Tony®-winning director Bartlett Sher and the team behind South Pacific, The King and I and 2017 Tony-winning Best Play Oslo, bring a fresh and authentic vision to this beloved theatrical masterpiece from Tony winner Joseph Stein and Pulitzer Prize winners Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick.
The original production won ten Tony Awards, including a special Tony for becoming the longest-running Broadway musical of all time. You'll be there when the sun rises on this new production, with stunning movement and dance from acclaimed Israeli choreographer Hofesh Shechter, based on the original staging by Jerome Robbins. A wonderful cast and a lavish orchestra tell this heartwarming story of fathers and daughters, husbands and wives, and the timeless traditions that define faith and family.
Featuring the Broadway classics "Tradition," "If I Were a Rich Man," "Sunrise, Sunset," "Matchmaker, Matchmaker" and "To Life," FIDDLER ON THE ROOF will introduce a new generation to this uplifting celebration that raises its cup to joy! To love! To life!
The people who sat in front of talked and were very rude. The show its self was amazing.
The acting, stage, choreography, music, dancing, were all AMAZING! This show did not disappoint. We laughed, we cried, and we are still talking about it. My husband won't stop singing " Do you love me". Once of our favorite shows yet. Coming from a traditional Greek background, we appreciated the many parallels between our own culture and the Jewish culture. Kuddos!
Even with a cast as strong as this one is, the character of Tevye essentially has to carry the show. The Israeli actor, Yehezkel Lazarov, is more than up to the challenge. His performance is thoroughly captivating, blending pathos and humor with song and dance. The set designs and orchestra are a match for the great story and songs, and the pacing is fairly brisk for a rather lengthy production.
This is one of my favorite musicals and I was not disappointed. The only thing was that the set wasnt as magnificent as i thought a Broadway set should be. The actors were spot on and the singing and dance numbers were phenomenal, even my 3 year old enjoyed.
I really enjoyed the whole produxtion. It was worth going. Everyine should see it
Dispense with your notion of Topol in the role and you will appreciate this Tevye for creating his own version. Daughters have great voices and dream scene is classic. The bottles remain on the hats as they should during wedding dance. But someone must have borrowed Yente from a local high school production of Fiddler because otherwise it would be hard to explain how a Broadway quality star could mangle the role so badly. Right? Of Course Right! All in all it was a delight.
Such a great show. Cast balances traditional staging with fresh perspective. Strong performances, vocal and dancing.
Singing was incredible, staging was great and an overall fun experience!
A wonderful musical experience and sad story come alive in this production.
Cast was very engaging with the audience. Sitting in the 2nd row I felt as if on stage. Was far funnier than i ever knew yet had it's momemts of emotion as well. Highly recommended Must See !
Absolutely incredible! I see almost every musical from Chicago-London-NYC. This was amazing! Thank you!
Acting outstanding. Music outstanding. Dancing outstanding! Simply loved it.
Well done by a cast of very talented singers and dancers recreating a timeless classic with gusto and emotion!
Very slow moving and even kind of depressing- not what we were expecting - especially during the holidays.
This was such a treat. I loved the singing and the dancing. The actor that played Tevye, was the best. I liked his interpretation of the character. Fiddler is one of my favorite musicals, so rich in, "Tradition."
Loved it! The music and dancing were phenomenal! Loved the fiddler! Most of the performances I was smiling ear to ear! The main character nails it! The second half is a little sad but ends on a good note. I would love to go back!
Had such a great time at FOTR! Highly recommended! Funny, impressive music/cast/orchestra/acting plus tons of great songs! Don’t miss it!!
Well produced, acted and sung. Problems with the accents all over the place. Some sounded Russian, some Hispanic, none Yiddish. Set design was OK. Fiddler was never on a roof as in other productions, just prancing around the stage. ??? Missed Topol for sure, nobody compares. Some dead spots in the production could have been eliminated. Oh...excellent dancing scenes. Good fun.
The play itself was pretty good as was the theather. Due to being a bit late - ;-) - for the first half I sat on the upper balcony but in the second row. Those seats are actually not too bad, might be bit tight if your over 6', although I wouldn't go for the seats on the upper most balcony, especially in the last rows. In the second half I joined my girlfriend and sat in the dress circle on the main floor. Those seats are of course better & closer to the stage but if you're on a budget get the balcony ones, with some discount code or on hottix.org if possible, you still get to see and enjoy the play. And majority of girls will really like that kind of outing, nice place and play for a date. Just DON'T be late and you will score some good "brownie points" ;-) I did!
great performance as usual great cast and awesome setting
