About

Genesis is one of the world's biggest selling and most successful bands of all time. They have sold an estimated 100 million albums and have played to sold-out stadiums and arenas all over the world for decades.

The evolution of Genesis is unique, their sound developed and progressed throughout their career and with multiple line-up alterations in the early years, the classic line-up of Tony Banks, Phil Collins, and Mike Rutherford took shape in 1976.

'And Then There Were Three' (1978) was the first album the band released as a three-piece and spawned the single 'Follow You Follow Me' which was their first UK top ten and US top 30 single and proved to be the start of huge commercial global success. The albums 'Duke' (1980), 'Abacab' (1981), 'Genesis' (1983), 'Invisible Touch' (1986) and 'We Can't Dance' (1991) followed for the trio, alongside almost constant global stadium tours cementing the band as one of the most successful of all time.

Tony, Phil and Mike reunited again as a band in 2007 after almost 10 years for the Turn It On Again Tour which went on to be one of the biggest grossing tours on the year playing sold-out stadiums around the world.

2021 will see Genesis tour for the first time in 14 years, in North America, the UK, and Ireland.

  • Fantastic concert!

by Hare on 12/16/21PPG Paints Arena - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

I saw Genesis in concert twice in the early '80s; both great experiences. The members of the band are now even more seasoned. I'm so glad I was able to attend part of their last tour together. Despite his health, Phil's voice is still so expressive. The light show was awesome as well!

  • Pittsburgh Knows What We Like

by Edski on 12/16/21PPG Paints Arena - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

Genesis returned to Pittsburgh for the first time since 2007 and despite some changes since that time put on a stellar show. The biggest change is Phil Collins, Phil's health has deteriorated since the last tour, and not only can he no longer drum but he had to sing while sitting in a chair. However, this didn't affect his ability to entertain and hold the crowd's attention. His voice was still great on a number of songs, and he was also aided by having two backup singers to help flesh out the vocal arrangements. The other big change is longtime touring drummer Chester Thompson has been replaced by Phil's son Nick. Nick's powerful playing style echoed that of his father's and his youthful exuberance and energy seemed to inspire founding members Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford and longtime touring guitarist/bassist Daryl Stuermer. Genesis played a varied set of songs from their long history reaching back to 73's Selling England by the Pound and even a snippet of "Stagnation" from 1970's Trespass album popped up during "I Know What I Like" The light show, and the visuals were probably the best I've ever seen on a Genesis tour and added to the powerful perfomance of the group. Whether or not if this is truly the last time, I'll have a chance to see the band only the future knows but if it truly is The Last Domino? then it is a great way to cap off remarkable and stellar career for one of the most talented and influential bands in rock!

  • Fantastic!

Great show, the set was excellent and Phil Collins sounded pretty damn good for his condition and was a great leader. The music was phenomenal!

  • Great Time

by TLP on 12/16/21PPG Paints Arena - PittsburghRating: 4 out of 5

I am 47 years old and this was my first concert ever. Performance was great and the talent of the musicians amazing. I loved that Phil's son is carrying on his Dad's talent. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

by Adventure Seekers on 12/16/21PPG Paints Arena - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

Wow, what a show! So glad we were able to see Genesis hopefully not for the last time but if it was it was the end to a 1000 memories with Genesis! They sounded great, Tony and Mike are so smooth - amazing! The show was energizing and Nick filled in for his dad perfectly! It would have been fun to watch Phil and Nick play the drums together but we were just glad to see them together on stage too. Thank for a perfect night of music and memories!

  • Outstanding Sound

by THurst on 12/16/21PPG Paints Arena - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve been to plenty of shows in basketball/hockey arenas and the sound quality is usually bad. But PPG was truly a remarkable experience! So many of the songs were better than album quality. Of course this is also largely attributed to Genesis being amazing, but the arena also played a large part!

  • Love this band...

by JLDD on 12/16/21PPG Paints Arena - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

After 40 years (my first show was with this band), I still love them for all the music, the feeling, and the emotion. Their music still moved me and their show at Pittsburgh was again a great feeling and a great show

  • Phil!

by Dennis on 12/16/21PPG Paints Arena - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

I really enjoyed the show ..lots of early Genesis and Classic hits like Home By the sea. It's sad to see Phil aging like the rest of us but he is still the Heart of the Band . I love the band and I was glad I was privileged to be there.

  • A great walk down memory lane

by Lisa B on 12/16/21PPG Paints Arena - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was a great mix of way backs and not so far back songs * 40 + years over 20+ years. Phil did great even seated and the back ground dudes hit the high notes he can't anymore. Still really well done. Favorite set design part was the spines of old Genesis CDS.

  • Fun Night!

by Mac on 12/16/21PPG Paints Arena - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

The staff at PPG Paints really know how to do their jobs! They are most helpful. The concert itself was quite enjoyable and entertaining. Being the same age as the Genesis band members it is sad to see Phil in particular looking so frail. Concert brought back a lot of good memories and my wife and I had a GREAT time.

  • Worth the Wait!

by srinestine on 12/16/21PPG Paints Arena - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

I missed a few opportunities to see Genesis live in the past, and like Pink Floyd I assumed that was it and I'd have to settle for their DVD concerts. Instead, by some miracle duing quite possibly the worst time possible on earth they appeared in my hometown. I have now checked off another box on my bucket list and I have a memory that will last me until alzheimers or just plain dementia takes it away. Geneis were everything I'd hoped they would be. The show was fantastic!!

Absolutely great show. Given they're older, that didnt waiver things. They knocked it out!! Phil was awesome. A+++ show.

  • Excellent Show

by Don on 12/16/21PPG Paints Arena - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

I have never missed a Genesis or Phil Collins concert and this was as good as all the others!

  • Thank you, Genesis! It was DEVINE!

by Awaken on 12/16/21PPG Paints Arena - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

This was both a powerful and quaint performance. Beautiful melodies and explosively soaring ones. Great song selection. In one word, this concert was DIVINE. They did not have to tour at their age, yet they went all out for us long term fans. Let's hope this is not the Last Domino. Maybe Nick can start Genesis II?

  • Great effort, great night

by Tom D on 12/16/21PPG Paints Arena - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

While they may not be in their prime, they still put on a great show with great talent and a bunch of familiar favorites which is what you want to hear! Well worth the time and expense, I give it a 5 star experience!

  • After all these years, they still sound great!

by Jrund on 12/16/21PPG Paints Arena - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen Genesis many times over my lifetime and the guys are now getting up there in age but can still bring it. I went to the concert hoping I'd get a good mix of older songs and more recent ones and I got it. Phil doesn't move around anymore but still gets the crowd into and he still sound good. His son Nic on the drums is incredible. Mike and Tony still sound great as well. I was entertained. The video and light show was also spectacular.
