  • Gin Blossoms at BB King

by elgieem on 8/2/09B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Great venue! Band was as awesome as ever. So nice to see my favorites at venues that are intimate enough to really feel a part of the event!

  • Gin Blossoms played a SHORT show...

by DogzRMe on 8/1/09Harrah's Chester Casino & Racetrack - ChesterRating: 3 out of 5

As usual, the guys were energetic, happy, interactive, and a lot of fun. Robin's voice was beautiful. BUT the show lasted just over an hour. They were playing a casino - a 24-hour venue - and had a shortened set. There were two songs on the set list that didn't make it into the show. If these guys ever play this venue again, they either need to start earlier or be allowed to play later!

The show was great, they got everyone up and stayed up......dancing and singing... there was no need for chairs... I can't wait to get their new cd.....

  • Somewhat disappointing

by analogthebanddotcom on 8/1/09Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 3 out of 5

Being a musician myself, The Gin Blossoms influenced much of my music. They've written very hook laden music anchored by a great guitar sound and distinct vocals by Robin Wilson. That being said, I was a little disappointed in their performance Thursday night. Maybe they were tired because they were in the middle of a grueling tour, I don't know. They were very sloppy and the overall sound was sub-par. The biggest let down in my eyes was closing the show ( a very short show) with two cover tunes. A band of this caliber should never do that. (Collective Soul also usually plays a cover tune or two during their set and I don't understand why?) I saw The Church a few weeks ago at Showcase Live as well and quite frankly, they made the Gin Blossoms look like amateurs. I am glad however, that I finally had a chance to see such a personally influential band. Keep rocking guys!!

  • Gin Blossoms were awesome!!

It was a very intimate setting. Gin Blossoms made it even more intimate and enjoyable. Would definitely consider going to more concerts at this venue.

  • Gin Blossoms Rocked Harrah's

by KathyFN on 8/1/09Harrah's Chester Casino & Racetrack - ChesterRating: 5 out of 5

The Gin Blossoms were amazing at Harrah's Racetrack and Casino. The concert began with their lead singer, Robin Wilson, calling everyone down to stand in front of the stage to listen. This was great because I had a limited view with side seats. I quickly ran up front and was right against the stage. The band played old tunes as well as new. They were very energetic and loved to interact with the crowd. Robin Wilson passed his tamborine to many audience members to play along with the songs. He high-fived them afterward with a very audible, "well done" to the participants. He also sang into audience members' cell phones to unknown receipients. I am sure the people on the other end of the phone were very happy. We had a fun, high energy, experience that lifted my spirits immensely. After the concert, Robin came out to sign autographs, take pictures and answer questions with fans. It is very apparent that Robin cares deeply about his fans and appears to enjoy interacting with them. It was a great night. Kudos, Gin Blossoms!

  • Gin Blossoms & Showcase Live make a good combo!!

    by MarkV2000 on 7/31/09Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 4 out of 5

The opening act, Kristin Diable, from New Orleans impressed my wife and I with her great, soulful voice. She was accompanied only by her minimalistic rhythm on her electric guitar. She was good, but a band backing her up would have definitely improved the performance. The Gin Blossoms were fantastic and played all of their big hits as well as a nice selection of their non-hits. I have to admit that I'm a big fan and know every word to every song that they've released, but my wife really enjoyed them too although she didn't know every song. She was surprised at how many songs she did know and like though. The sound was a bit off at times, specifically the guitar solos sometimes were a bit low in the mix and the drums seemed a bit too loud throughout the set, but overall the venue has good sound from just about any area. The musicianship and showmanship of the members of the Gin Blossoms was great, as expected. Robin serenaded many extra spectators via the cell phones of members of the audience, and they treated us all to a really nice rendition of the Elton John classic, "Rocket Man". The sound system and layout of the Showcase Live venue was great. The staff was very polite and helpful, though the air conditioning was making it really cold where we were originally seated while eating. The food was expensive but mediocre. I guess the fact that the tickets to the show were cheap kinda even it out for me, so I can't really complain. We got up after eating and moved around, finding that most of the rest of the venue was at a bearable temperature. Summing up, the Gin Blossoms were fantastic and the Showcase Live venue is a nice place to see a band, especially if you bring a jacket and eat before you arrive.

