The venue was terrific, the service was excellent and the energy filled the room. We truly had a great time.
This was my 10th disco. Alex is a terrible DJ and this was objectively the worst I’ve been to. Could not read the crowd, he was too busy trying to crowd surf for his instagram story to make it an actual enjoyable experience for any of us in attendance. If the crowd stops being hype, it’s time to switch the song. DJ 101.
Had so much fun! The only reason I won’t give five stars is that there was crowding and some rude people who didn’t understand how to just be kind! Tons of security and a very safe and fun environment!!!
I’ve been to Gimme Gimme Disco before and they totally killed it that time. But the most recent experience was more of an 80s dance party, they only played like 4 ABBA songs the entire night which was definitely a let down. Still a fun experience but definitely worth noting.
Went with my boyfriend and friends and we had a lot of fun. We really liked how parking was easy, accessible and free with our tickets! DJ replayed a few songs but overall a fun experience
The security was unnecessarily aggressive with my my friends and me. They used force to push us out the door before politely asking us to leave.
I’ve been to this event in San Diego twice now, once at HoB in 2022 and now at Observatory in 2023. I liked that you’ve started to allow people to dance on stage in groups, that seemed to work seemlessly. The DJ is a fun hype-man and almost everyone dressed up which adds to the festiveness. Something I liked at HoB that didn’t happen at observatory was that the dance floor music was piped to the side bar which allowed you to take a break from the big crowd but still enjoy the event. Also, there were balloons at Observatory which obviously eventually end up getting popped which definitely set-off my anxiety, so I’d prefer there not being balloons. Overall, a fun night at a good price. Excited for more!
First, nowhere did it say the DJ wouldn’t be going on until 10. The tickets, instagram, everything said it would start at 9. We got there around 9:15 not wanting to wait in a line and people were just awkwardly standing in groups around the place. The pre-dj played 2000s music and we finally asked a bartender who said the dj wouldn’t even go on until 10. That would’ve been fine, we just wished it said that somewhere because we were not the only ones who showed up thinking the DJ would be on at 9 and we didn’t wanna miss any opening songs. So many people were there just waiting around. Once the DJ got there, it was just okay. He did not cut any songs, he basically just hit play and let them go all the way through. Not the greatest DJ, you could clearly see as each song dragged to the very end how everyone’s energy would go down. We LOVE Abba, but at a club night when you’re dancing, you want shorter songs that blend together. We only stayed till like 11. Overall, a great idea because we love the music and disco theme, but poorly executed.
It was fun overall, but the DJ wasn’t actually DJing or performing. He has his Spotify playlist and would play songs start to finish (complete with the fade out). He would lose the crowds energy regularly.
Very disappointed this is not disco music-where is the funk and soul. DJ is not it, and no mix of songs. My playlist at home was better.
Going into this event, I have already been to another gimme gimme disco night at Bogarts and had a great time. The DJ at this specific event seemed to have very little to no experience as a DJ and had very little knowledge of the music he was playing. He would play the entire song and talk between the “transition” to make it seem like there was a transition. He also would randomly say things throughout the song that didn’t really make sense. Over all, me and my friend had to leave after an hour and a half because the show was so cringy.
I went for the first time in January and i absolutely loved it, they played strictly 70s and so many memorable songs from the decade. But the ambassador the last two times had also mixed in songs from 90's and even current pop. My party didn't like this, we came for 70s disco not modern pop!
Great time in Vegas. (Saturday, April 15). Good crowd. Lots of energy. The only negative that I heard from numerous people was that the DJ / music did not start until 10. I mean it's a DJ, not a band. And the pre-event music until the DJ started was not Abba or Disco. Also, shortly after midnight the music went away from disco / 70's. I can't say much after 12:30ish because I left after the music changed. This was my 2nd time attending. First was in Tempe, AZ. (Plan on going to Tempe again in May). I will attend more. Please make sure that you post when you are doing Vegas again. Please continue to have these disco dance parties. Thank you.
Audio quality was low with lots of treble and over modulation mixed with sound level needlessly high collided for a really bad experience plus lots of non disco cuts?! Rialto needs to do a better job vetting events. This one should never have happened.
Paid $40 to listen to a guy in a low-effort Freddie Mercury costume play a Spotify playlist and say "what's up DC" in the silence between songs. No mixes or blending. Felt like I was at a wedding, complete with the YMCA and "We Are Family." It wasn't even all 70s songs?
Always love when this show comes to town! Always a great time.
Gimmie Gimmie Disco was fun. A little bummed that there wasn't a disco ball at the disco. The DJ played fun music but cut some of the best song short. I might go again to give it a 2nd try.
Amazing energy, great venue. Drinks were meh for the price and the dj… I’m just glad he had great songs to work with
Barely any disco played. Felt like being at a wedding in 70s fits.
