Hysterical! Great venue. Wait staff! We tell our friends to go next time!!!!!!!
A great show. The two comedians on before him were great, and Greg even greater. Love the small, intimate venue. Stood outside in a line for 45 mins, and so worth it as we were sat right in front of the mic. Did not find the humor or language offensive. Will definitely be going back to that venue, and to see Greg also.
Greg was in fine form in front of a "home crowd", keeping the audience audience enthralled and berrating them in equal measure. Much fun was had and we even managed to secure thr "two drink minimum" for a change :)
Ad libbing is a double-edged sword, but it seemed to work out this time. Very clever.
Damn fine show, m'man! Greg Proops' wit and delivery were razor sharp on this fine evening. We were lucky enough to land front-row seats and could easily see the faces of all the others around the stage. Everyone was fully engaged (if not sometimes puzzled as his erudite rants sailed above their education level) as he pulled the laughs from deeeep within our gut. He's not a diet-comedian that will leave you with only a few chuckles. Greg's a pro - you gotta work for it. Fast talkin', complex trains of thought take you on a ride that sometimes leaves you bruised if he happens to shine a light on your particular habits or demographic. But it's a tough love, Korean body scrub kinda pain.. hurts so good. I'll definitely recommend Proops and the Punch line SF to everyone I can.
Proops is hilarious - biting, smart, quick, informed, current, topical, genius. Such a professional comic - so comfortable on stage, esp in his home town. I went to see 2 of his appearances while in SF...if you're a comedy fan, he's a must catch.
I've seen him a few times and while he's always dropping elaborate jokes using a wide range of vocabulary his show didn't offer that many punchlines. Some of the stories were creative but others kind of just came to a dead end. More of a rant that a humorous journey through his story. I think he's great but this show kinda missed the mark.
If negativity, swearing and rudeness make u laugh- he's ok. I am not uptight and I can love a nasty comic. Eg I like Katt Williams. Greg just seemed like a mean drunk though and not really that funny. That being said I did laugh at times just not nearly as hard as I was hoping I would. His arrogance just kind of made him fall flat because it just wasn't funny enough to justify it.. I am a sf local so I did get most of his loal flavor but also a lot of esoteric and local references so a tourist would definitely be put off. Disappointing. Maybe he was just too tweaked that night?
I thought he brought up to many personal thoughts of his own on subjects that are very sensitive to the public we were a lil uncomfortable
First two guys were really good - great jokes, timing and pacing. Unfortunately, the headliner was not as good. The first half hour was painful because the only words he seems to know are f***k, s***t and other swear words. I am not a prude, in fact, I can swear like a sailor. But really???? Do you need to f-bomb every 10 seconds to be funny? I don't think so. The middle of the set and the ending was better but it was still not the quality we expected.
Awesome show, he's hillarious. Nice venue and waitstaff.
Greg Proops was fabulous! nice venue too..great staff!!
I had really high hopes going to this show. Greg seemed funny online and plus I remembered seeing him on TV so I was pretty sure I would get a great show. Sadly he used older words or words from another generation which made it hard for us to understand. I think his jokes are geared more for an older generation, like 40s and up.
Great club and waitstaff! Been going there for years. The MC and middle,Tinkle, we're a pleasant surprise-quite funny. Greg- just because we were at the early show doesnt mean we were all tourists/dolts. Too much about the weather, the burbs and the mural. Where's your edge gone? The Sports Illustrated bit was right on, more of that. Great seeing you again
Met Greg at the bar before the show, than in itself was great having seen him on TV for so long. I would have been happy just to have him sit down and talk. Greg has a odd, biting sense of humor that takes a little getting used to, but once he starts it is hard to resist laughing, and even more fun when his joke is buried a little in the context, and it hits you a second after the punch line what it actually was. If you looking for low-brow, slapstick humor, this is not for you. If you like thinking just a little deeper into what is funny with a very smart host, then this is the show for you.
I have been a fan of Greg Proops for some time now and have listened to all of his standup albums, the problem with that is that most of his current (july 2012) live show is re-used material from previous albums. This meant that I knew the outcome of most of the jokes and that they weren't that funny. However, to be fair, if you have not listened to his material much before then you would find this really entertaining. He still had a strong stage presence and had the crowds attention. The performance was not very long either, maybe 30 minutes. This seemed kind of short for the money I spent.
Greg Proops was excellent ! Love his knowledge of local events esp his take on the Giants championship win . Highly recommended - he gets the "uniqueness" of SF . I would give it 5 stars but Nato Green was not funny as his opening act . Nato needs some more polish on is act !
