    Uncut Funk ..da Bomb

by LTC1933 on 7/22/09Turning Stone Resort & Casino Showroom - Verona

This was my first time attending a show at Turning Stone.I've seen George Clinton and Parliment so many times I cannot count them. This was one of his better shows which I've seen. They were in rare form.It was awesome to see Gary Shider,Mike Hampton,Gra- dy Thomas as well as George perform some of their greatest material. The ONLY draw- back WAS them not being able to do a few of their BIGGEST hits,"One Nation Under A Groove","Not Just Knee Deep" and "Atomic Dog" because of the casino wanting every- one to leave the showroom. That was the first time I've seen anyone restrict "the FUNK". This is unheard of for it's supposed to be "uncut funk ...da bomb!!"

    Funkalicious

by Gazzby on 7/18/09Chene Park - Detroit

George Clinton and Parliment Funkadelics preformed musical magic in Detroit Friday, at Chene Park. So many talented musicians joined in for a totally funky night.. George has put together the most talented entrouage I have ever seen. I think i counted 8 guitars on the stage at one time. Each artist had the chance to shine and shine they did. I can not believe this was the first time I had the chance to see this show. I will never miss it again The GAZ

    Funkfest

    by Dusty103 on 7/18/09Chene Park - Detroit

War was great! They were the real reason I wanted to see the show and they didn't disappoint. There's only one original member, but he picked his talented new group members well - they sounded like War, from back in the day! If you're into funk this was the place to be, it was a pure funkfest! One's viewing and listening pleasures were teased before the Funkmeister came out on stage, but oh boy when he did, it was pure satisfaction until the very end! There was no dull moment - when the tempo slowed, great singers took over and handled their business! I LOVED THIS SHOW!!!

    Watered down funk

by Funkateer on 7/18/09Chene Park - Detroit

Too many new acts of friends and family mixed into the show. George should stick to all of his jams and if friends and family know the groove then they should jump in the funk. The blues was nice (and fine) but thats not the ticket I bought.

There were some good moments BUT in the end not enough. I am a big P-Funk fan and I love the old groups but a lot of the old groups is just that OLD and unable to produce like in the past so they brought in fill-in lead singers to Lead most of there songs; and some of those new fill-in singers were singing some of there personal song which the fans wasn't familiar with. This will be the my last live P-funk show that I will be attending, I will continue to enjoy the music and recommend true P-funk'er to see the shows but I was expecting more.

    That was not P FUNK

by chefsidney on 7/16/09Arie Crown Theater - Chicago

I have been a loyal funkateer since 1974 and have enjoyed everything that George and the Band have put out. i been to several concerts but this one was the worst I have ever sen. The sound went out for almost ten minutes, therewere stage hands constantly on stage trying to fix this or that, there was no horn section just some guy with a sax that wasn't even miked, George seemed somewhat lethargic and they didn;t even play the the Funkadelic theme song Maggot Brain, I left the show mad, disappointed and somewhat sad because I never thought the day would come where I would be ashamed to be a funkateer but, this show had me feeling just tht way.

    funk fest

by sophiechoice on 7/16/09Arie Crown Theater - Chicago

There was not enough original hits from the Funkadelic. That was the eye catcher for the concert and it wasn't delivered.

    George Clinton concert was terrible!!!

by ittbty on 7/16/09Arie Crown Theater - Chicago

This concert was horrible. I want a refund!!!!!!! It was unorganized-people were running around on stage the entire performance! The sound kept going out or being turned off! George Clinton came out and people began walking out because he wasn't even performing his own songs!!! I did not pay to see the opening acts upstage the headliner, nor did I spend my hard-earned money to hear that lady sing, or George Clinton's granddaughter rap (although she put on a better performance than he did!!!).

    George Clinton was HORRIBLE!!!!!!

by Cakmys on 7/16/09Arie Crown Theater - Chicago

The concert started off great! The Ohio Players, Confunction and the other had us dancing on our feet; and when the sound quality of the mics and music had issues they stopped (while keeping us entertained) and had it dealt with. However...Geroge Clinton and his granddaughter were HORRIBLE!!! I did not pay $175.00 to watch him in his new role as a talent scout! What happened to the customs and entertainment of PARLIAMENT AND THE FUNKADELICS! I felt bad when people started walking out, but after about 20 mins of bad sound or no audio sound I joined them. Little did I know that that was the end of the show anyway, because the house lights came on and they announced "THEY ARE SHUTTING US DOWN" this was a disaster. George Clinton did not complete one song nor half a song for that matter; it was a waste and I wound never attend another PARLIAMENT AND FUNKADELIC CONCERT AGAIN! I will stay an album fan because I can never let go of the FUNK!!!!

    Opening acts stole the show!

by meetone on 7/16/09Arie Crown Theater - Chicago

Dazz Band, Con Funk Shun, Ohio Players were Wonderful, Funky, Soulful and the BOMB! Slave not quite the same with out Steve Arington, but is was GREAT to hear Skip Martin with the Dazz!! George was a little anti-climatic for me. His set opened with an unknown female that sounded awful for what seemed like eternity..and just kept flicking her hair. The high was kinda lost there! The openers had the place buzzin so hi, Then "she" came on and let it all down! Then George did not come with the Hits right away. By his 3rd unknown song, the group i was with lost interest and started to go home. Overall it was a lot of fun and brought great memories!

    George Should Retire

by Nae2009 on 7/16/09Arie Crown Theater - Chicago

I enjoyed all of the other acts (Ohio Players, Dazz Band, Confunction?, Slave). However, George Clinton and Parliament were a big disappointment. The first problem was the lack of his entire musical team. There were several band members missing. Secondly, there were more other individuals singing than George. Some man named Steve sang just about all of George's parts. Then George's granddaughter sang. Then some other woman sang. I guess George was tired. The stage was completely chaotic. Do not get me wrong. I am a funkateer and I have attended many of his concerts in the past. This one was different. There were people (women) just sitting on the stage doing nothing at times. Everybody was everywhere with no coordination whats so ever. It was extremely distracting. Perhaps if the sound had been good, we may not have paid attention to the circus on stage. I won't even get started on the Sir Nose that danced like a stripper. The classic Parliament songs were performed all wrong. The temple (beats) were off and did not sound the same. I love George Clinton and Parliament but I will never attend a concert again. I will settle for the wonderful memories and my CDs.
