The concert got off on the wrong foot when it started more than one hour after the originally scheduled time of 9:30. People had to wait on line outside to get in. While I had checked the website and was aware of the late start, if I had known prior to buying my ticket, I would have passed. Apparently a rap concert had been scheduled in the afternoon. The people who worked at the venue were tired and grouchy, almost abusive.
As far as the music, the bass player, Reed Mathis, had an enhanced role. He plays lead bass a lot of the time which was interesting but took some getting used to. I could not however get used to the fact that he chewed gum throughout, even when he sang. Jeff Chimenti, the keyboardist, played a very minor role, which was disappointing as he can be a tremendous presence. A lot of new or esoteric material was played during the first set.
