FATHER JOHN MISTY IN CONCERT:

Father John Misty brings folk into the 21st century with each eclectic element he incorporates into his unique sound, and his charismatic showmanship makes his live shows a must-see. When he's strumming his way through ballads like ìThe Night Josh Tillman Came to Our Apartmentî his emotional vocals and heartbreaking lyrics make alt-country fans feel right at home. But heís just as comfortable strutting his stuff to noisy, spiteful rockers like ìThe Ideal Husbandî and turning out full-blown electronica on tracks like the transcendently beautiful ìTrue Affectionî. With his singular combination of Americana traditions with cutting-edge sounds, Father John Misty is a folk icon for a new generation, and fans won't want to miss the chance to see him conjure up his immersive sound in concert.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Before making his debut as Father John Misty in 2012, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Joshua Tillman was busy recording late-night demos in the Seattle-area. After self-releasing two CD-R demos he attracted the attention of Fargo Records, and in 2006 the label released his debut album Minor Works. In 2008 Tillman was tapped by indie darlings Fleet Foxes, who needed a drummer for the recording of their self-titled debut. Though he gained widespread exposure and success with Fleet Foxes, Tillman left to pursue his creative reinvention as Father John Misty in 2012. After a warm reception from critics and fans for his debut album Fear Fun, he set out on his first solo headlining tour. His 2015 follow-up album I Love You, Honeybear was a breakthrough success, appearing on best-of lists from esteemed sources like Pitchfork, Roughtrade, and Stereogum. As he continues to breathe new life into indie folk with his wide-ranging influences and poetic gifts, Father John Mistyís electrifying performances have fans eagerly anticipating whatís next from the innovative troubadour.

  • Amazing!

The only thing that disappointed me about this show was the attendance. He is such an amazing performer and this should have been a sell out. Great musician, great music, amazing performer.

  • Mr. Tilman

Father John Misty put on absolutely amazing show from start to finish. Solo acoustic for a majority of the encore was spectacular and gracious. Hopefully he comes back

Fabulous show, such a showman! Performed for close to two hours, four song encore. His voice is just the best!

  • Was a perfect evening! Great music and great atmosphere!

This was my 6th time to see Father John , and probably my favorite. Each time has been good but he was really good this time! And was my first time to sit on the lawn at the venue and it was great. I usually get seats closer to the front but tickets were free so no complaints.

  • Hang the Soundman

by Father Jay Moisty on 8/5/25Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Show was great. FJM was sincerely putting it on. The band was tight. The only issue was that the sound person seemingly had never put a sax into a house mix before, so every time the poor sax player took a solo there was a deafening wash of high frequency white noise/feedback that drowned out the entire band.

  • Wonderful! Wonderful!

by Oldestfan on 8/3/25Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I took my two twenty-ish granddaughters with me and they loved the show, too. FJM was fully engaged with the audience, and he and his band gave us a fantastic musical experience. The venue was charming, even crammed full of people, and the staff were helpful and cheerful. Thank you everyone who was involved!

  • A Night to Remember

As expected, he came out and crushed it. A true master of his craft. You won't regret getting to see him perform.

  • It was awesome!

    by Stacia on 7/29/25Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - BerkeleyRating: 5 out of 5

What a great show and with Lucinda and Hamilton playing with Father John Misty! The Greek is beyond perfect, always. The venue is so beautiful and also has awesome food and beverage options. And it’s always nice to run into friends which we always do at the Greek. Father John Misty always delivers… I only wish he could’ve played for another hour!

  • He was all that I had hoped for and more!
