About

FALSETTOS revolves around the life of a charming, intelligent, neurotic gay man named Marvin, his wife, his lover, his about-to-be-Bar-Mitzvahed son, their psychiatrist, and the lesbians next door. It’s a hilarious and achingly poignant look at the infinite possibilities that make up a modern family... and a beautiful reminder that love can tell a million stories.

William Finn and James Lapine’s groundbreaking 1990s Tony Award-winning musical comes back to Broadway this fall in an all new production from Lincoln Center Theater. Lapine returns to direct an extraordinary cast featuring Christian Borle, Stephanie J. Block, Andrew Rannells, Anthony Rosenthal, Tracie Thoms, Brandon Uranowitz, and Betsy Wolfe.

The Walter Kerr Theater Box Office is open Monday through Saturday, 10am to 8pm; Sunday, Noon to 6pm. Tickets will not be sold at the Lincoln Center Theater Box Office. Tickets may also be bought over the phone by calling Ticketmaster at 800-982-2787.

    Great show

by shooz25 on 11/8/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

My daughter and I loved this show. The actors were all amazing although the young boy was a little robotic and weak. I have seen all the main actors in other shows and was excited to see them again and they didn't disappoint. The scenery was fascinating. We laughed, appluded and sobbed at the end. Go see the show, you won't be disappointed

    As flawless as it gets!

by reviewer2mill on 11/7/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

We were ready to turn around and see this again the next day! There was not a single weak performance - The entire cast was amazing and the set, seemingly sparse at the start, was genius. I would be stunnd if this play did not win some Tonys. Do NOT miss it!

    Good Production

by NYCSABI on 11/7/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

I found this show to be a good show. Did not blow me away which I think it is because the material is just a bit dated. I am sure it was ground breaking back in the day but things have come a long way....which is a good thing.

Flawless Revival of a Timeless Show

by TheaterGuyNO on 11/6/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

I saw the original cast in 1993, and I knew and loved this great musical. What I saw last Tuesday night was out of this world in brilliance. Every cast member was perfect. The sets and staging fantastic. There were some fine details in this staging that I didn't remember from 1993, and they were quite brilliant. Needless to say the audience was transfixed and transported at the end of the show. The cast was perfect. All superb. Christian Borle gives a performance of total perfection. As do Andrew Rannells, Stephanie Block and really the entire cast. The young actor who plays Jason, Anthony Rosenthal is a "pro" as accomplished as the adult performers. One of the finest child actors of our day! This is a must-see and never-to-be-forgotten revival. Please see it and encourage everyone you know to see it.

A very enjoyable night. A little silly in the beginning, but great singing by Borle and Rannells.

    Boring story and score

by GianCarloCapri on 11/6/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

I did not see the original production so I was intrigued to see it finally. It was so disappointing; the story and the score were boring, non-distinguished. The score was in the style of Sondheim but unmemorable. A question for the creators: When did Dad's lover become a hero to the son? After a baseball batting tip???? It may have been shocking and "avant-garde" in the past but now it is trivial.

    Falsettos - Not So Much

by VirginiaL on 11/6/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

I had read the New York Times review and was so excited to get my tickets to Falsettos. I was really excited about seeing all the featured actors on stage. Bottom line - just not a great play. First, anyone going should know it is basically an operetta. There are almost no spoken words in the play. This results in passages where they are singing about rather banal things like what food to have at a bar mitzvah, etc. It is long, feels as super dated as it is and the music just not great - no humming showtunes after this one! The performances are all strong and the actors quite likable and watchable. The jigsaw piece set, which gets moved all around and turned into different things, feels like a dated set of a bad 80's tv show. I am so sorry to say, but this show was a big disappointment

    Thoroughly entertaining!

by maggie on 11/6/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

If you want to see a stage full of musical theater performers who are all the BEST at singing, dancing, and acting, then "Falsettos" is the show for you. Add to that a set that is so clever that it is a star all on its own, and you have a really entertaining evening. And then the entire show is an anthem to the "constructed families" that most of us in New York know so well - the friends that have become, in effect, a replacement for our childhood families.

A RIVETING SHOW! A MUST SEE!!!!!

by Arguendo on 11/5/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

Everything about this show was beyond terrific: the book,, the lyrics, the music, the acting, the direction, the choreography, the band. But, OMG bring Kleenex, The second act had the entire audience in tears, it was so moving. A grand theater experience - and unique.

    Falsettos...good but long

by ShowMeEntertainment on 11/5/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

It started out funny, most of first act, but as the show progressed, the storyline turned sad and emotional (second act) which isn't bad. However, the flow seemed slow at times and that made the show seem longer than necessary. I still enjoyed the show as I was glad to see the two main actors, Christian and Andrew and I would recommend the show. It is worth checking it out.

    The Best

by AFinnFan on 11/2/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

One of the great contemporary musicals. William Finn writes with humor and compassion and his music is always exciting. The show resonates more today than it originally did because we now have stepped back a little and moved ahead. Superb cast. Stephanie Block delivers an authentic showstopping number. Great staging (the backdrop looked a little tacky). It won Tonys for Book and Score originally...not best musical. The big "why not" question...wasn't marketable then. I hope to go again.

Falsettos was poignant and still relevant

by Headhuntress65 on 11/2/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

I had feared that Falsettos might come across as dated, but my fears were unfounded as the play's themes are truly timeless and universal. The music and lyrics are so beautiful and all of the actors were exceptional. I would hope that, barring another production coming out between now and the Tony nominations, this play would receive the Tony for Best Play Revival.

    "Falsettos" was unforgettable!

by Fangirl21 on 11/1/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

"Falsettos" was an absolutely beautifully composed, acted, directed, and designed musical that made you laugh, broke your heart, and lifted your spirits. Every moment was perfectly executed. The performances were awesome! Each actor was totally on his/her game! The score has been playing in my head for over 20 years, and this cast captured its essence with humor, sadness, and madness.

    Falsettos - a bit overrated

by WindMiller on 11/1/16Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

I read the exhilarating review in the NY Times and quickly went to see the next day. Although the performers were excellent, the play/musical did not meet my expectations. I will not be recommending to my friends - unless they can get half-priced tickets.
