About

FREDDIE GIBBS IN CONCERT:

Rising young rapper Freddie Gibbs is set for another big year, touring the country with Tech N9ne and putting the final touches on his second studio full-length. At his 2013 shows, Gibbs continued to display the same lyric al virtuosity and precision he's become known for, hyping up crowds with electric performances of fan-favorites like "BFK" and "No Bottles." With more than ten mixtapes under his belt, Gibbs has plenty of material to draw from for his 2014 tour dates, where he'll perform his biggest hits alongside deep cuts from his catalog.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Hailing from Gary, Indiana, Gibbs' demos caught the attention of Interscope execs in the mid-'00s, prompting a brief 2006 move to LA for the recording of his first album. The record was shelved after a management shakeup at the label the following year, but Gibbs was undeterred, continuing to release mixtapes in Atlanta before returning to Los Angeles to record more music. Self-released efforts like 2009's midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik and  2010’s Str8 Killa EP continued to bolster his reputation, earning him some high-profile supporters and paving the way for his 2013 full-length debut ESGN (Evil Seeds Grow Naturally). With sophomore album Eastside Slim due out in 2014, Gibbs is poised to capitalize on the heap of buzz he's generated with his decade-long run of rock-solid releases.

    Great Crowd // Ferocious Set

by JayOh on 5/14/24The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New York

Just wish they performed a tick longer, but the wind blowing in from behind the stage on the Pier 17 rooftop was too cold.

    Gangsta Gibbs & Madlib

by Greg on 5/14/24The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New York

Gibbs killed it. The venue was so dope, especially being on the rooftop and seeing Gibbs with Madlib on the boards was special.

    Awesome!

by Mariko on 5/14/24The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New York

I flew from Canada to see this concert and Freddie Gibbs/Madlib had amazing stage presence. Last time I saw Gibbs, he was extremely drunk and slurring but he was really good this time.

    A Cash Grab..

by Tim on 5/14/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

This concert was more or less a joke. Freddie hyped up playing the whole Pinata album before and during the show, but only played for 40 minutes and talked a good portion of it which only had him playing half of the album. Live band was nice, I definitely enjoyed them and Madlib was fine too. Feel free to look on the Freddiegibbs subreddit and look for people's feedback of the Boston show. I'm certainly not alone. Whack performance by the man himself.

    Concert Way Too Short

by Griffim on 5/13/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

Concert was disappointingly short, especially for 10th anniversary. Freddie alluded to playing the whole album and only did 10 songs plus a Bandana encore. Was pretty disappointed with that. Live band was cool.

    Short but sweet

by Austin on 5/13/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

Everyone involved did an excellent job, it just turned out being much shorter than I expected and was led to believe by the performers at the start of the show. Ending was very sudden!

Very fun hearing different renditions of a classic album. El Michel added a lot

    Great show but disappointed

by Cam on 5/13/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

Sounded great and great stage presence but coming out late then only playing for maybe an hour is unacceptable

    Too short

by si_mio on 5/13/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

Freddie was great and concert was really cool with the band, but it lasted 1h, on point. And then Freddie left and not even a goodbye or anything. It felt like he just did the minimum and f it all. Disappointed on the length of the concert, although the 1hour was great.
