GEORGE BENSON IN CONCERT:

George Benson brings his gifted guitar playing and sonorous voice to every stage he graces, consistently impressing fans at his live performances with his soulful and swinging jazz sound. In concert Benson unleashes a furious flurry of melodic guitar mastery on supercharged renditions of standards like “Take Five”, “On Broadway”, and the perennial favorite “This Masquerade”. He’s also a skilled band leader, hanging back with his infectious smile as he lets the talented members of his top-notch ensemble execute moving, eloquent solos. Ticket buyers can expect a jaw-dropping display of six-string showmanship every time George Benson brings his funky and fluid fretwork on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Pittsburgh-born George Benson was a child prodigy who had already cut his first single by the age of ten. He spent the remainder of his adolescence training under organist Jack McDuff before making his debut as a bandleader with the 1964 album The New Boss Guitar of George Benson. He continued to climb the ranks of the jazz world, even appearing on the track “Paraphernalia” from Miles Davis’ 1968 album Miles in the Sky. The virtuosic Benson scored a huge crossover hit in 1976 when he pulled double-duty on vocals and guitar for “This Masquerade”, which took home the Grammy for Record of the Year. With the encouragement of Quincy Jones, Benson explored vocals during the ‘70s and ‘80s, leading to the most commercially successful period of his career. He returned to his instrumental jazz roots at the dawn of the ‘90s and toured with renowned contemporaries like Chet Atkins and Al Jarreau into the new millennium. Ten Grammys and countless breathtaking solos later, George Benson still gives audience members an unparalleled listening experience with his amazing instrumental prowess and undeniable grooves.

George Benson at Wynn Las Vegas!!!

    by Rockpix on 8/21/23

George Benson put on an incredible show!!! 80 years old and he's still got it!!! The Encore showroom has great sound and lighting and is a favorite venue of mine!!! I really enjoyed the show!!! The only thing I didn't enjoy is Ticketmaster's rip off fees as always!!! $128.00 ticket turns into $167.00 with the Corporate Greed of Ticketmaster!!! Believe me if there were another way to buy tickets and not give a cent of my money to Ticketmaster, I would sure do it!!! But that's life I guess. They have a monopoly on ticket buying... But a great concert!!! Thank you, Rockpix!!!

I am not a concert goer and at 55 yrs old this was my first. There are very few I would go see some are not around anymore like M.Jackson, an dMarvin Gaye.I have alway liked listening to George Benson and have bought one of his cassettes long ago.I like hanging out at the Wynn and their buffet on vacation so I decided to see his show while their.I didn't think he would sound at all like he did years ago but I was wrong. The show was the highlight of my vacation.

We had a really good experience and a great time overall!! George Benson put on a very memorable show. He had more hits to his name then I was aware of and we were glad when another one was played. He included band member performances in the show of which was top quality! It was a very diverse audience and everyone was in a good groove with each other. We strongly suggest going to one of his shows!

    Really good show!

I'm mostly a hard rock guy, but do love Jazz and Blues. I really love his instrumental work and his scatting. We really enjoyed the show - On Broadway live was worth the price of admission, alone.

    The Real Deal "Scatman"Personified!

    by SoCalKev on 8/21/23

George Benson lays out the melodic "Masquerade"with matching guitar and scat to perfection. He's in rarified air with the best in scat, like Armstrong, Dizzy, Ella and Sara Vaughn. Benson transports lifts your mind to a soothing place he's so familiar! Get a ticket as fast as you can to see him.....he's one of the last GREAT jazz singers, whose guitar is genius and his scat is beyond memorable.

    by Heathe on 8/16/23

Had a great time at the George Benson concert! Older and professional crowd, so none of the young people nonsense. He still got it and his passion for performing showed. Love the CCA venue. Love going to shows there! George Benson is a true music legend!

George Benson is fantastic. Great show

    by Kid Cudahy on 8/15/23

Excellent show. My only complaint was the chosen venue. The Chandler center for the Arts is better for plays rather than musical acts. The stage has no band shell, so most of the sound gets amplified up above the stage making it harder to hear details. Get a band shell!

    George Has Still Got It

    by AZcanuck on 8/15/23

Hard to believe it has been over 40 years since my wife and I saw George Benson in concert. At 80 years old I questioned whether he could still thrill us like he did over 4 decades ago. No question he's lost half a step in his guitar playing but it's still rich and soulful. And his voice is as smooth as ever! We enjoyed the concert, but wish there was an opening act (maybe a few numbers by their percussionist and back up singer Lilliana De Los Reyes) as they evening seemed to go by much too quickly. She did one solo, but it was in the middle of the set.
