About

FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS IN CONCERT:

Retro indie-pop group Fitz and the Tantrums are keeping the Motown Sound alive and well with their modern take on classic soul and funk. Combining call-and-response vocals,  backbeat tambourines, and vintage-inspired instrumentation, the band's electric live shows are equal parts shimmy and shake, inspiring nonstop dance parties as fans sing along to infectious pop masterpieces like "MoneyGrabber" and "Out of My League." Riding high on the success of their sophomore album More than Just a Dream, Fitz and the Tantrums are set to treat fans to another round of unforgettable shows on tour in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Michael Fitzpatrick formed LA-based Fitz and the Tantrums in 2008 after purchasing a Conn electronic organ -- an instrument that would prove vital in the development of the band's retro sound. The group performed their first show just one week after their first rehearsal, underscoring an effortless chemistry that was readily apparent on their 2009 debut EP Songs for a Breakup, Vol. 1. After touring with Maroon 5 and performing at SXSW, the band signed with Dangerbird Records for their 2010 debut LP Pickin' Up the Pieces. The album landed at No. 1 on the Billboard's Heatseekers Albums Chart, establishing the group as one of the most promising rising talents in indie-pop and paving the way for 2013 sophomore effort More than Just  a Dream — a Top 40 hit on the Billboard 200.

FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS IN CONCERT:

"Fitz And The Tantrums put on a great concert!!! The setlist was awesome and the crowd was singing and dancing with the band!!!"

"Loved this concert. They were so good -- all their music is so distinct. Excellent musicianship all the way around and TONS of energy."

The whole concert is so high energy, I was dancing the whole time with much of the crowd. They seem like genuine people as well - really appreciative of the fans."

  • Fitz was awesome at The Queen!!!

by DelaDarling on 5/30/18The Queen - WilmingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Fitz and the Tantrums and Spirit Animal were both awesome performers! The Queen was a great venue for the concert and the bands really were able to hype the audience and create an unforgettable night.

  • Go see this band!

by GreekGoddess on 5/30/18The Queen - WilmingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Fitz & the Tantrums were outstanding! The sound quality was great, the songs were fun and danceable, and the band was humble, appreciative, and very entertaining. I knew only a few songs going in, but I am definitely a fan now!

AWESOME SHOW. Fitz & the Tantrums are the best ever... Love that they still do the smaller venues. Allows for so much more audience interaction. They will get you moving, high energy show.

I never even heard of this band until they opened for One Republic this past summer. Now I'm a loyal fan! This band puts on a killer live performance and should do well as the main event anywhere!

  • Great Performance

Highly recommend seeing them live. So, so good. Sound was awesome and the band was very genuine and humble.

  • Fitz delivers as usual

    by SomeGuy9 on 12/6/17Riverside Municipal Auditorium - RiversideRating: 4 out of 5

Fitz put on a really great show like they always do. They came out with a lot of energy of really got the crowd going. I’ll catch them anytime they’re in town. As far as the venue goes, it’s really nice having a place to go to that’s local that hosts good shows. I didn’t care for the VIP upgrades as that wasn’t something that was there last time I went. A few too many drunk people as usual at a concert but I don’t fault the the venue for that.

  • THEY ARE AMAZING LIVE!

  • THIS IS A GREAT BAND!

by Wirenutmark on 2/13/17The Dome at Toyota Presents Oakdale Theatre - WallingfordRating: 5 out of 5

This band has such an infectious energy that keeps myself and my daughter going back to see more shows! I introduced my then 19 year old daughter to this band.I can tell you from my experience that this band attracts a wide variety of ages! I see a lot of parents at these shows with their kids! Looking forward to our next show!

  • Fitz & the Tantrums are amazing!

by DiningSolo on 12/16/16Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

I had seen a live concert of Fitz & the Tantrums on television but it was nothing compared to seeing them in person! The energy that they exude is nothing short of miraculous...especially at this altitude. They sang so many great new songs from their new album as well as previous hits and the show was full of music, dancing, and fun stories. I would definitely go to see them again when they come back to Denver! I did have a bit of trouble with Live Nation messing up my VIP tickets by putting all of us in the GA area with no seats. Not cool, LN!

  • Fitz and the Tantrums / Gavin DeGraw - GREAT SHOW!

by gregb on 12/13/16Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

Alice in Winterland 2016 wound up being a great show at the Fillmore Denver. Gavin DeGraw accompanied himself on the piano for the most part and really has never been better. Would love to see him tour more. Fitz and the Tantrums put on an energetic performance but somehow at times it seems like it is done by rote. I don't want to knock them because they are fun to watch and listen to but they've performed these songs so much that it must get a bit boring at this point. HAND CLAP was a noteable radio hit but their new album basically tanked. But, they have enough good material from the first album to satisfy their fans.

  • White man can't dance and a drunk crowd

by CanuckMatthew on 12/10/16Murat Theatre at Old National Centre - IndianapolisRating: 2 out of 5

Phantogram was solid, but too brief. Fitz & the Tantrums was not my favourite music. But the lead singer is like watching the mythical show 'white man can't dance' -- he needs to stop. But worse, was the crowd. Security didn't seem to catch numerous bottles of booze & marijuana that entered the auditorium. Which would have been fine until the disturbing behaviour of many of the audience members which continued until we left.

Grouplove should have still played even if they had to find someone to fill in for Hannah.

  • So so night

    by fancynancy622 on 12/6/16Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

So disappointed GroupLove could not make it! Barns Courtney stepped in and was a delight. Switch foot had an nice first half of their set - along with a cover of GroupLove. But having to fill in the GroupLove slot left the second half of their set a little slow. I was excited to see Fitz, but sound quality was so terrible, that it made them a strain to listen to. I know those sound guys are probably deaf by now, but the rest of us are not and I would have like to be able to hear the lyrics and what the band member are saying. Venue was interesting looking, had convenient parking, Costly coat check at $4 each and a bottle neck in the basement, wine at 12 bucks??, Only one bathroom way in the front.

  • Love this band!

by karalee on 12/3/16Murat Theatre at Old National Centre - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

So much fun! We were dancing in the isles! Fitz just makes you happy and you want to jump around with a tambourine!

  • Fitz was distorted and disapointing!

by skippyjoe on 12/3/16Murat Theatre at Old National Centre - IndianapolisRating: 2 out of 5

Lots of energy. Volume always causes quality to suffer. First act not too bad. Phantogram lead singer voice very distorted but could hear co-singer. Fitz had spot lights aimed at the crowd and it was very hard to watch! We moved to the side to see the stage. The fact that there were many empty seats should tell you something. We have been to concerts where the sound was clear and crisp, but not this one.

  • First rate show

by Dares on 11/28/16State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Wonderful show by Fitz. Lots of energy. It was their last show of the tour and they went all out. Loved every moment.

  • Great live act

by MplsShelly on 11/26/16State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Fitz and The Tantrums put on a very tight, well-rehearsed live show. Their voices were pitch-perfect. They are great entertainers, they engage the audience, and they let you know they are grateful for their fans. The sound system was fabulous; I was very impressed with the acoustics. The opening act, Barns Courtney, was a great choice and he complimented their musical style. He did a good job of revving up the audience, too, and getting them excited for the main act - along with putting on a great show of his own.

  • Wow, just wow!

by DaRonic on 11/26/16State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

They sound so good live! They put on such a great show! They gave 110%, 100% of the time. Don't miss them if you get a chance to go to one of their shows.
