About

"I ain't really happy," sings Gary Allan on "Get Off on the Pain," the down-home masterstroke that begins and provides the name for his new MCA Nashville collection, "until the sky starts driving rain." Unhesitatingly frank, mercilessly guitar-crazed, it's the rocked-out country confession of a smart guy drawn to what the rest of the world calls wrong roads and long shots, or complains of as aching bones and stubbornness, or — as Allan sings in a spectacular stretch of drawn-out soulful vowels — underestimates as dark horses. And as the California-born superstar releases his eighth studio album, it's about the most Gary Allan piece anyone could imagine.

  • The sound system was horrible.

by Linda on 5/13/24The Rose Music Center at The Heights - Huber HeightsRating: 2 out of 5

I couldn’t see the stage because of the people in front of me, but I thought the first three songs were either a joke or were being sung by someone other than Gary Allan. Things improve d marginally at some point but never sounded as it should have. The base drum was overbearing throughout the show. I purchased tickets for two previous concerts but was unable to go, so I was very excited to finally get the chance. I have been to other performances at The Rose, and they all sounded great. I’m really not sure what went wrong with this concert, but it sounded horrible.

Opening act was great! She went on at 8:00 and finished at 8:30. We then waited 40 minutes for Gary Allen to go on and the music was louder than his voice and he was so raspy he couldn’t carry a tune. We left after 4 songs. Thank god the tickets were cheap.

He put on an amazing performance! Hope that he comes back to the area again soon. It was my husbands first concert and he said he would definitely go again. Very clean and comfortable venue can’t wait to go back.

  • I Think Gary Needs a Refresh

by Mixed Review on 5/13/24The Rose Music Center at The Heights - Huber HeightsRating: 4 out of 5

Love Gary's music. Just hit after hit. I've seen him a number of times now and the show always seems the same. You have to leave in the hits, but I think he needs to bring in some other stuff from his catalog. He should probably be a 2 hour show at this point. Friday night I think it would have been a stretch to say he played 90 minutes. He's still priced reasonably compared to what's out there now, but we still deserve a better effort as fans.

  • Perfect night.

by Melinda on 5/13/24The Rose Music Center at The Heights - Huber HeightsRating: 5 out of 5

The venue was great. Great view from our section and great sound. No long lines despite a close to full house. Gary Allan was amazing!

  • Gary Allan @ The Rose

by Tam on 5/13/24The Rose Music Center at The Heights - Huber HeightsRating: 3 out of 5

Great venue - I've been there several times before - but the sound this time was horrible. Too much base, too much drum that drowned out his singing. It was a good show but, because of the sound issues, not one I truly enjoyed. That's sad to me because I've always loved his music and seeing him was something I'd always wanted to do.

  • Completely Disappointed

by JennB on 5/13/24The Rose Music Center at The Heights - Huber HeightsRating: 1 out of 5

I love Gary Allen and looked forward to seeing him at the Rose Music Center. I talked 8 of my friends into buying tickets and going with me ... what a disappointment!! The sound was terrible; you could not even understand the majority of what was being sung. Also, the choices of songs for his concert were not what you have expected. The crowd was not engaged and seemed like we were not the only ones who were disappointed. We left before the end of the concert because the sound was so bad it was unenjoyable. I'm sorry Mr. Allen, but you didn't impress on this one!

  • Daughters first concert

by Jonesy on 5/13/24The Rose Music Center at The Heights - Huber HeightsRating: 5 out of 5

Had a blast! The rose is always a great time and for my daughter’s first concert I couldn’t t have asked for better.

  • It's always wonderful....

by Lorrie on 5/13/24The Rose Music Center at The Heights - Huber HeightsRating: 5 out of 5

Gary Allan is the best. We always travel about 1.5 hours to see him, every darn time!!! Much love from Kentucky!!

  • Terrible

by AE on 5/13/24The Rose Music Center at The Heights - Huber HeightsRating: 1 out of 5

He seemed drunk/high. Always turned his back. The lights and his instruments were extremely loud that you couldn’t hear him that well. We left after his fourth song because it wasn’t worth it and we weren’t the only ones to leave either. His opening act was great!

  • Best voice in country music

by Cheryl on 5/12/24Penn's Peak - Jim ThorpeRating: 5 out of 5

Gary Allan puts on one of the best shows. He never disappoints. He looked really happy and the band looked like they were all having a great time. We go to every show that is close by. Will see him this fall in Williamsport PA.

  • Forever my favorite

by Moe on 5/12/24Penn's Peak - Jim ThorpeRating: 4 out of 5

Gary put on a great show like always but his energy wasn’t as usual. I have travelled to several states to attend his concerts. This one felt a bit downplayed from normal. I was a bit disappointed he didn’t sign autographs after the show like he usually did. He will forever be my favorite though.

  • Great show, great performance

by ElectraGlide on 5/12/24Penn's Peak - Jim ThorpeRating: 5 out of 5

Gary always puts on a great show. This was the 20th time I've seen him. This show was different than the last. No screen with images in the back, more lights. Different songs.
