GREGORY ALAN ISAKOV IN CONCERT:

Folk singer-songwriter Gregory Alan Isakov has been enthralling audiences with his strong vocals and smooth acoustic tunes since the mid-'90s. His solo live performances are filled with passion and emotion, and he tells affecting stories with powerful lyrics on fan favorites like "The Stable Song" and "Big Black Car". Whether he's strumming his Gibson or performing alongside a full orchestra, Isakov commands the stage with ease and has ticket buyers coming out in droves to his exciting live shows.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Johannesburg and raised in Pennsylvania, Gregory Alan Isakov got his start at age 16 touring with a local band. While in college at Naropa University, Isakov began penning songs about his travels and worldly experiences and collaborated with other musicians on campus. His acoustic-driven music and narrative lyrics truly took shape when he recorded and released his 2003 debut Rust Colored Stones, an earthy album that showcased his songwriting talents and soothing vocals. He’s spent time on the road touring the US, Canada, and Europe with his band and has gained a devoted following along the way. Since then Isakov has released three more acclaimed albums including 2013’s Weatherman, which peaked at No. 1 on the Top Heatseekers Albums chart and earned major critical praise. With his solid collection of folk ballads, the humble singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist creates an intimate experience for concertgoers every time he takes the stage.

  • GAI never disappoints!

by Emily Alix on 8/25/25Thompson's Point - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

This was my second time seeing Gregory Alan Isakov and both times were incredible. He puts on an unbeatable show and I love to see how much the band members actually enjoy playing together. I'm seeing him again in January and am counting down the days! He does a great job of mixing up songs from all of his albums and doesn't play the exact same show twice.

  • A spectacular performance

by indieHD on 8/25/25Thompson's Point - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Having seen Gregory Allan Isakov eight times, this was perhaps his best performance yet. The hauntingly beautiful violin work and standup bass brought new depth to the studio recordings and made for a riveting performance. The venue at Thompson's Point in Portland, Maine, is an incredible spot (despite the mediocre beverage menu -- no red wine, no Bissell Bros IPA?!). A cool, dry August evening with abundant food trucks, the sun on the water, and the inaudible freeway in the distance made for a welcome juxtaposition of city meets serenity. A beautiful performance on a beautiful evening at a beautiful venue. 10/10!

  • amazing performance

by aves on 8/21/25The Astro Theater - La VistaRating: 4 out of 5

The performance by Gregory Alan Isakov was amazing and he seems like a genuine, down-to-earth, and very talented artist. I absolutely love his music and believe that he is truly gifted in telling stories through his music. The ONLY downside was that I could hardly see what was going on because it was standing room only and I, unfortunately, am fairly short. I feel like there definitely could have been a better setup but I’m not sure what that would be.

  • Lights UP Sound DOWN

by Dancnglibrarian on 8/21/25The Astro Theater - La VistaRating: 3 out of 5

Gregory is indeed an amazing musician with impeccable lyrics and soothing melodies, but I would have loved to see him! The stage lights were ridiculously low - I was unable to see which musician was playing what instrument! And one volume- LOUD . This music is too beautiful to be blasted, but blasted it was. I actually walked away with sadness that my senses were overloaded with volume and strain (to actually SEE what was going on. I crave serene human analogue not digital hyperbole.

  • Life Changing Concert

by Ana on 4/21/25Atlanta Symphony Hall - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Seeing Gregory Alan Isakov for the first time and having it be with an orchestra was truly a life changing experience. The concert has given me a greater appreciation for his music and for the musicians he performed alongside of. Truly one of my favorite concerts which was of course elevated by the lovely and helpful staff at the venue! Such a wonderful experience!

  • Amazing music and great venue!!!

    by Kris03 on 3/31/25Atlanta Symphony Hall - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

What a great experience. Gregory Alan Isakov and the Atlanta Symphony were at their best! What a great tour!

  • Third time - best yet!

by Amy on 3/27/25Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

This was our third time seeing Gregory Alan Isakov in concert in Asheville and was the best yet! Adding the Asheville Symphony was AMAZING! My ONLY critique is about the quality of the venue. The staff was phenomenal, but the actual venue was a struggle. Accoustics were rough, facility falling apart - please try another venue next time!! (Harrahs - come on, put some money into renovations here! Pieces are the ceiling are literally falling off).

  • Amazing

by Barb on 3/26/25Atlanta Symphony Hall - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Gregory Izakov was amazing and the Atlanta symphony played beautifully with him and his band. It was an unforgettable evening.

  • Best show of my life

by Alana on 3/26/25Atlanta Symphony Hall - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

3rd time seeing Greg and this time with the symphony was other worldly. Acoustics were incredible. Basically cried for 2 hours straight. Love Greg, his band, and the Atlanta Pop Symphony was incredible. You could tell they were having the best time playing Gregory’s songs.

  • Simply put: Magical

by Ryan L. on 3/25/25Capital One Hall - TysonsRating: 5 out of 5

Tough to put into words of the performance I experienced. The combination of Gregory's voice paired with the sounds of the symphony was nothing short of amazing... Beautiful venue with comfy seats, ample leg room, and great sound acoustics.

  • Good Music, Distracting Lighting

by cici on 3/25/25Capital One Hall - TysonsRating: 3 out of 5

The lighting was awful. The symphony was lit (in a weird blue), but only the drummer and sometimes piano player were lit from the band. I was center orchestra, Row N, so I should have been able to see the band, but they were in shadow the entire time. It was quite distracting.

  • The best

This show was the best show i’ve ever been to. hands down.

  • Exceptional and beautiful

by Josh on 3/24/25Capital One Hall - TysonsRating: 5 out of 5

Gregory Alan Isakov with the Fairfax Symphony was a once in a lifetime experience. It was so beautiful and so beautifully put together. The entire theatre got lost for two hours in Gregory’s music. Recommend 10000 percent.

  • The most magical experience

by MJ on 3/24/25Capital One Hall - TysonsRating: 5 out of 5

This show was life changing and evoked so many deep emotions. The symphony was perfection along with Gregory and the band.

  • Genuinely Incredible

by Peyton C on 3/22/25Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve been a fan of Greg for a couple years now and to say that this experience was breathtaking would be an understatement. I attending the event with a friend and got good seats (Orchestra Right Row N) which were not too costly. My view was amazing and the whole concert felt so intimate. Seeing my favorite artist was awesome, but paired with a symphony was astonishing. Harrahs was a nice venue and not overwhelming at all. One of the best concerts I’ve been to!

  • Amazing

by HLB on 3/22/25Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - AshevilleRating: 4 out of 5

The band and orchestra were beyond fantastic. The ladies room closest to the seating area was out of soap early in the night and I did find the lines for the women’s bathrooms to be extremely long. I do think the seats were wayy farther to the right of the stage than expected, which left me a little bummed out. For the price, I would have rather sat elsewhere, farther away, but more centered.

  • Fantastic show!

Exceptional show. Can’t say enough good things about it.
