    Price gouging anyone?!

by meisharona007 on 10/25/23Circuit of The Americas - Austin

COTA puts all these restrictions on what people cannot bring and I saw alot of people with restricted items. 🤷‍♀️ You're not allowed to bring in food and the person I was with is diabetic. He stood in line for 1 1/2 hours, bought 2 pita plates and 2 lemonades and it cost $120.00. You've got to be kidding me. That was outrageous. Also the video screen on our end of the track gave no race updates (e.g. laps done/laps to go), and there were two overlapping streams of sound, so two different groups of people were heard speaking at the same time. The highlight of the race was that Michael Myers showed up. And after 10 years, why are the parking areas still not paved, and why is parking and leaving the track still disorganized.

    Disappointing

by Shel game on 10/25/23Circuit of The Americas - Austin

I have followed Formula 1 for decades. I liked going to a race. This COTA experience was a loud music event, sometimes interrupted by racing cars on track. It seemed that general admissions were unlimited making it hard to find a viewing spot.

    Eh…

by Nat on 10/25/23Circuit of The Americas - Austin

Not sure the tickets are worth the hassle getting all the way out there to the grounds, parking, and then trying to get out of there at the end of the night. Kind of a nightmare.

    Ready for next year

by Lulu on 10/25/23Circuit of The Americas - Austin

This was my first formula 1 and I absolutely loved it. The TV really doesn’t do it justice of how fast the cars go. Hearing the noise was so cool. I got to walk on the track afterwards, watch the celebration, and listen to tiesto perform right after. It was an amazing experience. I will definitely be going to another one.

    Pretty cool but lessons learned

by Papa Dave on 10/25/23Circuit of The Americas - Austin

I got the cheap ticket, and to be honest you can barely see a very small portion of the track and there are no announcers so you just stand there. If I did it again I would get a package that included better viewing. It was still fun and cool to be there though. $80 hats lol

    Formula 1........horrid

by Paul Mc. on 10/25/23Circuit of The Americas - Austin

I've been to all of the F1 events at COTA except last year's race and have been to all the other large events, and most of the smaller events since the track opened in 2012; I also go to a handful of private events during the course of any year. I've supported the track financially as much or more than most fans that actually live here in Austin. For a general admission fan, F1 was horrible in 2023. In my opinion, the track has done a poor job of increasing fan convenience. There are more temporary stands (I get it, the track gets more money for those additional seats) and consequently, less general admission areas to sit in. The GA areas were so full that there were almost no places to sit. For those of us that don't want to spend $5 for a bottle of water, several blue-barrel water stations were empty of water, and there were not enough of them. Food was difficult to obtain because the lines were so long. They also need to install many more large screen TV's so fans sitting in the temporary stands can view and keep up with the race. COTA is surely making a mountain of money on F1. They need to use some of these profits to improve the fan experience. Several fans I ran across at food stands were very irritated at the long food waits. The vendors generally did as well as could be expected given the fan demand for food. It was a pain in the rear to move around the facility. After many years of support of F1, I likely won't be going back until they can make some improvements to the facility. Events like NASCAR and Moto GP are generally a much better experience due to fewer fans being at these events.

    Facility lacks basic human amenties

by Kevin on 10/25/23Circuit of The Americas - Austin

The venue is beautiful, the racing was good but the lack of amenities is disappointing. Not enough food choices for turn 11. 2 food booths for 1,000's of people. Very disappointing and frustrating. Not allowed to bring in food and not okay to wait over an hour to get food. No problem getting alcohol but don't try and eat. Not enough trams for getting around. Lines up were brutal. No people to be found to help with questions. No customer service support at the track. Felt like we got your money, now shut up and watch. Never going back.

    First time F1 race guy

by First time F1 race family on 10/24/23Circuit of The Americas - Austin

Pays to get the 2 day pass. Get to the event a day early especially if you have GA tickets. You will need to walk the GA sections to see where the best vantage points are. Be prepared as there will be thousands already in your spot in GA race day. For the live Concerts, GA is slammed, but seats if you can. Also, F1 merch is $$$ at the race, like 90 for a hat, so shop online before the event if you want to wear your teams merch during the races. Buy tickets in the stands if you can, that way you can still walk in between races. Spend the extra money for seats at the concert and stands if you can to maximize your event experience.

