum air, and listening to Gregory Alan Isakov, it was an experience to say the least. I love Gregory's voice and found it calm and soothing. I was a little sad that Ray LaMontagne was sick and couldn't perform but I had bought the tickets for both headliners anyway. And I am so glad I did! You can tell Gregory and the band really care about their craft. They are not there to just play songs that people know and get out. They played extended intros and interludes and endings. You could tell they reveled in the joy of making music, not just as a job but as an art. I would see them again in a heartbeat!

  • Refund request honored

by Mzzb on 10/16/24Red Hat Amphitheater - RaleighRating: 4 out of 5

After having an unsatisfactory phone discussion regarding refund on unused tickets, I was pleasantly surprises to receive a full refund on my purchase. Due to illness the starring artist had to cancel. I decided not to attend and requested a refund immediately to be in the window allowed for them. After some phone hassle and several days with no response from the higher-ups I was excited to recieve notification that my request was legitimate and honored by Ticketmaster

  • GREAT!
