Obviously a not original lead guitarist was so wasted or just unprofessional he couldn’t play the chords, find the key or keep time. Every time he attempted to play it ruined every element of the music. I was embarrassed for them
If you loved their debut album (and why wouldn't you--it was excellent), you will really dig this show. The vocals are as solid, and the band as is tight, as they were 25 years ago. They brought a charming humility and engaging energy to the show and had people up out of their seats and dancing by the end. Best $40 concert ever!
The show was great, the band was on point. The venue could use an update; merch was upstairs and only one exit was available.
The band performed very well . There music and singing is very clear . The fan interaction on some songs were fun if you havent seen the Gin Blossoms live , you should they're a very good band live .
Fantastic show in a great venue. When they started playing the New Miserable Experience Album from start to end, everyone was singing the songs. I saw them in 1994 opening for R.E.M. at the Woodlands Amphitheater. I brought my NME CD and had the guitarist sign it.
Got the meet and greet and we’ll worth it!!! Gin blooms sounded great and love the Neptune the staff are pros!!! Great night
The Gin Blossoms sounded amazing! One of the few singers that has kept his voice sounding after so many years! Robin is as great of a frontman as he is a singer. Loved hearing the whole album "New Miserable Experience" beginning to end. Fantastic night!
Gin Blossoms sounded like time had reversed and we were listening to mammoth Pioneer Speakers in a large hall during the 90's. No age to the voice, to their signature sound. Only problem: Not enough bartenders upstairs. The line consumed 10-15 minutes each time I wanted a refill. Come on, Varsity, give a bartender a job! If Gin Blossoms is coming to your arena, find a way to say, "yes."
Great show at the Varsity. Only downfall was lack of parking!
Bands were both great! Lines to get drinks from the only bar were long. Not enough areas to sit. I miss the old Varsity, with some seated tables and different levels so short people could see!
Gin blossoms good but the black moods opening act never heard were amazing and should of been front liner!!!
I Loved the Varsity Theater. The sound was Amazing. And Gin Blossoms did not Disappoint! I Loved their music. It was A Fantastic Concert ❤
Sounded so great! I loved seeing Gin Blossoms, finally, for the first time! The sound was terrific except there was one riff I was waiting for that was not nearly loud enough. I had a great time, though!
Being a fan of Gin Blossoms for so long, I'm so happy to see they still kill it! The started promptly and played several hits and a couple new songs to give us a taste of both. For the next 45 minutes or so they played the album New Miserable Experience in its entirety. They ended by playing a few songs and returning for a fabulous encore of Follow You Down (one of my favorites and a staple for the band's success). The crowd was easy and finding our way eventually to the front came with much ease. Robin (the singer) hopped off stage immediately to greet and sign some things for the front row. Round of applause for a band who exemplifies a beautiful spirit and gives their fans what they want. Bravo.
The opening band, a local act, was horrible. They should never have been on the stage. The Gin Blossoms were great. Just a hair too loud for the Uptown, but still a great show.
The Gin Blossoms is such a talented band! From the first song to the last I was blown away by how good they still are! I had such a fun time at this concert!
Surprised the show wasn't sold out, because the Gin Blossoms were awesome! And as always, the Napa Uptown venue is worth the drive. Whatever they do, keep it up!
After having a lame opening act play for over an hour, the Gin Blossoms finally showed up, set up and played but it never felt like they really wanted to be there. The music was cranked way too loud, maybe to mask the slightly weak lead vocals. I mean these guys are fairly old so that makes sense. They eventually played all their hits, which is what the audience wanted to hear, but there was a feeling they’d rather be somewhere else. Since they were playing a county fair the next night, you’d think they would have been happier to have an audience that was actually there to see them on purpose. I saw them about 5 years ago as the headliner with Sugar Ray, Smashmouth and Vertical Horizon and they were outperformed by, well, pretty much all the other bands. I’ll always love their recorded music but I would not make the effort to see them perform live again.
The Gin Blossoms were amazing. They played for 2 hours straight. The audience was up and dancing for most of the show.
