  • Wonderful Experience

by captaero on 10/7/25Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts - GreensboroRating: 5 out of 5

Had not been to the Greensboro Symphony since the Fuchs era. I dropped my season membership in that era. Wow how things have changed! Only went because I'm obsessed with all of Beethoven's music I thought I'd give it another try. Christopher Dragon has given the symphony a new life and wonderful new energy. He has apparently boundless energy which is now in the symphony too. I am excited to renew my membership.

  • Tanger Center needs Orchestra Shell

by Mjoy on 5/21/25Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts - GreensboroRating: 3 out of 5

My critique is for the Tanger Center. We have been numerous times for theatrical plays as well as symphonic performances. When it comes to orchestras and symphonies, the sound is buried, and not clear at all. They need to install or have created for them an Orchestra shell of some sort to help send the sound out to the audience. The performance, however, of Mozarts Requiem was absolutely phenomenal. All of the artists were incredibly impressive ... stunning vocalists, stunning orchestra! So grateful we got to see this performance.

  • Well-performed

by Asheboro Fan on 5/20/25Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts - GreensboroRating: 4 out of 5

I think all of the performers did a marvelous job and seemingly worked very well together. The soloists gave solid performances, and the symphony, as always, was wonderful. My personal preference for orchestra music tends to be more toward the old Boston Pops style, with classical favorites, especially ones that are up-tempo in nature. I was not that familiar with The Requiem by Mozart and was hoping for a more up-tempo and "lively"Mozart arrangement. I remain supportive of the Greensboro Symphony and the variety of music it brings to our area.

  • Fine performance

by AuntieBellum on 5/20/25Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts - GreensboroRating: 5 out of 5

The music was performed beautifully and strongly. There were a few times when the chorus sang so strongly that I could not hear the orchestra. Another person, a musician, said the opposite: there were times when the orchestra drowned out the chorus. All in all, magnificnt music vey well presented.

  • Great Concert

by Tracy on 2/4/25Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts - GreensboroRating: 5 out of 5

First time seeing new director, Christopher Dragon conduct the full orchestra. He is an exhuberant conductor, who captivates the audience as well as the musicians he’s conducting. The selection of works for the evening was uplifting and the guest violinist was a joy.

This is a well developed ensemble, with a dynamic conductor who takes the time to introduce the works. The violin soloist was particularly powerful, as well as the members of the orchestra.

The musicians are very good at what they do as well as the conductor. I was very pleased and will go again. Only thing I noticed is towards the end everyone got a little sleepy.
