About the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo
There are lots of annual events out there that go back a long way, but none can hold a candle to the history that's behind the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. The oldest of any continuously operating rodeo in America, it began toward the end of the 19th century, way back in 1896. Every year since then (with the exception of 1943 for WWII-related reasons), the event, also known as the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show, has brought the best in rodeo entertainment and livestock exhibitions/competitions to Texas, with people traveling from all over the country to see it. Now, that's a tradition. Not surprisingly, considering its long history, the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo has been responsible for many innovations over the years in the presentation of rodeo, including the first indoor rodeo, and the first presentation of Brahman bull riding.
So what can you expect from the current version of an event with such a rich legacy? Well, for starters, three weeks' worth of rodeo action, of course, including the ProRodeo tournament as well as the likes of Bulls' Night Out extreme bull riding, the Best of the West ranch rodeo, the Best of Mexico Celebración and the Cowboys of Color rodeo show. But there's much more beyond that. Livestock shows include everything from cattle and goats to pigeons and poultry. There are lots of live music performances, from country to mariachi music, plus Western music and cowboy poetry. Wine and beer makers host events based around their crafts. Onsite food vendors offer no shortage of menu items to satisfy every taste. And when you patronize the rodeo, you're also supporting a nonprofit organization that's been responsible for donating huge amounts of money to foster the future of agriculture and livestock rearing.
The Event was great ! Very Authenic, my 2nd year in a row.
Four of us went to Bulls Night Out, and we were thoroughly entertained for over 2 hours with exciting action.
This is an event that we try to attend every year as a family . This year I took my 15 year old son and his best friend. It was his friend's very first Rodeo. We all had a Great Time!
This event was poor at best. There was a 30 minute introduction that was putting most people to sleep. The singers were rediculous and sound was poor. When it came down to the actual events, there were only two competitions and with 5 contestants. This was at total waste of time.
Great event Exept to short other years it last about 2 or 3 hours and this year only 1 hr or a litle more
Show was amazing....gave me the feeling of being in Mexico!!!! I had never been to it but will surely go back next year...can't wait!!!!
The Ranch Rodeo is not the normal competition rodeo, it is ranch hand teams competing against each other in events that are more normal to everyday ranching verse the bull riding and bronc busting that you see in the pro circuit. Definitely fun to watch, but would be very disappointing to people that were expecting the bull riding, with rodeo clowns etc.
The Ranch Rodeo was just as exciting and fun to watch this year as it always is! Seeing the working Ranches Cowboys compete in events that they actually do in their everyday lives is so awesome. My husband rides in some of the Ranch Rodeos around our area, so we have a real love for seeing these Rodeos. Can't wait for next year!!!!
Ft. Worth Stock Show and Rodeo is awesome! It's a great time. Do not sit in the last two rows as you will feel like you are stuck in a corner and cannot take in the full experience. A more detailed seating chart showing the row would be helpful when purchasing tickets.
The finals rodeo on Sunday night was as entertaining as ever. The talent that makes it to the final round is amazing, definately worth seeing and trying to appreciate what these people do for a living. Been going for over 30 years and don't regret any pennies spent.
I always love the rodeo, especially the short round (otherwise known as the finals). Even though most of the exhibitors had left the grounds since their competitions were long over with, there were still plenty of sights to catch before the rodeo. If you're looking for rodeo excitement, gotta catch the finals - last rodeo of the event. If you're looking to take in the sights, see all the animals, and partake in events - you're best off attending on an earlier date when the animals are being shown.
This was my first time to come to the Ft Worth Stock Show, even though I have lived less than 100 miles away all my life. I finally attended and can't believe all the years I have been missing such a great event.. The vendors were excellent, so friendly and helpful. Then the Rodeo was such a great presentation. The Gays all ways run a great show, just like in Mesquite.. Defintely top of the line..PROFESSIONALVery impressive. I will return next year, and the next, and the next God willing!
This was as always an excellent event. We have relatives visiting us from Germany and so we treated them to the Ft.Worth Rodeo---something they do not have in their country and they really enjoyed it. The people of Ft.Worth are really the most friendly that I know and so it was wonderful to be imersed among so many wonderful people for a while!
this was my first time at a rodeo but i must say i had a great time and it was very entertaining.
Rodeo was very good. Any seat in Will Rodgers is a good seat because it is a small arena. The entertainment was not spectacular, but it was good considering the price of the ticket.
I expected so much more from the legendary event. It lasted two hours with a whole lot of "commercial" events and not a whole lot of rodeo for $22 per person. For a "show" come here, but for Rodeo...I wouldn't recommend the price unless it is a matinee.
I have probably attended some 50 performances of the Fort Worth Stock Show Rodeo over the past 30 years. This performance on Feb. 6, was a great entertainment value for my family. The events flowed well and there was very little "down time". Our seats were very good in Section K of the Coliseum.
Family and I enjoyed the rodeo yesterday; the events were fun to watch if you haven't seen them before. I personally enjoyed the live orchestra, the live,( with very little "superstar/hype" performances) entertainment! I liked the wholesome focus of the announcer's tidbits on most of the entrants, and I'm glad this sort of thing is still pretty big in Texas. I rue the day when the real cowboy and "old West" culture is no more. A great time, and exactly the right length show, too.
Great show for the whole family. Very professional.
Was pleased with the online ticketing and printable ticket option! The event was very good and reasonable priced!
