"I ain't really happy," sings Gary Allan on "Get Off on the Pain," the down-home masterstroke that begins and provides the name for his new MCA Nashville collection, "until the sky starts driving rain." Unhesitatingly frank, mercilessly guitar-crazed, it's the rocked-out country confession of a smart guy drawn to what the rest of the world calls wrong roads and long shots, or complains of as aching bones and stubbornness, or — as Allan sings in a spectacular stretch of drawn-out soulful vowels — underestimates as dark horses. And as the California-born superstar releases his eighth studio album, it's about the most Gary Allan piece anyone could imagine.

I have seen Gary Many times now and he never lets me down! He is AMAZING live!! Sound Stage was great! I will see Gary many, many more times!
Gary Allan is always an unforgettable performer. Even with the stark stage and somewhat bland video, the show was awesome. When he explained how all of their instruments and video equipment had been damaged by a tornado in Canada, we were thankful that they had not cancelled the show all together. By borrowing equipment from LeeAnn Rimes, Rascal Flatts and others, they were still able to put on a marvellous show.
Gary Allan was amazing live! I love him even more now!
Gary puts on a great show. With the size of the Sound Board it was cool to be close enough to really see him without paying hundreds of dollars. Please note that the cheap seats are really not seats. It is standing room only so wear comfy shoes or be prepared for your feet to hurt. Gary played for hour and a half.
Great show!Fantastic sound at Motor City Casino.Huge fan of GARY ALLAN since the first time I heard him on the radio. Stood about 20' from stage. Very personable venue. We could have listened to hiim for a few more hours. He seems to love what he does.
Level 1 of the Sound Board venue allowed us to be so close to the artist! Gary Allan is an amazing singer. My husband and I really enjoyed the concert.
I love Gary's voice, the Detroit Motor City Casino was very nice, but the volume of the band drown out being able to hear Gary very well. He only sang for 1 1/2 hours in Detroit, wanted to hear more. He's great to look at also. I would go back for Gary and the venue.
Gary Allan was his usual amazing, talented self. He puts on a great concert and talks to the fans and just made it an incredible evening! The venue was beautiful. It was smaller and intimate which created a more personal experience. Would definitely recommend this venue and will definitely see other acts there!! What a great evening!!!
I have been looking forward to this concert for a very long time, and Mr. Allan did not disappoint. Coming off of a string of set-backs; including losing all of their instruments due to a stage fire, Gary and his band were able to put together an amazing show. While the concert may not have been as high-energy as some people look for, the focus was on the music, which is what I like. The intimacy of the show, due to the size of the venue, made it unforgettable. I would definitely go again. Note on the venue: it was small and intimate which made it very nice. General admission is standing room only. Close and free parking with easy access to the expressway.
As always Gary Allan is awesome in concert! He played a good mix of new and old songs. He talked to the crowd more than I've seen at other shows which was nice. He's just a great artist.
What can I say?! Gary puts on an amazing show. Only wish he would've done Smoke Rings in the Dark....
GARY ALWAYS PUTS ON A GREAT SHOW. I LOVE SEEING HIM IN THE SMALLER VENUES. THE SET-UP AT THE SOUND BOARD WAS GREAT - AND KEPT COMFORTABLY COOL. A GOOD CROWD WITH NO PUSHING AND SHOVING ON THE MAIN FLOOR. UNFORTUNEATELY, I MISSED THE OPENING ACT - HAD TO WORK BUT GOT THERE IN TIME FOR GARY.
Gary put on a great show and interacted with the fans!!! He is the best!!
Great venue, great concert, awesome new guest (Megan James). Overall terrific night out! Sounds Board is hands down the best place in Detroit to see a concert! My only complaint has nothing to do with the performance....CHEAPER DRINKS PLEASE! We paid almost 20 bucks for two VERY SMALL drinks.....
We had a great time last night! We cant wait to see Gary again!
He was great in this small venue - he really rocked it out. I was concerned because his eyes looked very worn and tired, but he gave his performance a lot of energy.
I've seen Gary Allan a few times in concert and he always putson a great show! I will see him anytime he's within a few hours of STL! He has a great stage presence and always does a good mix of newer and older songs so you're sure to hear some of your favorites!
chuck was ALOT better than the last trip to Des Moines. Gary Allan was ROCKIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FROM THE FRONT ROW IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT,AND WHEN YOUR GIRLFRIEND IS ONE OF GARY ALLAN SUPERFAN THING CAN GET A LITTLE CRAZY TO SAY THE LEAST!!AND FOR ME THE LAST SHOT FROM THE WHISKEY BOTTLE WAS THE BOMB!! I'LL NEVER FORGET THAT SHOW AS LONG AS MY BRAIN STILL WORK!!!!!!!!!!!
