Amazing venue, great opening bands and fuel was rockin
GREAT Show by Fuel, WOuld have been nice to know 4 bands were playing before them
Fuel was amazing and the opening acts were great. Great variety before Fuel came on then Fuel brought the house down.
It is good to see Brett back out on the road. As most Fuel fans already know, this version of the band only contains one original member: Brett. (Carl Bell will not be at the venues lol, but don't let this be a reason for you not to go. The band members were giving it their all.... the bass player (ex-Shinedown) was great, as were the drummer and lead guitarist.) It seems to me that Brett is suffering from vocal strain, which I've heard that he has in the past. This is not his fault, but a bit disappointing, being that he hasn't been on the road in a while, and now is finally back out. He did struggle with the high notes on some songs. "Jesus or a Gun" didn't sound very good, and a few folks left early. Nonetheless, as the show went on, his voice seemed to open up a little more. He is a classic singer and artist, and it was great to be in his presence and hear his timeless songs. I was glad I went. It was good to hear songs like Shimmer, Bad Day, Hemmorhage, Bittersweet, and Sunburn, and the crowd's reaction/singing along to them. I felt like the band played their hearts out, and you can tell they love what they're doing. It was well worth the extremely reasonable price for this show. Get out to the venues and support these guys.
Wow Radorna, clearly you're not the "old school fan" that you claim to be. Because if you were then your review wouldn't be so inaccurate. You say they only played 3 old songs?? Funny because actually they played ALL old songs & only like 3 new songs. You also claim they didn't play any old songs during the encore? I think you have a hearing problem, because they played Hideaway & Hemmorhage during the encore... which are both old songs. You obviously don't know any of the songs off their old albums. I guess the only songs you know are the radio hits lol. As for the REAL fans, you all know what a great show it was! They played all old songs & like 3 new ones. It's great having Brett back! Wasn't Fuel without him. Toryn did not fill Brett's shoes. No one can, in my opinion :)
My husband and I were a little disappointed by the Fuel concert at the Starland Ballroom this past Saturday. The first three warm up bands were way too hard to listen to and not enjoyable at all. Park Lane wasn't that bad. When Fuel finally took the stage we were anticipating a great concert but that wasn't the case. We have been Fuel fans since their inception and were hoping to hear more of their old stuff, not just 3 songs. When Fuel came out to do an encore, we thought it would be an older song and again, it wasn't. That is when we left sadly.
at the opening brett had mentioned he was a bit sick but you could not tell as he gave a great performance and his voice was a good as ever.
Fuel was fantastic! Loved most of the songs covered but was a little concerned that lead singer was straining his throat (sick). Husband was thrilled to be part of this event and ecstatic to be right up front!!!
It was a very good show. It was my first time seeing Fuel live and I can't wait to see them again.
I saw Fuel 10 years ago at Asbury Park, NJ and it was a pleasure to see them again and writing some new stuff. Brett Scallions was a little sick this evening but overall I appreciated the performance he gave and look forward to more stuff from them. He still had great stage presence and had a very electric performance.
Great concert overall; however, I was HIGHLY disappointed in the fact that not only did the concert time be rescheduled with only an email alert (thankfully I received) but also the entire lineup was changed the day before the event with NO alert. Very unprofessional in my opinion. Thankfully the opening bands were quite well and made up for the lack of time the headliner received.
Very upset with this concert. At no time were we made aware there would be so many bands playing before Fuel took the stage. Although the bands they had were very good, it would have been nice to know and be prepared for. Lots of people around us were upset that they got there early and had to stand for hours before the main show. The venue was VERY HOT and uncomfortable. When Fuel finally took the stage - the sound was so bad that it actually hurt your ears. I know the Fuel songs by heart, and could not tell what words they were singing. We were up near the stage and even moved to the back of the room - still sounded horrible. We ended up leaving 4 songs into their set. I attend concerts frequently, have attended them at the Alter Bar before, so I am not a first timer, or afraid of a loud concert. This was horrible, disappointing and unprofessional from a sound aspect.
I am sad to say that Fuel's performance was subpar at best. They started the show off an hour late which is never a good sign. The sound was entirely too loud for such a small venue. The singer had a rough night trying to reach his notes and mostly ended up screaming the lyrics. This was my first time to see them in concert and I have to say probably my last.
Fuel rocks! They put on a great show and the new line up is just awesome! Everyone NEEDS to see this band live! They are the best!!
Fuel was absolutely awesome! High enery level and sounded great. One of the better live performances I've seen!
There were some benefits to the concert. The Altarbar was not crammed packed. However, overall, the concert had some major flaws, including: --Fuel performed very few songs and the concert was incredibly short. --The instrumentals were so overpowering that you could barely hear the lead singer. --The band was unable to stir the crowd. Very lame.
Fuel was awesome as usual! Everyone NEEDS to see this band live!
I gotta say, I am never disappointed when I go to jazz. You get twice as many bands then the bigger venues at half the price :) fuel was awesome and I am glad I got to see them in a venue this intimate. That's really special. Some of the other bands were pretty good too. I thought park lane was spot on. One band was way off key. But all in all a good night for music. Something for everyone.
Of course Fuel performed their absolute best so I want to review the location. The Party by the Pool at LDL provides the perfect setting for outdoor concerts. Eagerly awaiting the next time I can go. If you are close enough to SW LA check out the lineup they have this year, totally awesome!
Lit was amazing! They played a lot of songs from their upcoming album and I cannot wait to get it! The band was really cool and was just hanging out by the pool while they watched Fuel perform.I even got to meet them and take a picture with them! Fuel was really good as well and although the lead singer was sick he didn't let that hinder their performance. It was an awesome night!