  • Great Venue

Great band, great venue. The sound was spot on. Patriots Place is a terrific place to see a live act.

  • great show!!

by hudge on 7/31/09Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 4 out of 5

Band is great form and new drummer is settling in just fine. Jessie and Joe were in rare form, jamming together on several songs including an extended surf/psycho jam (was that the Munster's theme I heard in there!!). Great songs, can't wait for the new release!!

  • Gin Blossoms put on great show!

by wasgreat on 7/31/09Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 5 out of 5

First of all the venu at Showcase Live at Patriot Place in Foxboro, MA was outstanding. There wasn't a bad spot in the crowd and the sound system is amazing and the food superb! The band didn't disappoint, they were crowd friendly and interacted well. Many people got high fives, cell phones sung into, or got to play the tamborine. They sounded just like the CD,... better because it was live! Jesse rocked on guitar! Would definitely go again!

  • Gin Blossoms Great!

    by GB12345 on 7/31/09Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 5 out of 5

From the opening note of Follow you down to the crashing finish of Hey Jealousy these guys were on top of their game! They came back for a two song encore, honestly I hoped they were going to play a lot longer.

  • Another great show!

by kkmb on 7/31/09Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 5 out of 5

I saw Gin Blossoms this year and last year, and I thoroughly enjoyed both shows! Lead singer Robin Wilson has a beautiful voice that sounds great live, and he interacts with the audience in a fun way. They play all their big hits, and I was right at the edge of the stage both times. I had a lot of fun!

  • Gin Blossoms was awsome!!

Great band in a great venue. You could get up close and at the end we even got to say hi to the guitarist after out front. Great Show!

  • Great Show!

by NEGinFan on 7/31/09Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 4 out of 5

The Gin Blossoms put it all out there last night, playing "Found out about you", "Long Time Gone", Until I Fall Away", "Allison Road" and finishing up their set with "Hey Jealousy". Great energy level in the room during the performance - even outside the room - as Robin Wilson serenaded various folks through audience member cell phones that he held up to the mike. The band was tight, in-sync, and had some great guitar interplay between Jesse Valenzuela and the other band members.

  • Gin Blossoms are always a good show!

by BigWillyDIEr on 7/31/09Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 5 out of 5

Time-tested and loved by more than one generation, the Gin Blossoms play their numerous big hits and more often than not, a cover of notable favorite Classic Rock tunes. Good music, and band that loves to interact with their fans, the Gin Blossoms always put on a good show!

  • Great Gin Blossoms Show

    by th001 on 7/31/09Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 4 out of 5

The Gin Blossoms show was very enjoyable. They played a great many songs from their original debut album. The band had plenty of energy. Lead Singer Robin was in the crowd many, many times. Some of the crowd picked up on that energy and the area in front of the band was rocking. The band was tight although they seemed a little tired. Robin has still maintained his signature vocals. The sound quality in Foxboro is fantastic. I wasn't impressed by what I heard from the new album. The songs lack the emotional intensity of their debut album. I feel that the venue being in surburbia attracted more of a suburban crowd. The outer fringes of the crowd were very subdued. Too bad for them. Worth seeing Christine Varno opened the set.

  • showcase live is awesome

Showcase live is by far the best venue to see a show...practically on the stage. No problem parking..Gin Blossoms rocked.

  • Fun!

As always, Gin Blossoms played their hits and gave a great show. Showcase is an intimate forum and is ideal for dining/drinking/listening to music. I hope they return year after year as I love the Gin Blossoms.

  • Gin Blossoms were much better in the past.

    by Nova1313 on 7/26/09Penn's Peak - Jim ThorpeRating: 2 out of 5

I've seen the Gin Blossoms once before so I knew they were very good live. The sound levels at this show were all off. The second guitarist was playing way over the rest of the band. The stage tech got it right for about 2 of the songs and then after what looked like an argument with the basses and lead guitarist he turned his level back way up. The bassists levels were up so high they were being cut off and everything he played for many songs sounded much like a farting sound. It actually made the show painful to listen to.. I debated leaving early and much of the crowd seemed to after they heard their favorite songs. They encored with two songs that were not their own... bands shouldn't do that in my opinion. I'm here to see them play their songs for encore. Play them awesome and save your best for last...
