About

Green Day redefined punk rock in a post-grunge world. Rising from the Bay Area punk scene in 1987, the band released several EPs before coalescing into their long-standing lineup of vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool. The trio shared the independent album Kerplunk in 1991 before releasing their major label debut Dookie in 1994. Behind singles like “Longview,” “Basket Case” and “When I Come Around,” which each topped the Alternative Airplay chart, Dookie reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Dookie earned Green Day three Grammy nominations, including a win for Best Alternative Music Performance, and the album continues to stand as the band’s best-selling release with over 20 million copies sold worldwide. Green Day followed with 1995’s Insomniac and 1997’s Nimrod, with the latter boasting the band’s biggest creative shift with the rare acoustic single, “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).” After 2000’s Warning, Green Day spent the next few years developing their first of several ambitious projects, the 2004 punk rock opera American Idiot. The album became Green Day’s first to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and it logged two Top 10 singles with “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and “Wake Me Up When September Ends.” American Idiot garnered seven Grammy nominations and won two, including Best Rock Album. The band won the Best Rock Album Grammy again with 2009’s concept album 21st Century Breakdown. A stage adaptation of American Idiot debuted on Broadway in 2010 and won two Tony Awards and a Grammy for the cast recording. Furthermore, Green Day were first-ballot inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.

  • Best show

by Whoody on 6/27/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Well for starters the music, so iconic, not matter the age everyone can have a great time, but the show, the show I have been to plenty of concerts, rock, punk, pop, rap, hip hop, metal and Green Day by far was the most engaging, from the moment they take the stage to the second they leave it’s not a doll moment. From Billie singing and guitar skills to Tre with his charisma and let’s not forget Mike being a badass, Jason also kill in it on the guitar, the pirotecnia, confetti, lights, now inflatables and balloons and the moments they engage out of performance with the fans! Green Day is a multi generation band that keeps surprising and delivering show after show

  • Green Day at So Fi Stadium

by Roni on 6/22/25Rating: 5 out of 5

I absolutely love Green Day. I was so excited to finally see Smashing Pumpkins on this tour however it was impossible to hear and understand all three bands. So Fi Stadium is not the place to see concerts. It was incredibly hard to hear, the sound system absolutely horrible beautiful venue but not a place for concerts.

  • Love this Band

by Donald WIlliams on 1/14/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Everyone has to bring their children to this show. Best experience I've ever had with my family. Seats also aren't so expensive.

  • Long but worth it

by Doc on 12/18/24Target Field - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

5.5 - 6 hour show, 4 bands - which was a surprise as it was only advertised as Green Day with The Smashing Pumpkins - which wouldn't have negatively impacted my decision to purchase tickets. In fact it might have made a positive influence. All the bands put on good shows, I hadn't heard of either the Linda, Lindas or Rancid but I enjoyed their sets. I'm passing familiar with the Smashing Pumpkins, but really we (me and my kids who are the BIG Green Day fans) were there for Green Day and they didn't disappoint. I would see them again somewhere.

  • Green Day at Wrigley Field

by RJakubowicz on 12/4/24Rating: 5 out of 5

Phenomenal show in Chicago. Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins, and Rancid were all amazing. Green Day's set alone lasted two and half hours, and included Dookie and American Idiot in their entirety. Easily one of the best concerts I have been to.

  • The Best Show I’ve ever seen

by Bradley Gillis on 12/3/24Rating: 5 out of 5

Ive had my fair share of concerts but the sheer energy that Green Day has left me mind blown. They sounded absolutely amazing and I would strongly recommend seeing them if you get the chance.

  • Completely blown away!

by Skippy on 11/29/24Petco Park - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Best live band ever! Just WOW! Had me wishing it wasn't the last night of the tour. I wanted to go again... Somehow I had never listened to all of American Idiot, the album, before. I blame being overwhelmed with young children back in 1994... Better late than never. Hearing the entire album live was a Revelation! And all of Dookie! And Saviors - fantastic too! WHAT A SHOW! Truly born to be Rock Stars! If Billy Joe says do something, sing something - you cant help but do it and have so much freaking fun doing it!! Was always a fan, but - new respect - now I am a Super Fan. Billy Joe is the best song-writer on the planet. And when I went home to Calgary and told a friend how fantastic the concert was, she told me of how her parents were at a bar in a small town in Mexico and her mother got to chatting with some nice boys from The States about music. (Her family is from Nova Scotia). They were in a band. She hadn't heard of them but they told her that her kids would know who they were... Green Day... Very jealous children! Best songwriting, ENERGY, guitar riffs, stupendous drumming. I have been catching up ever since, and I COMPLETELY LOVE GREEN DAY! They thanked the crowd for making it possible to just do what they love. You are so very welcome! And thanks back for the best concert ever and the beautiful punk rock poetry over pounding bass and drum lines. Count me awestruck! Think I may eed to get to Coachella this April... South Africa and Australia too far away...
