The Wright center at Samford is a wonderful venue for this Alabama Ballet production of GB's The Nutcracker Ballet. I wish there were age restrictions on how old a 'patron' needs to be to attend.
If a baby is not able to sit in a seat and see the performance, i.e. doesn't require a ticket because they can't sit still, needs to be held because the seats would fold up under them, certainly age two and under, they are TOO YOUNG to be there and are disruptive to the performance. They, and their parents and care-givers jostling them around, from seat to seat, sitting them up on the armrest between seats, blocking the view of those behind them who are trying to enjoy the performance, crying out, yelling...in other words, acting their age, which is totally acceptable under other circumstances, but TOTALLY NOT ACCEPTABLE in this setting, then they should not be admitted to the performance.
If a patron can afford the most expensive tickets, appx. $65 each, then that patron should be able to afford childcare in their home or otherwise. If not, then don't come. Sometimes one has to miss things because of children. It's life. Grow up and take proper care of your children.
It is so unfair to the performers and to the rest of the audience. Be respectful or stay home with your infants.
