We just attended Fame at Tropicana the other evening in Atlantic City. I was so excited to finally see a production of this show on stage. The excitement did not last long. Maybe it started with the fact that the curtain went up a half hour late. But let me tell you, I wish the curtain had never gone up at all.
The cast, as a whole was extremely untalented. This may also be the fault of the director, who obviously phoned this production in and may never have showed up for rehearsal.
This was close to the worst high school production I have ever seen (I see everything).
The unprofessionalism of not only the Tropicana staff, but the cast and crew as a whole was an embarassment to all of Atlantic City entertainment.
The girl playing the "drummer" at one point accidentaly threw her stick, and could only drum with one hand. The other people on stage with her all started laughing and ruined the scene. What drummer has never thrown a stick before? Come on. Dancers throughought could not hold their blocking and kept running into each other. The scene changes were so slow, and amateurish in their direction, it was like teacher at a kindergarten play.
Okay you get the idea. Now you know why after the fourth song, the audience started walking out DURING the two teachers song. I don't mean a few people, I mean a lot. It was so bad, as we left as well, a worker from the casino asked me, "Is the show over already?"
I answered "The best part of this show, was when the curtain did not rise in the beginning!"
Thank god I only spent $25.00 on this nightnmare!
