    Amazing talent.

by 1st Opera, Now I'm Hooked! on 12/4/23Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

This was my first opera. Always thought opera was just for high-brows in tuxedos. Sat in the nose bleed seats and still heard every note of the performers and the full orchestra. Was a jaw-dropping, eye-opening pleasure. The amount of talent on that stage and in that orchestra pit was just astounding. I am hooked!

The best performance of La Traviatta I've seen

by Mberz on 12/4/23Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

The Venue is of course self evidently spectacular. The orchestra, and conductor- perfect. The lead awe inspiring, costumes, staging and choreography the best I've seen in a performance of LA Traviatta (my third experience) the company wonderful. A thoroughly enjoyable evening, in every aspect.

    Entertaining

by Lizzie Izzy on 12/3/23Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

This was only my second time at the opera. I found the experience entertaining and I was surprised that it encompassed three hours. The costumes were beautiful, the voices truly magnificent. It was also a wonderful opportunity to do something festive. I enjoyed it.

    Bravo Frida !

by Dr. Rae on 4/1/19Parker Playhouse - Ft Lauderdale

The opera provided an excellent rendition of Frida's complex life story. The actors were superb and the costuming, set design, and audio visuals were extraordinaire!

    Frida comes to life

by R. on 3/24/19Miami Dade County Auditorium - Miami

This was a very good production! I dont usually love opera but this was a combination of opera and regular singing. I liked the use of the traditional Mexican music, instruments and dancers. I learned more about Fridas life as a result. Well done!!

In French and the most uncomfortable seats

by Disappointedreally on 12/4/16Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

The opera was in French, which wouldn't even be bad but the screen for the translation was so high that one either had to read that or look at the actors, not both. Took away a lot of the acting. On the other hand, I don't know where they could have put it. As to the venue, we have been there many times. The place is gorgeous, we had great seats, but the chairs themselves are way too uncomfortable. As a result, this time being a long performance, we had to leave at intermission.

For Norma and the Intermezzo Lounge

by LadyoftheOpera on 4/25/16Au-Rene Theater at Broward Center for the Performing Arts - Fort Lauderdale

I enjoyed Norma. The soprano who portrayed Adalgisa had a very clear sound. I would've preferred her for Norma. Norma herself sounded good as well. I would've preferred a stronger tenor to portray Pollione because some of the notes weren't supported very well. But overall I enjoyed the opera. I added the appetizer package for the Intermezzo Lounge and I was very pleased. They had dry, robust wines, which i guess were good but I prefer very sweet wines and I wish they had stocked one or two but they had juice which i was able to add to the wine.

    Mediocre

by Maruchifresno on 2/16/16Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

While Adalgisa was remarkable and I enjoyed the duets with Norma, the soprano was out of her range and the tenor fell very short. We had club level seats and the food and service were excellent. The arias played on the Club sound system after the show compensated for its shortcomings

    Norma

by Anonymous on 2/15/16Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

The set, lighting and orchestra were very good. the Female leads were very good and strong musically and theatrically. The male leads left something to be desired on both counts.

    ENTICING

by FRANKPR on 12/8/15Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Very interesting story and a particularly fine and beautiful orchestral performance, which attracted myself and my wife more than anything else. The story is quite long, particularly the first part. The second part was more interesting and revealing. Outstanding acting by all and impressive voices. Many Operas have a theme that keeps repeating and make the Opera more attractive. Not this one. "Figaro" theme was just sang at the beginning and no more; this was quite disappointing. I saw a modest amount of people not returning for the second part. Of note is the fact that for many shows, an introductory explanation is given down in the orchestra area. Would be nice if some kind of transmission of the talk could be available for viewing at the Club instead of the need to go downstairs to listen to it.

    The Barber of Seville

by lorenwrt on 12/8/15Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Difficult to follow the reading and to watch the show. The reading was at a such high that was impossible to read and watch. it was not spectacular. The acting was a little bit ordinary and overacted.
