    Amazing

by JackPA on 3/15/10Lisner Auditorium - Washington

This man is simply amazing. What a talent. My wife and I considered it an honor to attend this performance. We made a six hour drive from Pittsburgh and it was worth the trip.

Loved the legendary Gil. He is older, but his music is timeless. I enjoyed very much.

    Gilberto Gil couldn't sing

by Kikinha on 3/15/10Lisner Auditorium - Washington

The show was dreadful, He was pitch in every single song but the first one, he really couln't sing. Maybe he was sick but it was very hard to seat for 2 hours in a show where he was the only one singing. His son's guitar solo was very good, in fact, if Gil had just played the guitar it would have been a better show. He sang five songs that were a crowd pleasers but that was it . Many peole in the audience left after the first hour, probably giving up hopes of the show getting better . His show last year was good and he had a band making it very exciting. In the 70's Gil, together with Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa , Maria Bethania and other artists, was part of the intelectual elite in Brazil singing protest songs against the military government. I believe many brazilians like myself went to the show because of the memory of the 70"s Gil and also to support their fellow countryman. Unfortunately, I will never recuperate this two hours of my life.

    Gilberto was glorious!

by CaroHi on 3/14/10Lisner Auditorium - Washington

He is such a great icon of Brazilian music. He sang for 1hr and 30min non-stop. I would highly recommend his future performances as well as Lisner Auditorium at GW.

    Light, Airy, Deep and Haunting

by NanaJay on 3/14/10Lisner Auditorium - Washington

Gilberto played this "simple concert" with deep feeling, light heartedness and a haunting spirit, particularly when he sang about death. His commentary in between songs was spoken in his native Portuguese, English and in one instance, French. He paid homage to his native Bahia and Africa, the root of it all. I found myself speaking to strangers sitting next to me, one who had lived in Brazil, and the other, Puerto Rican who had visited Bahia. The lounge of the Lisner auditorium felt like I was in transit at an Airport in any city in the world. I finally got to shake Mr. Gil's hand at the end of the concert. I left feeling fulfilled, and yearning to see more of this big world which Mr. Gil invited me into. It didn't matter that he did not play "Toda Menina Baiana"

    Gilberto Gil Acoustic Plus

by Skylane1 on 3/12/10Nokia Theatre Times Square - New York

Gilberto Gil is a living Brazilian legend by now. At the age of 67 he still radiates the exuberance of Brazilian music. On his current tour he foregoes his usual band with only his son playing guitar and Jacques Melanbaum playing bass. The songs he performed the entire range of his career. Even this stripped down performance with his great songs excites the audience. Even with this more basic format, the man rocks!

Gilberto Gil rocks, people behind us, not so much

by Anonymous on 3/12/10Nokia Theatre Times Square - New York

the concert was great, gilbert gil is awesome... except for the couple sitting behind us, everything was great... the woman in particular, possibly drunk, kept chatting away loudly the entire concert, and continued to do so despite warnings from everyone around them... i wish there was an usher around to notice and warn them, they kind of ruined the concert for all of us...
