    Awesome setting

by JeffLe on 12/8/14The Buell Theatre - Denver

Actually this is the second musical theater show that I've ever been to. I totally enjoyed this from the beginning to the end including the music. Can' t really do wrong with anything Steven King, John Mellencamp and T Bone Burnett put together, fantastc cast and band. Would see again

    Ghost Brothers of Darkland County

by RockyDenver on 12/4/14The Buell Theatre - Denver

I was not expecting too much, but went because I like Stephen King's stories and was curious. I was very impressed with the production, the music, the cast. As good as most of the musical productions that have come through Denver and stayed for two weeks.

    Great Show Highly recommended

by RckyMtnHi on 12/4/14The Buell Theatre - Denver

The story line was what you would expect from SK with some good twists and turns. I thought the production was superb. The simple and dark stage really set the tone. Having the band and the cast on stage, moving in and out of the shadows lent an other-worldly vibe to the production. The acting was first class and the great music really tied it all together. At times I really felt like I was deep in the dark Dixie woods, suspended between this world and another, with only a good old cowboy and an ominous shape to guide me through this story

    Ghost Brothers was very interesting

by Miktep7 on 12/4/14The Buell Theatre - Denver

This musical/play was very interesting. I would recommend that anyone who wants to see it should listen to all of the songs on Spotify first. Most of the singing was excellent, others like Billy Burke and Gina Gershon's was merely adequate. The acting was pretty good, though again Billy Burke had the same depressed expression for the whole play. --The "devil" character was the stand out performance in the whole show. Spending more than $200 on the set would have helped, the entire cast being on stage the whole time was a bit distracting.

    A different sort of musical

by MyaLMG on 12/4/14The Buell Theatre - Denver

We really enjoyed this since we are fans of both John Mellencamp and Stephen King. The first act was a little slow to get started and sometimes it was difficult to determine what time period we were in. Once we got used to the pacing and figured out who all the characters were, it was great! It was also awesome that we got our seats upgraded so we were down front.

    beyond excellent

by bellajolie on 12/4/14The Buell Theatre - Denver

Truly authentic SKing story and JMellencamp music. The ending was twisted and dark - just as I hoped. The music caused uninhibited toe tapping and very easy to understand. Billy Burke (I am a huge Charlie Swan fan) has a great voice - I did not know this beforehand. The entire cast had great voices and the acting was superb. The band was incredible for only 4 pieces. The stage setting was great. I hope this returns to Denver - as I would go again and suggest it to friends. I am a DCPA member and see several events, including VIP nights, each year. This event was better than some of my favorites (Mamma Mia, Jersey Boys, Book of Mormon), because it was so different that other plays. I purchased the CD.

    Great Unusual Musical

by pat1348 on 12/4/14The Buell Theatre - Denver

This musical/play collaboration has been in the works for years. I'm so glad I finally got to see it. For a long time, have listened to the fabulous CD with great songs by John Mellencamp/arranged by T Bone Burnett and sung by great and appropriate artists who gave it their all. The touring cast is amazingly talented, spot on and the story couldn't have been written by anyone other than the great Stephen King. Fantastic!!

    Dark Brothers was a drag....

by JoseyWales123 on 12/4/14The Buell Theatre - Denver

Oh my. Looked so forward to attending this play as we're fans of all three producers. Figured how could we lose with. Story by Stephen King, music by John Mellencamp and TBone Pickett, but wow had a tough time staying awake. I found myself looking at the clock on my phone in anticipation of this groaner ending. It wasn't the acting or the singing which we're all quite good, it's the storyline. I wanted someone to wake me up when the story finally arrived, but alas it never did. My clapping at the end was for the players alone for working through this snoozer. FYI. The guy that plays the caretaker can sing! What a set of pipes! That dude needs to headline a blues band.

    Ghost Brothers exceeded my expectations

by Pollycita on 12/4/14The Buell Theatre - Denver

My two sisters and I attended the play in Denver. We have very different musical tastes, so I was not sure what to expect. Within the first five minutes, we were hooked. Great music, fun and creepy story, fantastic acting and singing. Glad we had the opportunity to attend. Keep on rockin' Stephen, John and T-Bone!

Stephen King never disappoints. Spooky story, awesome music by John Mellancamp, The Ghost Brothers of Darkland County was even better than we were hoping for! With great characters and a ghost story to scare the bejesus out of you, it was eerie fun. If you're a Stephen King fan, you're gonna love this musical!

Ghost Brothers was out of this world!!

by stacym68 on 12/2/14Peabody Opera House - St. Louis

I am a huge Stephen King fan, and I love John Mellencamp's music also, so I had really high hopes for this play. I also think Billy Burke is a very good actor and musician, so that was a plus going in. Having said all of that, I was still completely BLOWN AWAY!! The entire cast was incredibly talented, the story was captivating.. I went from laughing hysterically to even wiping away a tear or two at Joe's emotional speech when he revealed the real truth of what happened to his brothers.. And speaking of that, I never knew the depths of Billy Burke's acting talent, and his voice.. wow, just wow.. words cannot describe how amazing he sounded when he sang, especially "How Many Days". And all of the songs were great, my other favorite was "Tear this Cabin Down". I've already ordered the CD from Amazon, even though it's not this cast on the CD. The ending was, in typical King fashion, satisfyingly shocking and violent.. but for some reason, even when he ends things this way, you still can't be mad at him. Can you tell I loved it? I actually live in Texas, and traveled 10 hrs to see this. If I could afford another trip, hotel stay and tickets, I'd go to one of the remaining shows this week, but alas it's not in the budget. Hopefully, it'll come around again, maybe even to Texas this time!

    Amazing Show!

by JenFromStLouis on 12/2/14Peabody Opera House - St. Louis

We had no idea what to expect with this but it was great. Billy Burke, Gina Gershon, and the rest of the cast had incredible singing voices and the acting was superb. The band was awesome. We've seen probably 75 different plays and musicals over the past 25 years (we're in our mid-30s) including stuff on Broadway and this may have been my favorite show ever. It was that good.
