    Super Charged Christmas Spirit

by Sue on 12/21/22Alex Theatre - Glendale

This is and always has been my favorite Christmas Concert of the year. This years did not disappoint. The sounds were all great, the choreography so much fun and the excellence of the voices was superb. I love the blend of humor and really good vocal music. Hats off to all for the hard work that went into it that made it look so easy!!

Gay Men's Chorus concert was the BEST!!!

by Cap on 12/20/22Alex Theatre - Glendale

You know all the songs. You know all the words. You can't help but sing along and tap your feet. There was, like, 140 men singing at you, with you. The little skits during the 2nd half was a nice touch. Looking forward to the next one.

    GMCLA

by PapaDo on 12/20/22Alex Theatre - Glendale

This was my first CMCLA concert. I totally enjoyed the Motown Christmas theme. It was entertaining and fun. A bonus was seeing Shanice singing I Love Your Smile. There were a few songs that were uneven, but that was easily overlooked. The Motown Guys were a nice touch, but not necessary. My only negative comment is that a few of the soloist need to be trained on how to use a microphone. I'm looking forward to attending their concert at Disney Hall in June 2023.

Great show! Musicality, fun, dancing, costumes and disco. GMCLA is always inspiring for their beautiful voices, but also for amazing work they do to stop bullying and engage communities through entertainment and acceptance. I will become a subscriber. The Saban is a great venue.

The GMCLA always put on an amazing show. They are some of the very best talent: singers, dancers, etc.

    Gmcla goes down under

by freddielew on 3/31/15Saban Theatre - Beverly Hills

First 4 were nothing that showed off the chorus. boring background to soloists? What were the dresses and the drag all about? Couldn't find any connection. Second half w/ overdone costumes. What was the connection to the rest of the numbers? Show not at all up to GMCLA standards. Choralography was ?????. Oh well, maybe the summer show will be back up to standards.

What an amazing combination of history and entertainment. The soloist were amazing and the performance by the "young" Harvey was breathtaking. The only negative is they only performed twice. :-)

    GMCLA Gives a Grand Performance!

by PlantGod72 on 7/23/14Walt Disney Concert Hall - Los Angeles

This evening was a celebration of the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles' 35 anniversary, and what a wonderful, entertaining and moving experience from start to finish! Beautiful voices and music, blended with the heartfelt emotion of celebrating just who and what created it, and why this organization exists. So glad we finally saw GMCLA live!

Great concert, but dump the Soprano!

by Poopydog on 7/23/14Walt Disney Concert Hall - Los Angeles

We loved the concert and the venue, although tickets were a bit pricey. It was beautifully staged, and as always, the GMCLA was wonderful. We were surprised, though, that the soprano that was chosen to sing with the chorus was so awful. Normally, your guest talent is far superior.

    Frustrating couldn't understand most lyrics

by GALAchorusFan on 7/23/14Walt Disney Concert Hall - Los Angeles

My first time at Disney Hall. Very impressive. I'm a big fan of GMCLA and expected a spectacular concert. We were very disappointed that the voices sounded "muddy" and we could not understand most of the lyrics in both halves of the concert, even the female soloist in second half. I wish they would print lyrics in the program and leave house lights up just a little so I could read lyrics and follow along. Would make it MUCH more enjoyable!

    Once in a lifetime experience

by ANSOD on 7/23/14Walt Disney Concert Hall - Los Angeles

As if the magnificence of Disney Hall wasn't enough, they had 500 singers, an orchestra, 3 lead singers of uncanny ability and an oratorio that was powerfully moving. "I am Harvey Milk", composed and sung by Andrew Lippa, was an experience I will never forget. Lippa captured important events in Milk's life sung in musical styles relevant to the events and times in which they occurred. Andrew Lippa is a talent that is at the forefront of a new era of Broadway composers. Like Bernstein he is not limited to a single genre. His recent Broadway show "Big Fish" is one of the best shows I have ever seen. The Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles has had some behind the scenes turmoils in past seasons. This was their 35th anniversary performance. Hopefully it's brilliance is a sign that the backstage dust has settled and they will be in top form once again.