Great views and atmosphere, super concert

by Plenty of Access on 10/24/23Circuit of The Americas - Austin

GA admission tickets to the F1 at COTA means you get to wander in all the public areas, find some grass trackside at multiple locations around the course. The course is huge so be prepared to do a lot of walking. Parking was booked separately and is expensive. The racing events (I was only there on the Saturday for the Sprint and Legends and Porsche races) were well organized, and the atmosphere was very good. Food and drink are of course expensive, as is merchandise. The Queen concert after the race program was amazing, the organization not so much. The outside company hired for crowd control and security were a bit of a joke, nobody I asked really knew anything about where to go etc. It was a zoo. That aside, great day, great concert, 4 stars

    Meh.

by Shani Banani on 10/24/23Circuit of The Americas - Austin

I love Queen. I have since I was 10yo. I saw them perform with Freddie in Dallas when I was 15yo. Back then, Roger had more interaction with fans, but still limited to waving and smiling. My 15yo heart was bursting! His autograph still one of my most treasured collectibles. This show, while great musically, had very little personal touches. It was very, "Hello Austin. All you beautiful people. Let us play for you, collect our money, and keep moving on."In the past, Roger has gotten close to the people, even tossing out his drumsticks. There was no such attempt to make any contact at all this night. While that was disappointing, the show itself was the best one yet! The lights, imagery, and video was amazing and it still brings a tear to my eye to see how they continue to incorporate Freddie into their shows. It was worth all the pain this 100% disabled Veteran endured having to stand in the long lines and through the performance. I do wish the venue would have allowed ADA people access to the stage first. There weren't many of us, and we struggled to find our way to the front in a sea of rushing and running able-bodied people. There were two entry gates to the upgraded floor and the line I was in had to stand and watch the others rush towards the stage after it was open and ours was not. It was a piss-poor plan. Either both should have been allowed to open at the same time or there should have been only one entrance. The F1 event was confusing. I never knew what was happening. The "map"the venue provided contained little to no information except where the food, beer, and port-a-potties were located.

    Scorching, dirty, and crowded

by Dan on 10/24/23Circuit of The Americas - Austin

We attended the sprint shootout and sprint race on Saturday. The spectator terrain is rough and places to purchase food are sparse. It is very hot, dusty, and crowded. The PA system is useless so if you’re planning to follow along, you’re better off watching at home.

    Not impressed

by LB on 10/24/23Circuit of The Americas - Austin

It was WAY to crowded!! Sooo many people. The prices for food and drinks was INSANE!!! We waited four hours on the lawn, front row for the Queen concert and then a message popped up on the screen saying the concert was at the other location. It took us 45 minutes to get to the other stage. We were packed in tight in the very back. Couldn’t see the stage. The screens were blurry. Couldn’t hear the band. Couldn’t understand when they were singing. I was disappointed.

    F1 experience

by MairinD on 10/24/23Circuit of The Americas - Austin

F1 at COTA was an experience but not something I plan to do again unless another amazing band is included. The event is massive and not user friendly but we survived. There was no notice as to the concert start time and the stage that Queen would perform on so people waited at the other stage until told to go to Super Stage.

    Exhilirating

by Todd on 10/24/23Circuit of The Americas - Austin

First trip to a F1 race at the US Grand Prix in Austin. We went Saturday for the Sprint Shootout and Sprint race as well as the other sub races - a very full day. The venue is a great place to see the races. Many great spots to catch the action, but one of the best is the turn 9 grandstand. The exhibits and cars one can view in the infield are not to be missed either.

    COTA needs help

by MeTeOr on 10/23/23Circuit of The Americas - Austin

The entrance experience is awful. Huge delays in getting into parking. Walking a mile on gravel in dust between fences and construction sites to reach gate. Literally no banners or signage at parking or on way to seating. Race seating and circuit are great. Post race entertainment was a non-starter. Wanted to stay for Killers on Friday. Scheduled 3 hours after qualifying. Directional signs lead to a bridge closed by a gate. Waited :30 minutes before COTA instructed steward not to let anyone over bridge to concert venue. He directed everyone to a gate at other end of grandstand. Another 30 minutes with no communication lead to another delay. We left. On the way out, it looked like final scene from Field of Dreams. Cars lined up to leave as far as eyes could see. Exiting COTA, another line of cars stretched past the airport (2 miles or so). They were never going to make the Killers show. a All of this for a premium price event. Having attended F1 races in 5 countries, COTA ranks last in experience

    Transport logistics are terrible

by Susanna on 10/23/23Circuit of The Americas - Austin

I loved the GP and the Queen concert, but the transport logistics around the event ALL weekend were appalling. It took us 4 hours from the end of qualifying to get to our car in the Park and Ride lot. At one point it was a whole hour before a single shuttle bus showed up. COTA need to seriously work through having dedicated access for shuttles to make it viable. It spoils the whole experience and I’m seriously questioning whether we’d ever go again.
