About

FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS IN CONCERT:

Retro indie-pop group Fitz and the Tantrums are keeping the Motown Sound alive and well with their modern take on classic soul and funk. Combining call-and-response vocals,  backbeat tambourines, and vintage-inspired instrumentation, the band's electric live shows are equal parts shimmy and shake, inspiring nonstop dance parties as fans sing along to infectious pop masterpieces like "MoneyGrabber" and "Out of My League." Riding high on the success of their sophomore album More than Just a Dream, Fitz and the Tantrums are set to treat fans to another round of unforgettable shows on tour in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Michael Fitzpatrick formed LA-based Fitz and the Tantrums in 2008 after purchasing a Conn electronic organ -- an instrument that would prove vital in the development of the band's retro sound. The group performed their first show just one week after their first rehearsal, underscoring an effortless chemistry that was readily apparent on their 2009 debut EP Songs for a Breakup, Vol. 1. After touring with Maroon 5 and performing at SXSW, the band signed with Dangerbird Records for their 2010 debut LP Pickin' Up the Pieces. The album landed at No. 1 on the Billboard's Heatseekers Albums Chart, establishing the group as one of the most promising rising talents in indie-pop and paving the way for 2013 sophomore effort More than Just  a Dream — a Top 40 hit on the Billboard 200.

  • Always a fantastic show!

by ShanG on 6/14/22Thompson's Point - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Fitz and the Tantrums :) SUCH a talented, fun, entertaining band to see live. I have seen them many times and am never disappointed. The venue, Thompson's Point, is a great place to see a show. The breeze off the water and the great selection of vendors and food trucks made for a fabulous evening!

On Average I see about 20 concerts a year across many styles - Bonnie Raitt to Papa Roach and everything in-between. They are one of my favorites to see. They are so high energy you cant help but to get caught up in it. They sound great, the band it tight and they have such an awesome groove! So worth going to see them, even if you don't know their music - it is so fun!!

  • So. Much. Fun.

Fitz and the Tantrums were as awesome as always! So talented and energetic. They put on a fantastic show! St. Paul and the Broken Bones were a brilliant pairing. The venue in Portland, ME, was fantastic. Options for sitting or dancing. Food trucks. Beer and wine. So good. Thank you!

  • Amazing night

by CooLC on 6/13/22Live Oak Bank Pavilion - WilmingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Our family had the best night seeing Fitz and the Tantrums for the 4th time. This time we were lucky enough to see them at our new outdoor venue in downtown Wilmington. Their energy is unmatched! The vocals and sounds make it impossible not to dance! We can't wait to see them again in Cary at the Koka booth in August!!

Best concert I’ve ever seen at Thompson’s Point. All 3 acts were amazing! They kept the crowd dancing all night!! Weather was perfect!

  • St. Paul & the Broken Bones and Fitz and the Tantrums

by Steve S. on 6/9/22Live Oak Bank Pavilion - WilmingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Both groups put on a fantastic show!! The crowd loved them and we’re on their feet most of the performances!!

  • Upgraded seats was a VERY NICE surprise

by JMar on 6/8/22Live Oak Bank Pavilion - WilmingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Bought tickets just to see St Paul and the Broken Bones and they were great as always. We had lawn seats and just happen to run into friends when a nice young man with a Live Nation shirt on and asked if we wanted upgraded seats. OF COURSE! We moved up to the rows closer to the front and we very surprised. I’m more of a lawn person, but getting to seat in the comfortable seats might have sold me for some shows. There weren’t hardly any lines for food and alcohol, but the show was no where near sold out. The next night was insanely busy and might have been sold out. Thanks again for the upgraded seats!

  • Long set up

by Amanda on 6/7/22Live Oak Bank Pavilion - WilmingtonRating: 3 out of 5

Fritz and the tantrums didn’t even come on until 9:45. Their setup took what felt like almost 45 mins. I just expected each artist to be playing more and less sitting around and waiting for people to play.

  • Amazing

by Panic4amy on 6/7/22Live Oak Bank Pavilion - WilmingtonRating: 4 out of 5

I had an amazing time however I was charged twice for my 1 drink! I have no idea how to get a refund

  • Fitz was great however …

by Cms on 6/7/22Live Oak Bank Pavilion - WilmingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Fitz & the tantrums were fantastic! However when I bought the tickets it did not say there was a second band sharing the show with them. We had to listen to a band that I was not interested in at all for more than an hour and a half. With the concert meeting to end at 11 this severely limited the amount of time we were able to enjoy Fitz and the tantrums. I was disappointed by that change but loved the show by Fitz and the tantrums

  • great concert

by Svaslin on 6/7/22Live Oak Bank Pavilion - WilmingtonRating: 4 out of 5

The music was fantastic - all 3 bands were great. The ONLY complaint that I have is that while we could "see" the bands, they were so tiny, we could not really see them. If there would have been a video screen like they have at most concerts, it would have been a 5 star concert. While I love going to concerts to hear the music and be a part of the crowd, seeing who is singing/playing is an important element that would have put it over the top. I LOVE Fitz and the Tantrums, would have been nice to see them :(

  • Enjoyed the venue and Sir Paul

    by M. C. on 6/7/22Live Oak Bank Pavilion - WilmingtonRating: 4 out of 5

We invited another couple, we all drove two hours, had hotel rooms down the street, ete at the Marina Grill which was a 2 min walk to the gate and decided to rent the chairs which were very nice! The Live Nation crew was on their game with Customer Service! Then we bought the first round of cocktails, and it was a shake your head moment considering how the current economy is hammering everyone. I also saw no waiting at every bar, wonder why? I will come back to the venue but take my time entering the concert as I did not see a need to arrive early on the lawn and will purchase seats instead of the lawn because the grounds are not that elevated enough to view down to the stage.

  • St Paul was amazing

by Cary E on 6/7/22Live Oak Bank Pavilion - WilmingtonRating: 3 out of 5

Seeing St Paul do a 90 minute show was amazing, high energy, awesome lighting.

  • Amazing Energy

by wnelder on 6/7/22Live Oak Bank Pavilion - WilmingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Wow - first time we’ve seen this band and they were amazing. Hi energy with great music - the audience was fully engaged in the entire show. Coupled with opening act Seratones and coheadliner St. Paul and the Broken Bones it was a perfect trifecta of music!

  • Fantastic!

by KelBel on 6/7/22Live Oak Bank Pavilion - WilmingtonRating: 5 out of 5

All 3 bands were awesome! Great feel good music in a great venue! Fitz and The Tantrums gives another high energy performance!

  • Truly Inspired for the 6th Time

by DADaniels on 3/1/22House of Blues Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen Fitz and the Tantrums 6 times...whether opening act or headliner...and, they have never disappointed! Always high energy, great sound, and positive presence on stage. For 90 minutes, there is a list of songs that gets the audience moving and basking in the full sound of the band. Instrumentally, what a great group...vocally, they are amazing...Though Fitz is the main voice, Noelle is a perfect foil, and, the subject matter of their songs is uplifting and positive. What a great night!!!

  • Good time!

by Sharpie on 3/1/22House of Blues Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

This was the first time seeing Fitz and the Tantrums, and I really didn't know their music. I was surprised at how many songs I was familiar with. Their vocals were good and stage presence amazing! So high energy and fun! I will definitely see them again, and would recommend them to my friends. Disappointed that the original opening act, The New Respects, didn't perform. They would definitely have gotten the crowd amped up for the headliner. Overall, a good night!
