About

Set in the magical world of La Belle Epoque Paris, where fashion, glamour and passion prevail, Lerner and Loewe’s celebrated musical is a romantic comedy about one young woman's journey to find her true self... and her true love.
Vanessa Hudgens (Disney's High School Musical) leads a sensational cast featuring Corey Cott (Newsies), Tony Award® winner Victoria Clark (Light in the Piazza) and Tony nominees Dee Hoty (Mamma Mia) and Howard McGillin (Phantom of the Opera) in this Tony and Academy Award®-winning musical featuring glorious songs such as “Thank Heaven for Little Girls,” “I Remember It Well” and “The Night They Invented Champagne.” Following its run at the Kennedy Center, this glistening production, with a new book by Heidi Thomas (PBS's "Call the Midwife") and direction by Eric Schaeffer (Follies), brings the city of light to Broadway.

    Gigi was phenomenal!

As with any Broadway show, I expect a good performance, but Gigi exceeded expectations! The voices of the cast blew me away and fans of the 1958 film will not be disappointed! Vanessa Hudgens is a spectacular Gigi!

    THUMBS UP!!

by MariaCorina on 4/21/15Neil Simon Theatre - New York

From the cast to the costumes to the music, everything about this show was incredible. The cast is charismatic and so very funny. We met most of them on the street after the show and they were humble and friendly, I would definitely recommend this show! Vanessa Hudgens shines! The actres who plays Alicia and the one who plays Mrs Alvarez are just absolutely incredible. If I didn't know any better I would think they were sisters in real life!!

    Gigi was fabulous!

by Bellegirl on 4/20/15Neil Simon Theatre - New York

We really enjoyed Gigi. It was very upbeat and the singing was great. The cast seemed to mesh quite well. The Neil Simon Theatre is awesome - not a bad seat in the house. The seats were very comfortable too.

    Totally Enjoyable

by MaraMaraMara on 4/20/15Neil Simon Theatre - New York

Since Gigi has always been my favorite movie, I was a little skeptical if I would like the play. To my delight, it was very enjoyable. The only criticism I have is that since it takes place in Paris, no one in the cast is French. I think that the actors, even if they were not French, should have put on a French accent. Many a good actor has put on a phony accent for a role, example Renee Zelweeger in Bridget Jones' Diary. You would never know she wasn't British. It just would have made Gigi more charming.

    cute but not memorable

by Anonymous on 4/20/15Neil Simon Theatre - New York

I have no problem with "dated " shows..I think that they are a valuable archive. So I like the story of Gigi. However, for me, this production fell flat, other than the young man who played Gaston. He was very sweet, but in no way a suave playboy. He did not seem older than Gigi herself. There was no charm in the character of Honore which I believe is essential. Vanessa Hudgens had an annoying accent, and I did not believe her "transformation" to womanhood. She is immensely talented, that id undeniable, and I think she could have been great here but fell short. Victoria Clark is always terrific.

An uplifting night of theater -Gigi

by Lizzie1741 on 4/20/15Neil Simon Theatre - New York

The costumes and set were exquisite as was the wonderful music. I thought that Gigi herself and her.grandmother Victoria Clark did a wonderful job. I was disappointed in the lack of a French accent in all the characters. Also I felt that the young man playing Gaston was too young for the part This was supposed to be an older man who has know Gigi her whole life. He was too young for the part. Honore needed the Frencne accent to make the role believable. I also did not like the rearranging of the songs. Thank Heaven for Little Girls should have been in its original place. This is a period piece and I would hope audiences would be smart enough to know this. We have enough Disney for the little kids need thatbsaidni still enjoyed the show.

    Truly Delightful!

by Treeesha on 4/18/15Neil Simon Theatre - New York

The magnificent wardrobe lent an elegant air to the talented cast of GiGi. The vocals were good, Vanessa Hudgens as GiGi and Corey Cott as Gaston sensational. Although set in Paris, I didn't detect one French accent. With great energy on the set, the musical numbers and dancing very entertaining. Having listened to the music of Maurice Chevalier many years ago, it was lovely to hear some of the old favorites.

    Gigi is a charmer!

by Mmmml on 4/18/15Neil Simon Theatre - New York

I never liked the movie GIGI with Maurice Chevalier and Hermione Gingold and didn't care for their singing voices...so I was a little apprehensive. But I didn't have to worry because. the stars in this Broadway production all had beautiful voices and great personalities. Vanessa Hudgens as Gigi was an absolute charmer and quite beautiful. Her beau, Corey Cott, was appropriately younger, extremely handsome and can really sing. Victoria Clark and Howard McGillin are also marvelous singers. I liked that this version was sanitized and that instead of grooming Gigi to be a prostitute she was groomed to be a proper lady with good manners The dancing was wonderful and the sets and costumes were simply "gorgeous". My wife and I were enchanted and I highly recommend this charming show if you want to be thoroughly entertained and leave floating on a cloud!

    So disappointed

by UnhappyinCT on 4/18/15Neil Simon Theatre - New York

Unfortunately this staging of GIGI is subpar in every way. From the pathetic semi faux French accents, the overacting by most of the cast especially Aunt Alicia(Dee Hoty) who also screeches her songs and this miscasting of Vanessa Hudgens as Gigi. Gigi was not a pouty, snarky, fresh young girl and that is what you see on stage. Corey Cott(Gaston) is good looking and has a pleasant voice but there is something missing in his portrayal of a Bon vivant. AND what happened to having the male lead sing "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" ??? Listening to two old women sing it sounding almost lecherous was such a low point in our day at the theater. The choreography was fine, nothing to exciting and one of the bigger distractions was that the butler and the dancers kept making the most ridiculous faces, again over directed, over acting. It's really sad that presently there are 2 classic shows set in Paris on Broadway and one is done tastefully and in keeping with the era it was set and the other GIGI is an amateurish production loosely based on the beautiful original. Save your money and skip this show.

    Gigi was magical!

by Anonymous on 4/18/15Neil Simon Theatre - New York

Vanessa was adorable and fantastic. The whole cast was terrific! We loved it. I took my ten year old daughter, and she said it was the best play she has ever seen. I cannot say enough. It is your old fashioned broadway musical superbly done. The singing and songs were magical!!

    Can't Recommend This One

by Oiran on 4/17/15Neil Simon - New York

Read all the bad reviews but loved the movie so I figured I'd ignored the critics & give it a go. Sorry to say I should've listened. This musical sorely lacks everything endearing about Gigi in the movie. Was mostly made with the teen boppers & tweens infatuated with High School the Musical in mind. I wish it was better.

    OK, not great

by LongtimeTheatreLover on 4/17/15Neil Simon Theatre - New York

I love the musical and was prepared to love the show, but it was not to be. Frankly, I think the lead character is mis-cast. She is ok as the immature girl, but she cannot pull off the sophisticated woman. She looks like a kid playing dress-up. Nothing like the transformation needed. The grandmother and aunt were great; the elder gentleman was very good. The Gaston character was good also. The over-enunciation by Gigi is almost laughable. She sounds like she's trying to hide a Brooklyn accent. The sets and costumes are nice. The choreography was ok, nothing special. It is entertaining but flat.

    Vanessa was great!

by scrb on 4/15/15Neil Simon Theatre - New York

Vanessa was great! The play itself was boring, had a hard time keeping awake.
