About

"I ain't really happy," sings Gary Allan on "Get Off on the Pain," the down-home masterstroke that begins and provides the name for his new MCA Nashville collection, "until the sky starts driving rain." Unhesitatingly frank, mercilessly guitar-crazed, it's the rocked-out country confession of a smart guy drawn to what the rest of the world calls wrong roads and long shots, or complains of as aching bones and stubbornness, or — as Allan sings in a spectacular stretch of drawn-out soulful vowels — underestimates as dark horses. And as the California-born superstar releases his eighth studio album, it's about the most Gary Allan piece anyone could imagine.

The show Gary Allan provided was amazing and top notch - the opening bad did not stir my blood - however, I was already fired up to see Gary Allan....Hearing him sing LIVE was better than I imagined - I would RECOMMEND - no DEMAND everyone see at least one Gary Allan concert in their life!

  • NEVER AGAIN

    by awa0082 on 9/4/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Sadly, never again would I expect to see Gary Allan at a venue as small as the LC. I don't think there's a country artist out there that can hold a candle to him. That voice!!! I hope everyone else wasn't offended that he was singing just to me!

  • Gary Allan was here to entertain

    by NoCountryfan1 on 9/4/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

The opening act got the crowd worked up and Gary Allan proceeded to keep the energy going all night. Great set, loads of fun and just what my wife and I needed as a break from the daily grind.

  • Gary Allan at the Lc

by DLynnesch on 9/4/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 3 out of 5

First, this was suppose to be outside. We get there and were told at the door it was inside. No notification....dressed for outside since it was a nice cool night and brought blankets. And they really did use the air....it was HOT. Secondly, there really should be a limit on alcohol what events are allowed to serve. There were way too many drunk people. Lastly, GARY rocked. This is the third time I have seen him and he is awesome LIVE in concert. Nothing to bad to say about Gary....but will think again about going to the LC.

Gary Allan was great we really enjoyed the show he is a great entertainer. The venue was horrible. The floor was slick from beer and there was no place to sit down. I am 8 months pregnant and would have liked to have seen a bar stool but there was none around. We got there at 6:00 stood in line till 6:45, the doors opened and the opening act did not come on until 9:15 with Gary Allan coming on at 9:45. That is way to long for a non-drunk person to stand. If we go to see GA again it will definitely be in a different setting.

  • Gary never puts on a bad show!

    by Autumnlee3 on 9/4/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 4 out of 5

This was the fifth time I've seen Gary Allen live. He doesn't get the credit he deserves!! You don't realize how many amazing songs he has. I think he is highly underrated!!!

  • Gary Allan

by fort on 9/4/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Gary Allan is amazing...His voice is awesome. I love when he strips it down and does acoustic. He put on a high energy concert. It was a great setlist and well worth every single penny. The only thing I didnt care for was he didn't go on until 9:30 PM...Lifestyle should annouce this. Doors opened at 6;30 PM...one assumes perhaps he would go on at 8 PM...3 hours after the doors open is too long to wait--unless annouced.

  • gary allan was fantastic!!

by mollyb on 9/4/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 4 out of 5

Gary was energetic and very soulful at the same time.. Continuous music very enjoyable packed house, fun crowd, quality sound for the most part....a little feedback here and there but all on borrowed, donated or new equipment and instruments after the tornado in Canada. Venue was too hot and minimal seating, (am I too old?) Ticket said 6:30 and Gary didn't come on til 9:15 Warm up potential for good sound but too high in some spots and a bit twangy, fair sound quality, sounded a bit staticky (?). They didn't start until 8:15. Much prefered environment and timing at Schott last week for Journey. All in all a great concert. Thank you to Gary and the band, great show

  • Gary NEVER disappoints!

    by JC36 on 9/4/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Again, Gary Allan did not disappoint. he is an awesome performer as well as an all around great guy. With his raspy voice and rough, rebel look...he had girls and women everywhere swooning for him.

  • Gary Allen was boring.

    by littlelady654 on 8/28/09Missouri State Fair - SedaliaRating: 2 out of 5

It was pretty much boring. He played a couple of songs that have been on the radio. He only played for just under an hour. He played mostly new "original" songs to promote his new album which is fine, but boring. He didn't seem happy or excited. He didn't acknowledge his fans. Not even a shout out.

  • Gary was AMAZING!

    by IQueenK2312 on 8/25/09MotorCity Casino Hotel - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

Gary's show on 8/21 at the MotorCity Casino was amazing. What a great small venue. The acoustics were good and Gary was on! He even told the story of what happened in Canada. You could actually understand every word. He played a good mix of old and new and signed autographs for a while after the last song was done. Great show!!!!!!!

  • GARY ALLAN WAS AMAZING!!

    by SHANNY14 on 8/24/09MotorCity Casino Hotel - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

GARY ALLAN WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING-GREAT VENUE FOR A SHOW-GREAT SOUND, MUSIC AND ATMOSPHERE. GARY ALLAN CONCERTS ARE SIMPLY THE BEST FROM BEGINNING TO END. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! VENUE ISSUES: LINE BEFORE DOORS OPENED WAS A LITTLE CONFUSING-NO DRINKS FOR SALE WHILE WAITING-ONE LINE TO GET WRIST BANDED FOR THE BAR-SEPERATE LINE FOR NON-DRINKERS....LINE CLOSED OFF FROM BAR AREA--VENUE MISSED A BIG OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE SOME $$$$$$ OFF FANS WHILE WAITING FOR SHOW. SECURITY WAS VERY NICE AND ACCOMODATING. SELL WATER, POP, BEER, DRINKS ETC. NEAR THE LINE NEXT TIME!

  • Gary ROCKED the house!

by GarysTrueFan on 8/24/09MotorCity Casino Hotel - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

He doesn't disappoint. The concert was awesome. I've seen Gary in concert several times and I'm floored each time. You're on such a high the rest of the night, he has an incredible energy. Hopefully, one day I'll get to meet him!

  • Gary Allen Rocked the House

by MinnesotaTwin on 8/24/09MotorCity Casino Hotel - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

Gary Allen sang his heart out and rocked the house. Everyone was singing and yelling and having a good time. He seemed to be having a good time too. Loved it. He was great. Megan James was super. She has a great voice and guy who accompanied her, harmonized well together.

  • Gary was awesome!

Everytime that I see Gary perform I think how in the world can he get any better and improve on the last one that I had seen? But some how he does it! After losing all of his equipment and props like the big screen, projectors, lights, smoke machines, even his stands with the candles on them, he still comes out and does a great show. I Honestly think that I like the simpler stage and just seeing Gary perform without all of the hype and smoke the show was incredible! We saw him again the next night at a county fair in Lima, Oh and some how he did it again and improved on his performance, just awesome!! How in the world can Nashville not see this man who is so talented???? Just beyond me?

  • Gary Allan was a let down this time...

by MrsPopp on 8/23/09MotorCity Casino Hotel - DetroitRating: 2 out of 5

Not sure if it was the venue or Gary and the band, or a combination of both. It was a lack luster concert and the sound just wasn't right. We have seen Gary other times and they were excellent performances. This one unfortunetly wasn't.

  • Gary Allan Rocked It!!!!

by jdgirl on 8/23/09MotorCity Casino Hotel - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome - Awesome Concert!!!! Gary puts on such a good concert... he sounds just as good live as recorded. After singing his new song "Today" - I can't wait for his new cd. The MotorCity Casino & Hotel was sweet as hell!
