FREDDIE GIBBS IN CONCERT:
Rising young rapper Freddie Gibbs is set for another big year, touring the country with Tech N9ne and putting the final touches on his second studio full-length. At his 2013 shows, Gibbs continued to display the same lyric al virtuosity and precision he's become known for, hyping up crowds with electric performances of fan-favorites like "BFK" and "No Bottles." With more than ten mixtapes under his belt, Gibbs has plenty of material to draw from for his 2014 tour dates, where he'll perform his biggest hits alongside deep cuts from his catalog.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Hailing from Gary, Indiana, Gibbs' demos caught the attention of Interscope execs in the mid-'00s, prompting a brief 2006 move to LA for the recording of his first album. The record was shelved after a management shakeup at the label the following year, but Gibbs was undeterred, continuing to release mixtapes in Atlanta before returning to Los Angeles to record more music. Self-released efforts like 2009's midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik and 2010’s Str8 Killa EP continued to bolster his reputation, earning him some high-profile supporters and paving the way for his 2013 full-length debut ESGN (Evil Seeds Grow Naturally). With sophomore album Eastside Slim due out in 2014, Gibbs is poised to capitalize on the heap of buzz he's generated with his decade-long run of rock-solid releases.
I only have two complaints the wait for Freddie Gibbs to come on stage was very long but made sense when he arrived on stage. Second complaint the crowd could’ve been much better. Huge shout out to Freddie Gibbs for the amazing performance

Very good show. I wish the opening act wouldn’t have lasted so long but it was still decent. Freddie gave a great performance. A few tracks I wanted him to perform but he didn’t but overall a great show. Great breath control and crowd control. True MC. I’ll go to another show in the future.
This was Freddie’s second night at Irving Plaza and he rocked the house. It was a chill vibe and security kept everything safe. The energy was high and it was a good time.
First off, the Fillmore is a great venue, parking is decent, getting in and out of the building is usually speedy and orderly and there's a reasonable chance you can get a good view of the artist. The sound set up is also pretty good, no complaints there. The biggest issue I had was the offering for access to the Vertigo lounge. I misunderstood the description and thought I was purchasing access to a different area of the venue. The description says that it does not include a seat, but I was thinking that in combination with the ticket I purchased that I would have access and a seat. That might be on me but I was annoyed when I arrived, I'm hopeful that this may get them to adjust the description a bit for simpletons like myself. Whoever is in charge of booking the opener misunderstood the assignment as the first act brought great energy while the 2nd one might not have been the ideal artist to feature before the main artist as his set seemed to drag on forever and significantly reduced the energy in the room. MIKE stayed for far too long. Other than that I really enjoyed the show, looking forward to coming back and seeing more artists at the Fillmore.
Freddie came on maybe ten minutes late, then his DJ's laptop immediately malfunctioned and we had to wait another few minutes while they switched some cables around before the show could actually start. I've heard of artists staying on stage and interacting with fans to keep them busy during technical difficulties, and it would have been nice if Freddie did that too. But all that aside, once the show got going, Freddie was great
The only thing about the set I didn’t like was how short it was. Great time!

Freddie performance was amazing, best rapper in the game. I also became fans of the opening acts MIKE and Redveil!
Saw him twice; in Atlanta, GA, and Silverspring, MD. A performer at best. Most artists rap and dance to the vocal track while performing. He raps without the vocal track and fully engages with the crowd showcasing his talents as an MC. If you’re a fan of Hip-Hop, I strongly recommend this show.
No backing track, no stopping, just pure energy and soul into each and every word. A must see live

Freddie Gibbs performance was dope & definitely worth the price of admission.
Gibbs killed it. The most impressive part was his energy and breath control for the entire show. He did about an hour and a half and didn't stumble a word, get tired or have a million homies on stage filling in after every bar. One of the most impressive stage shows from a rapper I've seen in a while. And not so much for the theatrics but the technical aspect. His live performance was on par with the records which is very difficult to do. Would def rock with him again.

Great new concert experience in Boston area. Very polished and some of the best rapping you can find from Freddie and Conway. Glad I didn't miss it!
