About

Set in the magical world of La Belle Epoque Paris, where fashion, glamour and passion prevail, Lerner and Loewe’s celebrated musical is a romantic comedy about one young woman's journey to find her true self... and her true love.
Vanessa Hudgens (Disney's High School Musical) leads a sensational cast featuring Corey Cott (Newsies), Tony Award® winner Victoria Clark (Light in the Piazza) and Tony nominees Dee Hoty (Mamma Mia) and Howard McGillin (Phantom of the Opera) in this Tony and Academy Award®-winning musical featuring glorious songs such as “Thank Heaven for Little Girls,” “I Remember It Well” and “The Night They Invented Champagne.” Following its run at the Kennedy Center, this glistening production, with a new book by Heidi Thomas (PBS's "Call the Midwife") and direction by Eric Schaeffer (Follies), brings the city of light to Broadway.

Great First Act, Slept through the Second Act

by KrissyGillesp on 4/11/15Neil Simon Theatre - New York

Some of the numbers were very entertaining the dialogue was witty as well. The two sisters were the best! Gigi voice was perfect, however, she just did not fully embody the Gigi character. I may have seen the movie too many times to be impartial. The second act needed at least one upbeat numbers. The opening song should have been "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" song by Lachaille ( It's not pervy) Overall it was a fun experience being there on Opening Night and we met Barbara Walters.

    nice show but poor casting

by Doughitsvegas on 4/10/15Neil Simon Theatre - New York

I love Gigi. Huggins was excellent as all the female actors. My problem was both Male leads. Neither has the right finesse. Gaston was too short and should have been French not an American. Very good sets and costumes but poor casting for the male leads. Also the end of the show should the curtain call should have had the cast doing ' the night they invented champane ' to tie all the familiar music together.

    Gigi

by Odran on 4/10/15Neil Simon Theatre - New York

An absolutely beautiful revival. Visually amazing. Lerner & Lowe's wonderful score holds up well and are all sung beautifully and the choreography very spirited and energetic I will recommend this musical very highly, particularly to those who would like to introduce their children to live theatre. The show is longer than usual (two and a half hours) but the time seemed to fly.

Good effort by actors; costumes lovely. Nice music. Story is awful - outdated and totally unrelatable. Plot has been changed to the point where nothing really makes sense. No bite. Save your money.

Without a Gigi, there is no Show!

by SingingMakesMeSmile on 4/10/15Neil Simon Theatre - New York

Wanted to love this as much as the original, but Vanessa Hudgens is wrong for the part, and the watered down version of the musical is just that. Also, the theatre is extremely uncomfortable. Needs paint and updating. No railings on steep balcony steps. Saw 4 shows in 5 days. This was the big disappointment. The man playing Honore opened with BoN Jour, pronounced just like that. Certainly not correct French. And, other French words were also mispronounced. Where is the French diction coach. This musical takes place in Paris. The Gaston is much too young. Great in Newsies, but totally wrong for this role. His young age causes the entire premise of the show to make no sense. Great performance from Victoria Clark, but she can't carry the weight of the show alone. So very disappointed. A very costly mistake for the producers and the audience members.

Vanessa Hudgens is perfect in the title role!

I am tired of the miserable theater critic reviews. This show is delightful in every possible way. If you are looking for a fun evening of fantasy, then this is it. The cast does not disappoint and the sets are stunning. The bubbles at the end are a nice touch. Loved it!
