The show was great! Very entertaining. The performers were outstanding and were able to play the movie character parts so well that we knew immediately which movies they were recreating. The voices of the singers and the musicians were spectacular. I would see it again!

NIce bit of nostalgia.Great single performances

by barryc00 on 3/17/15Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Fun for me of my generation to relive the classic movies. The plot was kind of random and without knowing the movies backwards and forwards, you could get lost. The individual performers were great. Especially Evan Rachel Wood as the basket case.

    Electric

by saritamaria on 3/17/15Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

From beginning to end, this show was filled with such contagious energy. All the performers accurately portrayed the teenage angst essential to the show with maturity and deep understanding, and their voices were phenomenal. The band was equally captivating and I enjoyed watching them perform just as much as I did the actors. I had so much fun that I saw the show three times in one weekend! It is absolutely a must-see.

    For the Record John Hughes

by dml1026 on 3/17/15Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

The songs/music were great! Wish there was more of a plot. We were seated at the top of the auditorium and struggled to hear some of the actors- not sure if it was due to strength of voice or acoustics. One actor stole the show- so dynamic. Way to go Michael Thomas Grant. Love the interaction with the audience throughout the show and way actors came out into audience as well.

by WickedBanana on 3/17/15Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

This was my first time at the Broadway Playhouse and I absolutely loved the intimate setting and interaction between the audience and the cast. Every song, every scene, and every joke was easy to get absorbed into as all the fabulous 80's films came to life. It was so much fun, thank you John Hughes for your timeless contribution and cast you should all be proud of your performance!

    Flashback!

by Jenny502 on 3/17/15Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Amazing!! All of my favorite high school movies were intertwined with each other as they weaved through any fans favorite parts. Audience participation makes it that much more enjoyable because we all know the lines. I will most definitely see it again! Just Fabulous! They got 4 stars because at times the music overpowered the singing and I couldn't hear them.

The play was amazingly good! If you love John Hughes and are a huge fan of his 80's Brat Pack flicks, you will find absolute enjoyment in the play. Its very interactive and you'll be singing along the whole time. Bring a good friend and be prepared to laugh, sing and shake your butt.

by jms66 on 3/16/15Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

    Too Loud!!

by SunburyOH on 3/16/15Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

While the show was entertaining and cute, the volume was beyond loud. After three days, my ears are still ringing. The location is a small venue that the body microphones could cover. It was not necessary for them to use additional hand held microphones. It was a good show ruined by bad technical execution. If you want your ears blown out, go to the show. This show could have been a fun night if the show could take into account the venue. Given the other good reviews, I was disappointed. Maybe they had an off night.

    FTR Presents Dear John Hughes

by MSTN on 3/12/15Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago, IL - Sat, Mar 7, 2015 Posted 03/10/2015by MSTN We really know all we need to know about John Hughes several successful "coming of age" films, already. We probably saw all or at least some of them at one point or another. When we did, we all calculated, consciously or subconsciously, where we ourselves in high school might fit into the mix of characters. That's what makes the John Hughes films so memorable - We interject ourselves into the mix. Hey, it's not Shakespeare, maybe, but it IS good entertainment!!! And, if you're a guy, you never forgot the first time you saw Demi Moore on screen. What makes this musical rehash so very special is twofold: One, the way the cast really and truly throws their hearts into their craft. They are all deeply engaged in entertaining the audience. Two, the incredible talents they demonstrate in doing so. The original casts of these movies - even the great Otis Redding, himself - would get a kick out of seeing this. After a show, the last thing I anticipated was seeing the cast and the band coming right out into the lobby immediately after the show to mingle and chat with the audience. They really seemed to care about us folks out there in the "peanut gallery"! I imagine we will see more of all of these talented artists. Favorite moment: The Geek belting out Otis Redding's "Try a Little Tenderness" … and the audience going wild!

    For the Record scores again!

by Essbeth on 3/11/15Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Energetic and extremely entertaining, this showcase of John Hughes scenes and songs reminds us of the angst and high emotions of our teen years. Engaging the audience, the amazing cast belts out their rebellion and then, breaks our hearts with their vulnerability.
