Was great to see Brett back in action. Fuel is not Fuel without Carl Bell. Althougth all the musicians were amazing, It was hard to see at first the performance without the originals. Brett is an amazing performer & sucked me into the band from the start years ago. Wish him all the best in his new venture. Could watch & listen forever. still missed Carl & Jeff

  • Brett is back & the best!

I don't understand how Fuel could consider moving forward without Brett Scallions after seeing Saturday's show - his voice IS Fuel. He was right on with every song, full of energy, and really appeared to be enjoying his time on stage. Venue was comfortably packed, sound not overly loud.

  • Just loud and sadly not good...

The lead singer was spitting when he sung and was sweating profusely by the end of the 1st song. The lead guitar player was pretty bad. Solos just sounded like missed notes and the amount of distortion was unnecessary (especially after every song). The lead singer & lead guitar player trying to play Pink Floyd's "wish you were here" acoustic was just bad. The new drummer playing a didgeridoo?! "Wasn't that cool?" No, no it wasn't. About 1/3 of the crowd left before the show was over. Fuel has a great first 3 studio albums. Sadly this new incarnation of the bad isn't worth seeing.

OK, not that impressed. Would have like to have heard more of the recent stuff when Brett wasn't lead singer, but it was ok.

  • Fuel at the Starland Ballroon NY 5/22/10

by Billyaxe on 5/23/10Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 4 out of 5

I followed Fuel heavily in the years they put out their albums and then I dropped off when original singer Brett Scallions left the band. They replaced the singer and continued on - but for me it just wasnt good anymore. Last year Brett Scallions formed a new band called Refueled with the Fuel bass player and did some NY area shows. It was great because Scallions as the singer is most important to the sound. When I saw this Starland Ballroom show billed as "Fuel with original singer Brett Scallions" I assumed this was a reunion of the original band with Scallions. It was not. Only Scallions and not even the bass player he used in ReFueled played. Some people might see this as a deception. I'm sure some were dissappointed. I still enjoyed the show because Scallions is the most important member of the band. But how can he legally use the name "Fuel" when the band has continued on with another singer? Does he need to use the name "Fuel" ? Nonetheless it was a great show filled with every single great song from the bands history except "Innocent." I highly recommend the show but realize that this isnt "Fuel" it's "Refueled."

  • Fuel still rocks!

It's been five years since Brett has played with Fuel. And even though it may not be the same members that started it all, Fuel still rocks. The show was amazing, I'm really glad I went. I hope they come around again soon.

  • Fuel is Back!

Welcome back Brett! The band was reunited with lead singer Brett Scallions! The sound from the late 90's early 2000's were back as if he had never left! They performed like the Rock Stars they are. I hope they put out a new album so they will tour again and when they do I will be up front rockin out to all the songs I love again!

It was awesome to see Brett back at vocals and he was really great. Must say I am a HUGE fan of Yogi and he was AMAZING! Gibson guiters should be sponsering that boy he made some real sweet sounds with the collection he had there last night. Really great show. If the cast of players remains I'll be looking forward to new Fuel music and attending all the shows I can!

  • Fuel was OK

I went to this show as a casual fan and nothing I saw will change that. Fuel performed the required hits and seemed to be having a good time doing it but were not overly inspiring to watch. The singer (sorry, don't know his name) was having a rough night out of the gate but got better as the night wore on. The performance was more than adequate to satisfy the fan base but if you did not know many of the songs and focused on the performance itself it was a bit lacking. I gave my 4 star rating as I really enjoyed the opening act Jaded. The first opening band was an all female rock group called Jaded, they were the best example of a club band putting on an arena style show that I have recently seen. They are a band that understands image, from the clothes to the stage presence to the songs it was a visual as well as a sonic feast. They are definitely inspired by the 80's so if you do not like hook laden songs and great guitar playing look elsewhere, for anyone else look no further.

  • Fuel was Good

I have loved Fuel for a long time and love their older music from 2003-2004. They played most of their old music which was great, but I was hoping for at least a couple of their new songs, which they didn't do. They did however, do such a great job on their older music that it was hard to feel disappointment in the end. It was definitely a great show, and I'm glad I finally got to see them. Would highly recommend seing them.

THOUGHT FUEL WAS GREAT !! ONLY NEGATIVE WAS THAT THEY LEFT OUT A FEW OF THEIR HITS SUCH AS "FALLS ON ME" AND A FEW OTHERS .

Bretts voice was in great shape for the show, I don't think he missed a note all night long. It was my first time at Bourbon St. and I thought the sound crew had the sound dialed in perfectly. Great Show!!
