  • Lack of talent

by Unimpressed on 4/5/22Mercury Ballroom - LouisvilleRating: 1 out of 5

After seeing videos on tik tok for this event in other cities m, my girlfriends and I were stocked for a killer DJ dancing set. We spent time getting the perfect disco outfits and paid for the $24 tickets. Man, we’re we let down by the lack of ambience and talent. We got a folding table with a blank table linen and a laptop. The DJ basically hit play on a Abba playlist….literally—-the songs didn’t even transistor together, just a regular fade out slow no music then fade into new song. The video that was playing didn’t synch up. The DJ was on his phone at times. At times we tried to get the crowd going in his cheap costume store sequin suite. My girlfriends and I made the most of it and had a good time with each other, but this whole DJ set and experience was totally lacking, especially for the price. It could be soooo much more. Absolutely would not recommend.

  • Not what expected

by Megan on 3/29/22Roxian Theatre - PittsburghRating: 2 out of 5

When you hear “gimme gimme disco” an Abba inspired dance party that will play 70’s music you think that’s what it would be. But actually it was the people in the sound booth clicking songs on Spotify and awful remixes of 70s songs intermixed with overall middle school dance party vibes. This was an 18+ night so maybe 21+ would be better but still wouldn’t recommend.

  • Fun, but DJ could have been better

by Corinne on 3/29/22Roxian Theatre - PittsburghRating: 3 out of 5

I had been to a Gimme Gimme disco before at the Thunderbird music hall last September. It was great! My friends and I, huge Abba fans, had an absolute blast and were looking forward to going again. The DJ that night was a particular highlight. We could tell he loved this music as much as we did. This time it was at the Roxian, which I had never been to before. The venue was really nice and definitely better suited to the larger crowd. We were really looking forward to another long night of dancing and screaming our faces off. However, the DJ was just not good. He was super stiff, didn't really know how to interact with the crowd and played a grand total of 6 Abba songs over the course of 3 hours. It got so bad that half of the audience was holding up their phones, trying to request some sort of Abba music, or anything other than nondescript disco-EDM beats, but he just wouldn't listen. My friends and I decided to leave early (~11:30 despite the show going until 1:00). A friend of mine who stayed said they shut it down about 15 minutes later (more than an hour before it was supposed to end). I had some fun, but I can't say it was worth all the money and the excitement we had leading up to it.

  • So fun, but no thanks to the DJ

by Caroline on 3/27/22Roxian Theatre - PittsburghRating: 4 out of 5

My family & friends and I had an absolute blast of a night singing and dancing and sweating but it was only because we were choosing to ignore all of the DJs annoyances. I don’t think I would have been able to tell you before this event any important things that a DJ does, but this guy made zero smooth transitions, he would cut songs so it was only one line playing for 4 min straight, he slammed you with all of the popular songs all at once in the beginning instead of spreading them out—which in the grand scheme of things are truly minor, but still kind of annoying. Like I said, we ended up having a blast :)

  • Pretty bad

by Sam on 3/27/22Roxian Theatre - PittsburghRating: 2 out of 5

What kind of ABBA disco doesn’t play Waterloo? And plays Gimme Gimme Gimme before anyone gets there? I expected the event to at least go to 1 but it ended before midnight. Very bad experience overall.

  • Good*

by Gracie on 3/17/22Big Night Live - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

The only negative thing that I have to say about this event was that it was massively overbooked. There were far too many people in the venue than could fit comfortably, and for a dancing event I felt that that detracted from the overall vibe. Otherwise, the energy, music, and experience was one I would definitely go for again.

  • Fun Night

by Bella421 on 3/1/22House of Blues San Diego - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

Everything was well organized and people were friendly. Music was amazing. I just didn't get why there was no dancing, but everyone standing in front of the stage? I ended up getting a table so that I had a place to dance as the floor was packed. We loved seeing so many people enjoying 80's Disco. I didn't know about the Mamma Mia following. What a bunch of fun and animated people. Would go again!

The event wasn't disco The dj didn't know a lot of music and kept playing Bruno mars, journey and even house music and very little disco He had a request section , clearly because he has no knowledge on disco. I could have djd way better than him, but at least I now know to never go back to this event. Don't waste your money on this

  • Not Abba

    by Jerry on 3/1/22Saint Andrew's Hall - DetroitRating: 3 out of 5

We originally thought we were to see a tribute band. I found it odd there were no musical instruments or microphones on stage when the DJ was playing. We thought he was the opening act.

  • Just a 70s Playlist

by No thanks on 3/1/229:30 CLUB - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

I feel like I could have done this myself at home. The DJ was simply playing a playlist and none of the songs had any special elements to them that you expect to hear in a club. Drinks are tiny and overpriced and the DJ kept killing the mood by not including transitions between songs.

  • Great music, but the playlist overall could’ve been better.

by Lex on 3/1/229:30 CLUB - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

Great music overall, but the playlist could’ve been a bit better. There was a group of really obnoxious girls next to us that kept shoving us. When we got the 9:30 security they walked the girls out but 5 minutes later they were back. It was disappointing to see that 9:30 didn’t handle the situation better. If you walk someone out, they should stay out.

  • Terrible DJ

by AE on 2/28/22Summit - DenverRating: 1 out of 5

Terrible music. Played a mix of everything, wasn't just disco/70s night. NOT worth the money

  • Gimme Gimme MORE

Awesome venue and even better music. Good vibes from everyone there.

  • Best dance night ever!

  • Gimme Gimme Not as Advertised

by AndyK on 2/7/22The Masquerade - Hell - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

Leaving this review for a group. Venue was good— bartenders great. The only concern was the DJ. The music wasn’t all or even mostly disco, and very little abba. Just be honest in the promos!

  • AMAING!!

by Kaitlyn on 1/18/22Roxian Theatre - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

I had the best time in a very long time!! The venue was beautiful, staff was friendly and the environment was upbeat and fun! I hope they bring this back to Pittsburgh soon!!!!

  • Disappointment Abounded

by Ron on 1/18/22Bogart's - CincinnatiRating: 2 out of 5

Stood in cold for 30 minutes in a line that barely moved. The line could easily have been absorbed inside the building. One small can of pinot grigio cost $16 which was way overpriced. If you wanted to sit at a table, there was a fee of $20 per stool.. This was billed as "VIP Seating." Rip-off!!! The ads seemed to suggest an ABBA tribute. Actual playlist was a disappointing mix from a variety of other artists/groups

  • Bad Music

by Em on 1/17/22Big Night Live - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

Horrible DJ. If you’re going to market this off ABBA - play ABBA.

  • Woof

by Sarah Sarah on 1/17/22Big Night Live - BostonRating: 2 out of 5

Only 1 bar open???? The Dj was pretty terrible causing no one to really be dancing. It’s too bad because I love this venue and the staff are really nice

  • Best Night Ever

by Hayley on 1/12/229:30 CLUB - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

If you love disco, you’re going to love this. So groovy!! Be warned: it’s inspired by Abba, which means they’ll play some Abba, but other disco music as well. It was so much fun and I cannot wait to go again!
