This event was so much fun! Such a diverse age group came together and danced the night away. The venue was awesome. The DJ did a great job as well keeping the energy up! I’d do this again in a heartbeat!
I guess I was spoiled from having a DJ friend but this probably was one of the worst “DISCO” sets I’ve heard. And I get it, it was to appeal to the majority but the disco was very commercial, things you hear at weddings. There are so many more artists from that era that could have really made this an awesome party.

This was an absolute blast! I'd go again for sure!! My friends and I all dressed up which made it even more fun
Very fun - a little heavy on the ABBA - needed most disco songs!
it was an awesome time, i highly recommend to anyone who loves abba or just music from the 70s!
My girls and I go to disco a few times a year when it’s in town and we have the best time. I always feel safe and welcome by staff and other attendees
Another great night at Gimme Gimme Disco! The DJ rocked the night. She invited people onto the main stage to allow them to strut their stuff. I was wearing Penny Loafers and I didn't want to wear myself out. I was VERY TEMPTED to jump on the stage. My highlight of the night was this DJ wasn't afraid to play a unknown ABBA song called If It Wasn't for the Nights which is from their 1979 Voulez Vous album. I had a blast dancing all night long. She started immediately too. It started out slow in the audience, but within 10 minutes before she started it was beyond packed in that venue! I still had a great time. I'm driving up to Ventura, California on Friday too to hear this event again! I got my dance sneakers by Sansha ready too! I'm wearing my ABBA band t-shirt tomorrow! (02/09/2024). See you on the dance floor. If you don't like ABBA, you may not enjoy this event.
Overall the vibes were super cute and fun. I had a few issues though which partially were my own fault. I wasn’t a fan of the event being 18+ I wished it was just 21+. The drinks at the venue were EXTREMELY expensive and not strong at all. Maybe I’m spoiled because I go to gay bars mostly where the drinks are rubbing alcohol…anyways I digress. It was almost $50 for two drinks that tasted like mostly mixer and I got a double. The music was fun however it felt like there was more 60/70s music then there was ABBA. It was also truly an bummer that the event ended at 12 and not 2am like any other bar or club. Also not to be this person but to have an event called “gimme gimme disco” but have no disco ball is a bold choice. Anyways it was cute but you can find somewhere that does this for free with a more lit crowd ;)
I was expecting more 70s disco music. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love 80s; but this is Gimme Gimme Disco, so play more 70s. There were so many other 70s disco songs that were missed. Also, making this event 18+ is a bad idea. Those that were between 18-20 were absolutely obnoxious. I went to another event like this in Venice when it was 21+, and that was a fantastic event.
This was our first time as a family, big age gap too!. We had a great time. We chose not to stay home and why not get out and try something new. Hope you come back soon to Costa Mesa, CA.
I went to another show last month and thought it would be the same was excited to bring a new friend after hyping the show. Was so sad that it wasn’t the same .. first of all the DJ was about an hour late to start. Then the sound was bad . I was hoping it would be the same show I had seen before . It’s ok my gf was sweet and we still had some fun.
I believe there were 4 or 5 ABBA songs in 2+ hours. The people “performing” on stage were young kids in little black dresses who were skipping back and forth laughing with each other. Maybe I’m too old for this because that was as far from ABBA and that era of music and entertainment style as can be. Would not pay for this again.
Brooklyn Bowl had a great setup for the disco, great drinks, and a great upstairs vibe. Unfortunately, the music and the DJ (hardly a good term… emcee?) didn’t match the vibes…songs went on well past the crowd’s enthusiasm for them, transitions between songs were poor, there was no balance of popular sing-alongs with deeper cuts, and the Instagram request system was pathetic at best. I left disappointed in the night, but hey - at least the crowd was dressed to the nines.
Music was great and the crowd was lit. An experience like no other.
The actual music was good. The place was pretty. I was alone (there for the disco) and found parking 15 min walk, $20 (I’m not from the area so had to park) but there was some street parking closer. Coat check only $5. But one vodka red bull was $17. And it wasn’t strong. Dance floor was small and the crowd was dead. Be prepared for our performing artist to start stripping and dancing like they’re in their room alone. Would’ve been totally down for it if the crowd was unfortunately not that much that night. Excited for them to be in providence next month, hopefully my fellow Rhode Islanders love disco as much as I.
Ok if you HATE ABBA, don't waste your time with reading my review. I've read previous reviews of this event and I really have to say that I was pleased with it EXTREMELY! You're LUCKY if a dance bar/club on DISCO night plays ANY ABBA song (This includes Dancing Queen). I counted the songs for this event and there was a LOT of ABBA played throughout the night. The event is called Gimme Gimme Disco (pun on Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight). The majority of the songs were disco related. There were a FEW slow ABBA songs mixed in the night. There are people dressed in 1970's disco attire who attend. The show I went to was JAM-PACKED! Be prepared, some venues allow 18+ for this event. Bring out your best dance shoes and dance the night away. I'm going again in two weeks!
It was a wonderful time! Nothing beats spending the night under a disco ball listening to Abba with friends. Would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to try something new.
Reddit reviews are right. Leaving the whole song and introducing them makes the whole experience dull. Just staid because of how much we had paid and since it was NYE. Don't recommend it.
