Great seats for the price. Easy to find and could see the entire stage. Gary Allan was amazing, as always. I would see him anywhere. This was my 15th concert for him. Great show!

    A fun time at Funshine

by KEV0512 on 5/6/13Live Nation Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds - Tampa

We were only up for the Friday portion of the festival. The Smashing Pumpkins put on a great show. My only wish was that their performance did not overlap with Train's. SP played for 2 hours (which was awesome), but by the time we walked over to the ampitheatre, Train was almost over. It was fun having the fair going on - we enjoyed the rides, and it was nice having that included as a part of the festival.

    FUNSHINE FESTIVAL

by PULL on 5/6/13Live Nation Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds - Tampa

THE ONLY NEGATIVE THING WAS THE REQUIRED WALKING DISTANCE TO GET TO THE AMPITHEATRE. SOME OF US WENT JUST FOR THE MUSIC AND WE WERE FORCED TO WALK ALL THE WAY AROUND AND COME THROUGH THE MIDWAY AREA WHICH WAS A 15 MINUTE WALK FROM THE GATE ENTRANCE. I KNOW THE REASON WAS TO GET MORE PEOPLE TO WALK THROUGH THE MIDWAY AND SPEND MONEY ON FOOD AND DRINKS BUT CONSIDERATION SHOULD BE GIVEN TO ALL

We The Kings and New Found Glory

by nia025 on 5/6/13Live Nation Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds - Tampa

Very happy with this event. Combining state fair set up with music was a very good idea. My daughter and I saw We The Kings and New Found Glory and both bands gave outstanding performances. Looking forward to attending next year with more great bands.

    Loved REO!

by HockeyMom59 on 5/6/13Live Nation Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds - Tampa

Liked REO the best! They played many old songs which are the ones I like! Liked Styx too, but not original band and they didn't play Babe! :(

Show was great, Festival was not

by tbay2 on 5/6/13Live Nation Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds - Tampa

I've been going to the Amp since it first opened. It is a great place to see a show. The accoustics are awesome and I have always had a blast. Saturday night was no different. Ted Nugent was awesome when he shut and and played. Styx was simply amazing as they always are. REO Speedwagon was good, but I was there for Styx, so it was anti-climactic for me. So why the 2 stars? Simply put, the festival was silly. I parked at very close to the ampatheater, and was then told I had to walk all the way around to the back of the park to get in. I was literally 200 feet away from my destination, but spent the next 20 minutes being directed to the farthest part of the park no where near where the show was. I got to the entrance with my sealed bottle of water (which the amp has always allowed) and was told that unless I had a medical condition, no water allowed. I tried explaining to the Agua Police that the Live Nation Website said I could bring in a bottle of water, but she made it clear that she wasn't interested in things like facts and rules. So I began my arduous trek around the various buildings and eventually got to the midway. The midway had more rides for little kids that for adults. And all the rides were empty. This may have been a good idea if the bands were more along the lines of One Direction, or maybe the Wiggles or Dora the explorer. But few parents in their right minds would take their kids to see Ted Nugent. And if they do, expect them to learn a few new words from Uncle Ted. But to his credit, he didn't play "Klstrphck". So Live Nation Amp, next time you do this, please allow people who only want to go to the actual amp to go their directly. Trust me, if I decide to bring my kids, they will make sure that I go to the midway.

    Great Festival

by TampaGirl245 on 5/6/13Live Nation Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds - Tampa

This was a fantastic festival!! The number of stages and caliber of the bands was superb. I can't give it five stars because twice we went to see bands and left 20 minutes past the start time because no one showed. Overall, I highly recommend and will go again next year. The addition of food trucks was great as was all the rides

Funshine Music Festival - outstanding event.

by SliceofLife on 5/6/13Live Nation Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds - Tampa

This event was an incredible entertainment value. Great music played on 5 different stages around a wonderful state fare quality midway made for a truly spectacular weekend long event. I spent close to 25 hours of the weekend watching as many of the bands as I could and only was able to see maybe half of them. Great mix of old rock Styx, to indi with Smashing Pumpkins, top 40 Train, local bands Pittbull Toddler, up and coming bands We the Kings and New Found Glory, REO Speedwagon was fantastic. Suggestions for next year – ADVERTISE the event a lot more! Barely anyone I talked to in the weeks before had heard anything about it. Tampa is a walk up kind of town and people don’t come to what they aren’t hearing about. Radio shows didn’t talk it up; the newspapers didn’t ether – which hurt the turn out. Talk up the midway too. I was expecting something like a high school fundraiser – but it was almost like the Strawberry Festival midway – and all rides were free. The vibe was festive, the music great, rides were incredible, food everywhere – a must do again in 2014 event with a lot more advertising.

The evening was perfect for an outdoor concert, cool breazy night and not humid. The sound quality was great and the performances were a trip down memory lane!

Outstanding day of great music and rides.

by rnervous on 5/6/13Live Nation Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds - Tampa

I loved this concert/event. It was terrific to be able to ride rides and also see some great concerts. I watched Ted Nugent and he was terrific along with Styx. I didn't stay for REO but I'm sure they put on a heck of a show. I hope this is an annual tradition. I would definitely go back.

    Tampa's first real music festival

by LotusBlossomFlower on 5/6/13Live Nation Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds - Tampa

For me it started Friday night with an incredible performance by the Pumpkins. Billy sounded as great as ever. Saturday was a flash back to my early teens watching REO and Sytx. I am proud to say my childhood favs still rocked the house 35 years later. Keep on rocking guys. Sunday night I closed things out with the Wallflowers and Tonic. Tonic sounded amazing. They really put on a great show. As far as the lineup is concerned I really enjoyed the diversity. I just wish more people would have come out to the Fri and Sun evening shows. I don't think people understood what a great deal the event was. All the free rides were great. Consessions were all reasonable. Everything was really great. Next year I need to bring a few hundred people with me!

What an awesome lineup of bands along with the midway rides all included in one reasonable price! The Food trucks were a nice bonus if you don't like carni food. The only downer was not being able to bring our $10 beer we bought within the gates into the Ampitheater and then finding out our general admission tickets were for the lawn only.

Rockin' the Midway Funshine Music Festival

by PurrKitty7 on 5/5/13Live Nation Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds - Tampa

My friend and I had a great time at the Rockin' the Midway Funshine Music Festival at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, Fla on Friday, May 3. We enjoyed watching Cheap Trick, the Smashing Pumpkins and Youngblood Hawke. We wish Ticket Master and the Rockin' the Midway Funshine Music Festival had advertised the $25 tickets prior to the tickets going on sale in February since my friend and I weren't planning to see Train and Phillip Phillips. We understood the $60 tickets were for all bands and the only admission price available besides the VIP tickets. Train was also scheduled at the same time as the Smashing Pumpkins. We never went to our seats at the amphitheatre since we weren't planning to see Train.
