About the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo
There are lots of annual events out there that go back a long way, but none can hold a candle to the history that's behind the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. The oldest of any continuously operating rodeo in America, it began toward the end of the 19th century, way back in 1896. Every year since then (with the exception of 1943 for WWII-related reasons), the event, also known as the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show, has brought the best in rodeo entertainment and livestock exhibitions/competitions to Texas, with people traveling from all over the country to see it. Now, that's a tradition. Not surprisingly, considering its long history, the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo has been responsible for many innovations over the years in the presentation of rodeo, including the first indoor rodeo, and the first presentation of Brahman bull riding.
So what can you expect from the current version of an event with such a rich legacy? Well, for starters, three weeks' worth of rodeo action, of course, including the ProRodeo tournament as well as the likes of Bulls' Night Out extreme bull riding, the Best of the West ranch rodeo, the Best of Mexico Celebración and the Cowboys of Color rodeo show. But there's much more beyond that. Livestock shows include everything from cattle and goats to pigeons and poultry. There are lots of live music performances, from country to mariachi music, plus Western music and cowboy poetry. Wine and beer makers host events based around their crafts. Onsite food vendors offer no shortage of menu items to satisfy every taste. And when you patronize the rodeo, you're also supporting a nonprofit organization that's been responsible for donating huge amounts of money to foster the future of agriculture and livestock rearing.

All in all it was an entertaining experience. This was my first time at the FWSS & Rodeo. The reason I rated the experience as average was because the announcer, in my opinion, talked a bit too much. He would talk thru the performances and that was a bit distracting. Also the seats were not what I expected. I also think a few more signs directing people to the actual rodeo event would have been helpful. I was in several different buildings before I found the one I was supposed to be in for the rodeo.
Very good show and fun event! This is always a fun thing to go to each year.
Spectacular as usual. Will never use TicketMaster for tickets again.
My first rodeo! Very interesting and fun. The seats were not nice.
This is the Granddaddy of them all! My wife (who is British) is a cowgirl at heart and has two fantastic horses that she rides like the wind but she had never seen an American Rodeo... until now! She (and I) had a wonderful time!
Rodeo entertainment was good, a little drawn out. Only one barrel racer ran below 17 seconds. Might of just been an off night for everyone.
excellant entertainment. took a 1st timer from England, ''fantastic fun''. the will call was seamless. excellant organization & fast check in.
From grand beginning, honoring the Texas Rangers (not the baseball team) ,the cold beer to the great food and fans, Bulls Night Out was very entertaining! Great program with many more bull riders than I had anticipated. Both the bulls and the cowboys performed remarkably well. The pony express relay race was a blast and was a first for me. The poker game / last cowboy sitting was unbelievable. For the price paid the value of the entertainment far exceeded the price.
I love Stockshow and the ranch rodeo is ALWAYS amazing!!!!!
A wonderful celebration of our lifestyle, history and heritage. Its wonderful to watch cowboys compete in the activities of their daily lives. Just great fun with a very positive message
The stock show is a great place to take your family
The Stock Show is a Fort Worth institution. It is good, wholesome, family entertainment. With your rodeo ticket you have access to the exhibit hall with countless displays and merchants, the barns with plenty of other exhibits and livestock, and the midway if you have little ones. It is something you can definately make a day out of.
this was really a great time....the seats were acutally very good even though they were the last row.
I had a fun day with my grandson. It is a fun exent with a child
The rodeo was great! We go every year and really enjoy it. The seats were horrible.
I have been going every year since 1965 and this year I took the family as always and also this year I got to take my 2 new grand daughters. Couldn't have been better. With the Superbowl in town this will surely be a hard ticket to getthe rest of this week.
As always, the Ft. Worth Stock Show and Rodeo is always a treat. Love the Rodeo, shopping, and now the entertainment tent that they have for dancing, and listening to music. Great Fun.
been going to this since I was 14, now 53, still love it and will continue to go for as long as I can.Still one of the best overall livestock show and rodeos in the state.
I attended both nights of the bull riding events. First night I had a good seat with a good view, but I left early the second night because I was given a seat with an obstructed view.
