    Heartbroken

by Anonymous on 1/23/12Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Madlib was wildly disappointing. He didn't play the songs that reflected his signature sound. He wasn't engaging and lacked energy. I thought his set was incredibly boring. Freddie Gibbs was also a bad choice given the crowd he was performing in front of. Telling hipsters to scream "fuck da police" is funny, but doesn't really make sense. I wanted more Freddie Gibbs/Madlib tracks outside of the single and didn't get them. I felt like it was a waste of money.

Mind Altering Demented Lessons In Beats

by Wofda11211 on 1/20/12Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Best DJ showing I've seen in a while. J. Rocc was masterful of the 1's & 2's. Madlib's set had the most jaded bass heads nodding. Stones Throw crew always puts on a great show. The focus here was on the music. The DJs took me a whirlwind tour of their finest cuts and samples of the hip-hop music scene. J. Rocc, yet again, proves his mastery of the J Dilla beat catalogue. By the time MC Freddie Gibbs hit the stage there was nothing left to prove but how to apply a seasoned MC into the mix...which they did. Freddie confidently brought his finest to the stage. The cadence of his rhyming and lyrical quality to his flow proves that he is force to reckoned with. Have def left the show a bigger fan of Freddie than I already was from his collabos with the likes of Curren$y (Covert Coup) and Freeway.

    madlib/j rocc was indescribably awesome...

by SupaKracka on 1/20/12Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

coming from a true head, the show was amazing. j rocc played his usual sick sets. mad crazy funk and soul with underlying hip hop beats. some exclusive sneak previews. (madvillian sh*t, oh no and roc c, blackstar) madlib on the other hand was up to his usual tricks. playing a lot of medicine show stuff. and tweakin out on the mix. he seemed kinda faded., but still delivered it raw.
